Riot knew damage would be higher, and didn't give more tank stats out...

The new runes have given many ranged supports much higher poke damage in the early game, making it more punishable for Tanks to cash their Spoils of War stacks. We're giving the heal on Targon's a small bump to ensure they still have ways to secure their gold.

OFC they knew, and then didn't buff more base stats.

This is what happens when a whole community bitches about a "tank meta" consisting only of three tanks that happen to had been explicitly overbuffed while the rest of the class sat in obscurity of 44% winrate from their gutted itemization. When the entire game then changes to be more fragile, it's only going to make for dead """tanks"""

Why does the tank tree need sums to be down to get tenacity, but the other one gets it by killing large minions?

To be fair, that rune use to give bonus resistances instead, and tanks up top will often have summoner 12 on cooldown.

Lol it's funny to watch a few PBE with tanks staying in the back line when Zoe starts chunking hp down very fast and efficiently.

Just played my first game since the update and my Support Orianna feels a lot tankier. Thier jg Gragas was ridiculously ineffective. But then his timing was also bad.
