My thoughts on giving ADC's counterplay

ADC's are simple. Their kits are relatively weak, and they only serve to help them auto people to death. They can be fun, but they exploit all of the most aggravating mechanics this game has to offer.

So what makes them important? We can't just delete them, so they must have some redeemable qualities.

  1. They scale well. They are the premiere lategame champs and objective-takers, and without them we would find games that never end.
  2. They take out tanks. Their dps does not go away when their spells are on cooldown. Without ADC's tanks would be broken.
  3. They are a staple of teams. It's easier to plan a team when you have at least 1 role that is extremely consistent.

Now what needs to change?

  1. They scale TOO well. Even more than lategame champs should.

We could fix that by adjusting their powercurves. An adc's stats are all multiplicative. The stats need to be adjusted. First, remove crit. It's an extraneous stat, and they can make do without it. It's also RNG, and that is complete bull in a game with this much strategy. Next, make the differences between AS and AD champs more notable. Some should be hard stacking AD while others should be hard-stacking AS. Last, reduce the total DPS of final ADC builds, which would be easier without crit.

  1. They kill squishies too fast.

ADC's kill tanks. They are especially designed to kill them. Look at item 3036 and item 3153. These wouldn't be here if they weren't meant to kill tanks disproportionately fast. Currently, they have extremely high raw DPS to take out tanks, but that same DPS is just as effective against squishies. Trim their DPS, focus more on tank shredding.

  1. They sustain too much.

Why is this even a thing? Why are ADCs getting this ridiculous amount of Lifesteal? Mages can't even get basic sustain. Most divers, assassins, and juggernauts only have 1 or 2 tools to stay in a fight, tanks either have it or they don't, but ADC's can heal faster than many champs can deal damage. This is what healers are for, 40% lifesteal is cancer. Take a look at lifesteal items, should they all be geared towards ADC's the way they are?

  1. Autos are guaranteed.

Flash a skillshot? Nice dodge. Flash an auto? Wasteful. Autoattacks should have a missile mechanic. Not that they need to stop on the first enemy hit, but they should miss if a champion blinks/dashes out of the way while it is in the air. Kat, Zed, Akali, Leblanc. They take time in a dangerous spot to kill squishies, so they should be rewarded with well-timed mobility spells against ADC's the same way they are against mages.

I love ADC's in concept, but they are horribly implemented, and the marksman update didn't do nearly enough to fix their problems which have been here since season 1.

What ADC buys 40% life steal? I run life steal runes and masteries and even then I would need BT plus Bork to get 45%, anyone not running runes and masteries like an ape would have to buy at least 3 life steal items which means you then only have one crit item which means you don't have enough crit. So, who regularly gets 40% life steal?
