Edge of Night shield should break on attacking an enemy champion.
This way it would serve its purpose of helping melee assassins getting in for a kill but discourage most ranged abusers from mindlessly buying it. Thoughts?

that would also hurt melee champions even more because now they will just get completely destroyed the instant they get near anyone. A ranged champion can attack from range while a melee champion is going to be in your face, they would much rather not have the shield break just because they auto'd something or used an utility skill that sets up their combo
No.
Since most melee assassins have a gap-closer they can use from range to get close and use the edge of night shield to make themselves harder to peel off, this would also make the shield pointless to have on melee assassins too. At that point it'd probably end up moving over to the less mobile classes (divers and skirmishers) to allow them to get in close more easily.
how about it can be cast while moving and not be stopped by taking damage but require you to be a minimum distance of 300 units away from an enemy champion, that would work for melee and ranged would have to take a ton of risk by doing so.
Lux and Morg(and many more) would have a field day stopping all these assassins in their tracks because their shields have not activated...
