Thresh Support Pick dominance. Possible solution?

I think it is fairly well accepted that Thresh is by far the most generalist pick in plat + according to game statistics and probably most popular for lower divisions for quite some time now. I wonder is it right to have the most picked support also doing better than every other support on average? Right now Sona has a miniscule winrate edge over thresh. Guess what, she is picked 5x less on average so it isn't even a comparable sample size. It would seem that good Thresh players are outperforming other good support players more times than not and with a larger sample size. Winrate: 52.2% Pick: 33.5% speak for itself.

A big issue as a support I see is that Thresh just has too much pressure with his hook currently because the projectile comes out a bit too fast for reactive counterplay. Compared to Blitz hook Thresh's moves faster, has more reach, and costs less mana, and lower CD. My biggest concern is that his hook becomes oppressive when you attach a 1.5 second stun to it. It's just way too reliable. Given the generous amount of stun time for how reliably he can hook there is an issue. Hook Range Thresh 1100 vs 925 Blitzcrank . Hook Speed Thresh 1900 vs 1750Blitzcrank . Blitz has been balanced around making big hooks late game so his hook is more fair in lane. I can better react to his hook because of those lower values. But who cares about late game when you can just fish for hooks using thresh and snowball lane right? Many times I think I am safe around a minion wave and Thresh hook comes out too fast for me to juke it at all. Trying to dodge the hook feels very risky because the animation of the projectile. Compare this to Taric stun: way shorter ranger and super telegraphed. Same with Zyra, snare is much more telegraphed and allows for counterplay. Also their stuns/snare both scale with level even though they are much easier to dodge meaning that even if you get CC'd you won't get a full duration lock early on. Consider reducing the speed of the hook. Why should it have so much more power than other supports have early? I'd like to see it reduced projectile speed at the very least or redistribute the stun duration over skill levels. So far it's Thresh, Lulu, or Karma in almost every game. At least Karma and Lulu have been looked at. I would like some diversity in supports not the same ones used vastly more than others with cameos from forgotten supports from diehard mains.

Still waiting to hear why Thresh has twice the rate of play then the second most played support Lulu. Thresh just does too many things currently. Thresh creates picks for his team while having the option to be played defensively for his team. Thresh has the kit to do both effectively only limited the player behind the keys where as other supports have much more specific roles.
