this new jungle is stupid

It would be fine if this was dark souls but you trying to let more junglers in just crowded out the ones who dont start tanky as hell i have tried many champs but if your not ww or fiddlesticks you don't even have the life to last in the jungle with 2 health pots.

Well you don't really need the life to last inside the jungle past two HP pots by that time you should have 350 gold off of smite and your clears which is enough to go back to base and pick up your jungle item. It's more risky however, because it leaves your jungle more open to counter-jungling. Warding the buff you plan on taking next before going B will help you and your team keep it safe as you go back into the jungle. That's how I do it anyways and I play as Wukong who doesn't have any innate sustain at all. (Though great clear speed.)

People still can't comprehend that this isn't the same jungle or Season 4 anymore.

You can't full clear, be at full health, and have ganked two lanes by the time you are level 4, it doesn't happen.

If you cleared decently by level 3 and you think you can gank fine, if you can't, go buy your upgraded smite item and just mute whichever teammate is whining that you aren't ganking his lane every two minutes because he can't do a 1 v 1.

Sustain junglers are great yes, but it isn't all about the early game just like I always tell people it isn't all about the laning phase.

Play to the new jungle, don't try to force a round peg in a square hole because it used to fit. Do your thing and figure out what works best for you.

Amumu Maokai Rammus Rengar Pantheon Shaco Trundle

You were saying?

you missed xin xao, start with w and some attack speed runes (15% personally) and live just fine.

None have the damage to last in the new jungle apart from shaco/panthion who doesn't get hit anyway and rengar isnt tanky enough to last i have tried them all

Really? Because I'm doing double buff level 3 ganks with Amumu, Maokai, Rammus, and Rengar at 70% health minimum, more in some cases. Maybe you should just learn to play them.

after the recalls you never mentioned

FiendOfOne1 votes

Nope. My first recall is usually at about level 5. I do three camps (enough to get to level 3), gank a lane, kill another camp, gank a lane, then farm or gank as necessary until about 40 seconds left til my first buff comes back, recall, buy, and then go back to my buff.

With Amumu and Maokai, I can reliably do level 3 ganks at 75%+ health. If I don't have a leash, I won't be able to go straight into gank - I'll only have about 50% health, so I'll farm jungle to level 4 then recall.

Leti the Yeti3 votes

is it not normal to recall? ;l junglers back then just sat in the jungle with like 2k for godknowswhat reason before their first back

CaptnJakSparrow2 votes

I back at level 3 >_>. There's no reason not to go back and bumrush buy your next jungle item and a couple pots.

Long Dong Wukong1 votes

Also this is how everyone but heavy sustain has to jungle now, yes.

Purple side sucks ass because you have to do one less camp before you back, but it's still enough for item + pots.

GanksLikeGast0n1 votes

Since both sides have the exact same camps I fail to see how this happens. Also I've done a fair bit of jungling this season and haven't noticed a difference between the two sides.

Long Dong Wukong1 votes

Gromp is worse than Rockbros + Red. It doesn't matter much on sustain junglers because they just sustain through it anyway.

Wukong for example on blue side can go Rockbros/Red/Raptors/Wolves(you end up with like 120 health doing this though)/Recall&buy, and on Purple side you have to go Gromp/Blue/Wolves/Recall&buy because you aren't mitigating any damage with a stun.

If you start Red buff on purple side you don't get a good leash AND you make your top miss at least the first CS if they try to give you any sort of half decent leash.

On Blue Wukong is really good, on Red he has a really rough start. It's also much easier and safer to invade from blue side. Purple top jungle might as well be an extension of your jungle.

I don't like it but I have adapted, I can't really complain.

The only thing I truly can't stand is that Baron feels incredibly useless. I'm talking I'd rather farm by jungle than try to kill Baron because that buff plain and simple doesn't actually do anything. I've only been playing norms for now in this preseason, but I'm playing with other Plats and Diamonds, so I really don't see the appeal of this buff.

There just doesn't seem to be a way to put it to use. So what if the cannon minion shoots from a little farther away? I've never successfully sieged where they built up and eventually took down a tower. I assume that's what the* idea * was, but they just die to waveclear or a fight happens or we rotate.

I seriously cannot see the point of the new Baron buff. The concept is that it lets you siege, but it has yet to play out that way in any match that I've played.

The new Baron buff is great, what are you talking about? The cannon minions out range towers now just about, you can take down a turret with just one person and a full minion wave rather fast, and if you have multiple people, you WILL seige that turret down very quickly. Really the only thing it lost was the regen and you GAINED minion buffs, so not sure what the issue is, it is actually better.

They also don't just "die" to wave clear as the minions also have more health, so unless the enemy team has like...the entire team, or a Ziggs and a few people the minions aren't just instantly dying.

It really isn't as bad as you are making it sound, it just sounds like you aren't putting it to the right use and are just running at turrets and wondering why it isn't working (no offense but that exactly what it sounds like from your response).

Maybe we have different play styles but I've yet to take a tower or two when I have Baron buff in literally everyone of my games let alone as you stated none of your games have worked out. If it really isn't working for you then maybe don't just rush a turret when the enemy team is standing under it waiting to wave clear. Get a banner of command and use it on a Baron Buff cannon minion, watch that turret go bye bye, have more people split pushing, etc.

AtheosisX1 votes

Baron buff is game-ending now, especially if you have someone split-pushing. I have no idea what you are talking about.

Xypey1 votes

I do fine with panth and xin xao clearing all camps before going back...you just need to set up your runes/masteries correctly. Others for example Wukong I go blue > gromp smite > wolves > red then back get item upgrade and some spare pots and its all gravy. Maybe you need to adjust your setups.

Hecarim Nautilus Khazix Evelynn I manage quite well with these guys.

Nunya Bezwacks1 votes

nautilus lacks damage and Evelyn isnt tanky enough

Kuroi861 votes

Nautilus Start Gromp, then wolves, raptors, krugs, back for smite, finish clear with blue and red then gank if you can or keep farming. Evelynn Start Krugs, raptors, wolves, gromp, back for smite, finish clear and farm to six then proceed to gank every time your ult is up. Build item 3707 item 3146 then tank. May not be the best build, but it's managed for me so far and until I find an Eve main with a better build I'll stick with it til I find better.

That is fairly different from how I approach making Evelynn work out in the pre-season.

Gromp (leash and smite) > Blue > Wolves (hit 3) > Recall > Red (smite) > Gank top > Raptors (hit 4) > Gank mid > Gank bot > Gromp (hit 5) > Counter Gank bot > Recall > Second Blue > Wolves (hit 6) > Counter Gank bot (both mids come to join the fun) > Dragon.

That is basically an ideal case (other than Nidalee barely surviving Lee Sin's Ignite when I ganked top), usually ganks do not go smoothly and more farming is required. But unless all the enemy laners are being forced to farm under turret I get in at least one gank after red and before second blue.

Build really depends on what you want to do and when you want your power spikes. After trying a bunch of builds, I have settled on building AP early for more burst (Magus jungle item) and basic boots. Then get a mana crystal around level 8 or 9 since I tend to start going OOM around then if doing a lot of stuff in a short time frame. And eventually transition to a build for diving priority squishies from behind in team fights (specifically the ADC).

Full build is usually: item 3153 item 3268 item 3078 item 3143 item 3708 item 3156

Getting there tends to be a little tricky, but it does better in the long run than other builds I have tried.

I really like the new jungle. Looking forward to the new gold on monster kill buff on PBE, but I think there's way more plays to be made in the jungle now. More than just spam ganks.
