Garen's Villain Mechanic is One of the Most Unhealthy Mechanics in the Game

Yet since Garen is not a popular champion and is for the most part easy to counter with the rest of his kit is dies not recieve the attention from the community it should. The current way his Villain mechanic works should be completely removed from the game.

Any other terrible mechanics that the community neglects to discuss?

Can you specify what makes it bad, I've never had any problems with it so I'm curious.

The logic that it punishes you for doing well against Garen and his team. We have bounties for that reason.

It was made long before bounties were a thing so that could make sense. However, snowballing is an issue I have seen and a champion that punishes that doesn't seem too bad to me.

Bounties existed long before that Garen recieved his Villain update.

How the mechanic works is poor in design.

The idea behind it is that who ever is doing well against your allies should become the target, but it is purely based off of recent kills so even some player that is useless could get one kill and then become the target.

Since this increases damage verse one target then he should do less damage and have a hard time dueling enemies without the passive on them. If he can duel them easily without them being the Villain then he is overtuned, because then he has a beyond unfair advantage verse a target with Villain applied to them.

Also his Ult will do over 1k true damage to the villain which is insanely dumb to face.

Gotcha, thank you!

so youre salty about me pointing out how much of a garbage design vayne is and made this in response?

garens villain mechanic is awkward both to play against and to use, but his kit still gives you enough counterplay to play around it. short range (and i mean actual short range, as in melee range, and not "550 i dont outrange other adc" short range), cooldown windows, low mobility.

that makes it a bad mechanic, but not the most unhealthy in the game.

vaynes kit just straight up doesnt have counterplay. shes more stat check of a champion than garen ever was in his entire existence. either you play one of the very few "correct" champions who have the same lack of counterplay and the kit to deal with her (aka blow her up before she can move), or you cant fight her because she outstats you.

Player that recently killed your allies is the villain

Garen is rewarded for being able to get on them with his ult dealing true damage. If he does a good job he avenges his fallen allies.

What is the problem? Surely Nocturne R is far worse

It kind of isn't... If you are the villain just don't try to 1v1 him unless you're hella fed

Garen is the type of champion you play when you do not have the reflexes for the nonsense that exists nowadays. I like that Garen exists, even if I never play him. I like his kit. I think the ulti could probably be done better as it seems a little awkward. However, on the whole, I think we need more Garen-esque champions instead of the garbage that is coming out now.

Didnt say Garen is poorly designed I said the Villain mechanic is

I know. I said it was a little awkward. I do not think it is a huge problem but it could definitely be done better. Garen

At the same time, I think it'd be far too OP in lane to be able to choose your mark in the same way that kindred does.
