Aphelios has a few problems.

1. His difficulty comes in for the wrong side

Aphelios is supposed to be difficult to play, but lets be real he isn't.

You read the primer a couple times to understand 80% of his kit, dink around in the practice tool for 10 minutes to figure out exactly how Chakrams work, and you've basically got the gist of what he does.

If you go into a game as Aphy understanding how his kit works and what the abilities do, as long as you've got a solid baseline as an ADC player, you're going to be fine. His kit conveluted, but not too complicated when you're playing him. It's super intuitive.

There's some level of strategy to burning through your guns to get your preferred combos, but lets be real you can just go with the flow for the most part.

The champion takes no more mechanical skill than any other ADC, since he's remarkably intuitive, but knowing what the fuck an enemy Aphy is doing is difficult.

2. None of his weapons have enough flavor individually

Individually, each and every one of Aphy's weapons is a great design.

If you threw them onto an individual champion and built a kit around them, they'd be great, but since you've underdeveloped each one and thrown them into the same kit, the champion is just crowded.

Each of those weapons could be developed into a full kit, but they've been cut down to the point where nothing works.

3. Moonlight Vigil just fucking sucks

I'm not saying it's weak, because it definitely isn't. We've all seen the clips of Firebombs instantly pentakilling clumped groups of squishies.

It's a potentially strong spell, but it's the most boring ult we've seen added in years.

Morello: "Ok so Morde takes people to the Shadow Realm for a fight to the death, Senna shoots a beam of light and shadow across the map, and that Punchy guy we're working on has a suplex. What's Aphelios going to have?"

CertainlyT, with a hangover: "Uhhh, yeah man. He throws a bomb and then shoots the guy."

It's clunky, bland, and honestly doesn't fit very well into the champion's gameplay.

It feels like you just ran out of time with this spell and just phoned it in.

Certainlyt didn't design aphelios's spells

he designed the mechanics of the champion (switching between guns), a very long time ago before leaving league. stashu was the one who came up with what every gun does

can you edit this?

Its also weird that if say you have calibrum and it autos for 183, Severum ALSO AUTOS for 183 there are no real tradeoffs aside from range/cc/aoe/potentialDPS/healing and I get thats kinda the point but it makes it that in no way do you need a 'galaxy brain' to play him

Weird that a champion with literally 1 single button to his entire kit that deals the damage of 4 full abilities might be a bit broken. I'd say I couldn't imagine that, but CertainlyT literally just creates champions for people who don't want to play the game but want all of the rewards of playing. Yasuo, Akali, Graves, Morde, Zoe and now Aphelios.

"CertainlyT has done it again!" Yeah, created another champ to permaban or instalose against because they're literally impossible to play poorly. He did it again alright.

He's an ADC.

He can't even be all that complicated, because no matter what his main avenue will be 'right click for massive damage'.

There is no such thing as a "complex kit" in a world where every player has access to the internet and therefore access to any guide as far as mechanics go.

[Moreso because our mirror neurons allow us to learn while watching others perform]

Riot doesn't understand this, and as a result, they make kits that simply have more tools.

And more tools equal more powers to access.

When was the last time you played a game where the hard mode gave you a plethora of tools compared to easy mode?

I know people don't like Hashinshin all that much due to his bias on certain things, but when it isn't something Riven related, he is quite knowledgeable.

"Much like every champion like Aphelios that has ever existed in any game, when you make a champion that has that much shit, eventually people are going to figure out the best, and then the complexity of the champions falls very low, because you're not really playing the entire champion, you're just playing that combo over and over again."

I have not played Aphelios so I can't give an opinion, but from what I've heard, it's already beginning to fit into this mold.

This pretty much sums up MMORPGs if you have played them. In WoW you get a ton of good spells, but more often than not you just end up spamming one to two spells, unless the cooldowns are too high to keep spamming them. Same thing with Path of Exile, where you really only tend to just pick one spell and use that for a majority of the game, or until a better option arises.

To me it seems like he only has 1 problem.

He shouldn't exist.

Dude, is it just me or is Aphelios a god awful ADC? I feel like the combination of his base movement speed, extreme lack of mobility, and squishiness, make him virtually unplayable and one of the most inneffective champions in the game right now.

When I saw his R for the first time I actually thought it was a Global Ultimate. They should make it Global and nerf him elsewhere to compensate.

Unsless Riot's balance team actually starts playing the game and seeing their creations and balancing by their in game performance and not numbers, such poor designs and keep making such stupid balancing choises until the end of LoL

Do you know why alphelio kit looks ok if you split and put in different champs?

Because HE IS THAT. He is just a mix of champions in LoL. Actually what riot is doing for every new champ is basically that, what makes the old ones bad. (You can say yummi is different but meh... she is a lulu + Sona + soraka in a way that is not healthy gameplay).. To be honest Nunu Reworks was the only thing I liked.

Another bad thing about alphelios they changed the UI to make "different" but in fact is just bad design decision, play with him is like different game and the enemy don't know what he is doing, they know that they need to jump into him because he is and adc and that is all.

Suplex

Sorry bro but the new punchy champ has a PILEDRIVER, not a suplex. It's way better. :D

Well, some people might find reading difficult, who knows ?

Just rework him and give him 4 abilities. It's not that hard. And noone will complain; he just got out.
