New Yorick Support Build Guide
INTRO: Hi, I'm Snakdatsmilesbak and throughout season 7 I tested Yorick support and climbed from high bronze to mid plat, mainly one-tricking the pick. I'm a shit player I'm confident someone better than me could do better on the pick. After playing around with the new runes a little bit, I think I've found a workable early build in this new season. So if you wanna try a fun and semi-viable troll pick this preseason, here's a guide :) [sg-syndra] RUNES: Yorick Support runes nov 8 https://imgur.com/gallery/kwWmC http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/featured/preseason-update/8400-8437?build=30202137
I take resolve because without the skills in this tree I won't be able to do my job as support. Yorick excells with grasp. You're tanky enough, and with the extra range on your q it's actually not very hard to proc grasp in lane. I take Font of Life because Yorick lacks peel, it helps keep your adc alive. I found without the rune champs like brand or leona/draven kill my adc too easily. Then I take Iron Skin. It's the difference between a perfect dive and a bard play. Second wind is the best choice out of the remaining runes, it'll help you sustain in lane and during skirmishes.
Domination is the secondary tree that stands out. As a support that is going to be making plays all over the map, you're going to need vision and uptime. Ghost wards and ingenious hunter help create more opportunities for plays.
Alternatively you can take sorcery as your secondary tree, and spec into ultimate hat and gathering storm. This will help you transition into a massive nuisance for the enemy team as you apply tons of pressure with your ult.
ITEMS:
Alter your build as you need to. Sometimes this means rushing zzrot to end asap or it could mean building tiamat and sunfire cape. Depends on what you need.
PLAYSTYLE: Yorick Support revolves around objectives. Picking yorick as support basically says "camp me or ill get first tower and drag." Take every single relic shield charge with your q always. Keep an eye out for opportunities to all in if you have ghouls ready, try to e someone and wall them in. If their bot plays like pussies and doesnt fight you then keep pushing it into their tower and warding, not many can out push yorick. At level 6 your ult means that you'll win most 2v2 fights as long as your adc isn't popped before it starts. And it almost guarantees a tower. If you have ghouls ready to spawn and your lane is pushed up, then take your ghouls and go roam. You can often 1v1 junglers and counterjg or gank mid with the damage your ghouls offer. Some dragons you can solo starting level 3. Scuttlecrab is your bitch. Look to use your level 3-6 spike to take bot tower. Try to take herald, you can solo it easily with ghouls. Once you have level 11 you can duo baron with some adcs or junglers. Every time you have ult, pressure with it and look for an objective with your team. Sometimes you can split a lane using your ult. Always try to drop herald and your ult at the same time. In teamfight peel for your adc with your wall, damage, and slow. Your %hp damage keeps you relevant while peeling. Someone jumps ur adc? Don't knock em away just kill em.
