To Those of You Who Think the Mana/MP5 Changes Are Going to "Ruin" Mages

Aurelion Sol would like a word with you. Someone who doesn't build any MP5 and only builds an RoA for mana, yet still manages to rarely run out of mana with a Q that costs 100 mana, an ult that costs 100 mana, and a W that drains 40 mana per second. With just RoA Aurelion reaches 1.8k mana, which is more than enough to sustain through a teamfight and siege afterwards without running oom. So, no, the Mana/MP5 changes won't ruin mages. If anything it'll make them better because they won't run out of mana and have to regenerate it in the middle of the fight.

Aurelion Sol is also a good example of why letting the AP carry build a lot of mana regen instead of large mana pools can be a very bad idea. His waveclear and kiting is INSANE with W up and letting him keep that up perpetually once he's built Rylai's would be completely oppressive.

Mana regen runes will be more important for some people and they'll probably sacrifice magic resist glyphs to use them. That seems fine with me with the drop on some AP items like Zhonya's going from 100 ability damage to 70.

It will be interesting to see how they play things.

No, it won't make them better, running OOM in middle of a fight almost never happens, maybe except for early game.

It probably will happen way more often after Mid Year Mage Nerf though, because Eternity is much, much worse than Valor's reward - one needs to take 1.3k+ damage for equivalent of ONE Valor's reward proc.

Take a look at your's Aurelion+ROA example - say you get rush Catalyst and get in on lvl 6, a very common occurrence. When you reached level 10, Catalyst already granted you 800 mana to spend for later part of laning phase, the Protector more than doubles your available mana pool.

Catalyst of Aeons will grant you mere 200 if you allow your enemy to pound you for 1300 damage during this time.
