Please stop asking for ganks when there is no gank condition

Lùmen··78 votes·5,000 views

No matter how many times you spam pings and call me out, I can't gank a lane that is shoved into a turret or a Darius who got FB and rushed an item. Don't be surprised why you're not getting ganks when you're losing lane, because trying to save an already lost top lane isn't as ideal as putting pressure on bot, forcing the jungler to hang around there and getting easy first turrets and drags every game out of doing so.

My favorite is when I'm playing top lane and I'm pinging for a gank because my opponent is at my turret with no flash. It looks as though my jungler is finally coming when he pops the vision plant and lets my enemy know it's time to back up. Thanks for the "gank".

TBH that's fine to do as long as you follow it and don't fling it directly onto the champion you're approaching it. You can angle a scryer's bloom to stay in the fog assuming both side bushes aren't warded, if they are you have an opportunity to kill the ward to make the enemy play passive even without your presence. If the ward was there they'd be running away at around the same time, you'd just be showing a second or two sooner (which can be big depending on the champs involved). The point of that is to check for vision, if the vision is there you'd be revealed either way.

Scryer shows up on the minimap even in fog.

If a ward was there, you would get seen when it's pretty much too late for them, since they're pushed into tower. But, instead, they decided to alert the entire enemy team to their location way ahead of where any wards would have spotted them.

DUDE I GOT THIS KLED PINNED UNDER HIS TOWER AND I RAN OUT OF WARDS HURRY AND GANK MAN HE'S ONLY UP 2 LEVELS

enemy top laner has no flash half hp and is sitting under my tower aa'ing me everytime i go for creep.

ask for help.

"what do u mean gank how do i gank something like that as a jungle"

proceeds to go back into jungle and afk farm so he can then blame his team for losing lanes at the end of the game and boost his ego.

inuitmailman1 votes

Same honestly same

Regulas1 votes

The jungle does come to gank the half like no flash top. You: Suicides, then still rages at the jungle.

It's a rare situation but in your situation I often find a gank is more likely to make you kill yourself if you're that far behind then anything else.

Bańg1 votes

just yesterday my level 3 kayn flashed into a trynd under tower and gave him blue and first blood.

he then spam pinged my 200 hp ass with no cds and never came top again.

junglers are in the wrong just as much.

their mentality is what pisses me off

"Nothing is my fault my laners are the idiots here"

who knew PVE was hard.

NoPaxt4 votes

Condition 1 - Make sure my entry points already have vision. Condition 2 - Don't feed your lane ahead of time. Condition 3 - Make sure you have the health/mana and CDs to follow up.

Im not going to gank a lane thats behind on some low dmg tank, who makes no difference fed or not (relatively, a tank is a tank no matter what) vs some kind of bully like darius. Or whatever etc. Rather im going to focus on trying to snowball the lanes that will actually make a difference if fed.

Blades of Navori3 votes

So, you're saying that I can't spam for assistance when a full enemy wave with cannon minion is pushing turret at 25% HP while my HP is at 10% and the enemy is full with dash up and full item all the while my abilities are on cool-down and he has ult and I only have first buy and a biscuit?

I'm reporting for griefing.

Oriyoki3 votes

Bitch you trying to say u can't gank when I'm under their top tower? It's your fucking fault I died under their tower because of enemy ganks. Noob learn to jungle 0 ganks enemy 5000 ganks already. Reported.

True story.

People cry in the top lane because usually it's a one sided affair where the enemy Jungler is camping and their team's Jungling is doing nothing. Also when you have a carry champion in the top lane, camping for that lane is almost always ideal because they have the tools to shut down fed Marksman anyways. Why allow your Riven or Fiora top to get camped by the enemy Jungler and go 0-4 when one or two ganks could turn them into a 10-0 monster who's roaming around being 100x more useful than a Jungler who won't even have a real damage item for 15+ minutes?

Your logic is flawed in the part that Top lane doesn't have to lose and if they're cs'ing pretty decently, there's a good chance that they're losing because the enemy Jungler is being more useful than you are.

Davaken4 votes

You can't blame every lost lane on your jungler. I main jungle, and I have had games where the enemy jungler had ganked top 4 or 5 times, where I hadn't ganked a single time.

Why?

Because my laner was overextending, didn't play passive enough for me to get time to get up there, or pushed way too hard. When this happens, I usually focus on getting my bottom half of the map ahead, and just completely give up on top lane. Sure my Riven/Yasuo won't be very useful, but a couple of drakes and a fed adc/midlaner usually makes up for it.

If you really want to get ganks, coordinate with your jungler, try not to push, and try to be in a position where you can follow up on ganks.

The Yetii Rider2 votes

More importantly, ganking isn't the only strategy a jungler can have. Many junglers, like Nunu, Shyvana, Master Yi and Malphite, don't have an easy way to gank pre 6 and subpar ganks after six. You're better off trying your best not to feed and letting them farm up and control objectives.

Knalxz3 votes

Presence is really important as a jungler. just by showing up in lane every so often, or just ward spooking can get the enemy to play a completely different way and possible save your laner.

I play Eve in the jungle and me showing up once during a fight means that enemy will never go all in on my teammate again that match.

Sraeg20133 votes

Last time I asked for a gank was when a 50% HP Lux was at my tower for the past 5 minutes.

What my jungler did was blue buff, then went to our 3/0 bot lane which killed the other bot before he got there then did Gromp. Meanwhile I was enjoying Lux's interactive laning phase of getting spammed with E and not being able to get near farm without getting insta-proc'd with TLD for a quarter of my health.

THESuperStuntMan3 votes

You gotta be quick on that mute button especially as a jungler. A lot of the time your teammates give you advice to help THEM have more fun since most people care more about that then winning. It's not fun to lose their lane, so if they start losing lane, they want the jungler to come bail them out so they can have fun again. Most people don't care if they have a better chance to win the game if you help another lane win (which is a better strategy than trying to save a feeding lane).

ÂFRÏCÂN GØD1 votes

this actually brings up a valid point

Hyuns2k1 votes

Sometimes if I fall behind but I can hold lane I tell my jg to prioritize helping other lanes over mine. Get them snowballing and I'll do whatever I can to make sure the enemy laner's lead doesn't get bigger. People fail to realize that this is a team game sadly

Rockm Sockm2 votes

Stop forcing ganks when there is no win conditions.

Very Hard Engage2 votes

well maybe you should have picked a bulky/cc tank like zac or maokai so you could create a gank situation, or even lee/elise instead of a 5th damage source for the team.

like i dont know.... kayn 100% of the time makes for very lackluster team comps, which you force your team to have all for the sake of your personal fun.

Lùmen5 votes

Bad point of view, before I bought him, I played a variety of junglers mostly consisting of early game skirmishers and Sejuani. I don't gank lanes that can't be ganked, and that mostly depends on the lane's current state

Very Hard Engage1 votes

champion choice is always subjective based on whats shown on the enemy team and what complements your team.

you are failing to work with those around you and it shows.

answer this, in playing a different champion could you have ganked that lane, yes you could have, hes not 0-6 with a long sword compared to the enemies black cleaver so you showing up and 2v1ing the enemy is still doable. the issue is you dont want to even try because the risk of giving the guy 2 additional kills is even worse. BUT YOU CAN none the less.

Aloexx Ratfoot2 votes

The fact that you are arguing when it has been shown time and time again, hell someone has even done the math on it if you want to go look. Ganking a lane that is behind is a waste of time

DemainaNyx2 votes

Yes, it may be a waste of time, but sometimes the toplaner just needs the jungler to walk into lane to help break the enemies' freeze and that's it. You don't need to kill the enemy laner, you just need to get the minion wave away from the enemies tower so your top laner can attempt to farm without needing to be that over extended.

You don't need to just see ganks as killing the enemy laner, sometimes the pressure of you just showing up in lane gives your laner a way back into the game.

And, on a side note, I've had junglers that don't want to gank top cause it's losing (which is fine), but they then refuse to gank any other lane because they need to farm up to make up for this "useless top laner." Doesn't matter how free the gank is or what champion they are playing, they insist they need to farm instead of helping the other lanes.

Lùmen2 votes

lol He tries to put it on me when I picked X champion in a normal blind pick game.. Not to mention you're wrong, there is no point in ganking that lane and there is nothing to say about that.

Very Hard Engage2 votes

you have the capacity to win, your top laner believes you showing up can make a difference.

now instead of telling him "i dont think well win" you dont show up at all or communicate with him and make yourself look bad, when you can win as far as 0-4 if only you show up.

i agree its better to set up a winner, than it is to break even. you are in essence trading your top laner for instead a fed bot laner.

but we both know you're really just another assassin wannabe jungler who wants to get big, and because you cant 1v1 the top laner, you dont bother showing up there. hence the kayn pick, someone who very clearly stomps when ahead.

Lùmen4 votes

First of all, attitude readjustment. Now

Second of all, you're letting emotion control what you're saying because the point you made is irrational. I don't care what jungler I play as long as I enjoy playing him or her. I know you're a salty toplaner who always gets ditched for obvious reasons so you always try to go for personal attacks rather than rationally arguing.

Very Hard Engage4 votes

fact - you can turn around any 0-4 situation on any jungler just by showing up, the only losing scenario is when you both miss everything, your auto attacks and your presence is more than enough in the early game.

you're just too stubborn to admit it.

the only situation is maybe darius, or olaf.

i watch dom and nb3 most days and they consistently screw over fed laners just by showing up, in fact, they dont ignore the top laner whos losing at all because they understand they're grossly out of position and they're AN EASY GANK TARGET. something that they take for themselves as a means of getting big.

they dont let their top laner go 0-4 or worse to begin with, but you let it happen on your watch. thats why they are better than you.

you are deliberately going "man this guys 0-2, hes no good, i better go somewhere else and not waste my time on this trash heap"

Biggest thing is wards. As a midlaner, I'm not keen to help bot if the river and brushes are unwarded. I can be easily jumped on my way there. I can only place so many wards myself.

Hyuns2k2 votes

Depending on the situation you don't really need to get a kill out of a gank (while that would be the best situation). Sometimes your presence will make a difference. If your laner is struggling fake a gank or at least show your face. Make sure the enemy laner knows that you will punish him for going too aggressive. Just showing up makes a huge difference. Or if one lane has a freeze go and help break that shit. If one of your lanes is struggling and you don't show your face once its because that enemy laner KNEW you wouldn't show up because you never even showed your face once and they'll just keep feeding on that laner and then go cause chaos everywhere else. If you think the point of a gank is just to get kills you are very mistaken. Just gettting sums or relieving pressure off of your laner is a huge win. Make their laning phase easier and the whole game goes easier. It's a team game

Raistlin1 votes

I rarely play jungle becouse people cry shame and blame jungler when they make stupid mistakes.

But when i do, i tell them occasionaly i will not gank if there is no ward, if they push and feed their lane.

Id rather gank a lane of a player who is skilled to get a kill for the team, than keep trying to help hopeless unskilled players. Than eventually ,even the hopeless get fed and they rightclick their way to victory.

BigBellBrute2 votes

You can't gank a lane that's shoved in? It's called a turret dive. Kill enemy laner, get tower. If you don't know how to do that, learn.

BigBellBrute2 votes

OK I've baited them into my tower, they're at half health with no flash. Sorry. Can't gank a losing lane. Ok I'm tearing em up, they're at 1/4 health with no flash and their support just backed. Sorry. Can't gank a shoved in lane.
Ok then we're right in the middle. Sorry. Can't gank. Gotta farm.
We're about to take baron. Sorry. I'm just not feeling it. C'mon, we can get Dragon Sorry. Gotta farm.

Game's over.
Stop blaming me you horrible laners!!!!

I wish more people would understand this. However I think it is also the responsibility of the jungle to communicate with his team and explain why he isn't tanking a lane or camping another etc. Have had a bunch of games recently where I was flat out ignored for most of the match until then jungler would respond out of the blue like 30 minutes in, getting ignored like that makes me wanna start reporting people. Just communicate please!

Lùmen3 votes

At, first I tried, but it got me into unnecessary fights with laners who would always try to say they're right and not admit that they have to sit in a losing lane and just wait for things to get better because the lane can't be ganked... I'd have to copy paste an essay explaining this whenever someone does this.

TwitchInMyPants7 votes

Dude, nah, you have no need to type an essay to your teammate wasting 5-20s of movement starting an argument just to explain your reasoning to a random who just wants to blame you in the first place. If someone is begging for a gank and then gets mad when they don't get it, they feel entitled to it and are basically questioning your ability to jungle. There's no negotiating with someone like that.

Had a fior who fed a darius 4 kills at the 7 minute mark while I was securing bot and mid lane 3 kills. Fior is is now 0-4 says "KINDRED ARE YOU GONNA GANK MY LANE OR JUST RUN AROUND THE JUNGLE WOTH YOUR FINGER UP YOU ASS"

I simply told him "hey darius is 4-0 if I gank there is an insane chance he can, just 2v1 us. He rushed ninja tibi bro, just stop pushing your lane and chill".

Well he snapped he ran down mid and not lane feeding kills. At the end he said "I won't get banned for this, ive done far worse things in this game. Learn to gank next time kindred"
