Kill count should be awarded to the player that did the most damage to the enemy target

As the title suggests kill count should be given to the player that did the most damage to the enemy target (with exception on minion kills). Assists should go to the people that did lesser damage. Rather than having the guy that got that last hit in.

It would serve to better represent the ones who truly put in the work and end a lot of toxic behavior that stem from people who cite their score as an indication of skill while the people who put in the real work get no credit. It would affect player morale as well.

The score board already shows who did the most damage to you after you have died but it doesn't give the individual who did the most damage that credit.

while i do like the idea a lot, i would see this becoming problematic... for example.. if i am really fed... i WANT to spread out some gold to my teammates i can only have 6 items... that extra gold isn't going to help me any.. any my teammates can use it

this would make this a lot harder to do if the person who did the most damage would ALWAYS get the kill.

imo its easier to NOT ks than it is to give away a kill to someone who has no damage if this was implemented

if anything, I should get an assist if someone pokes me but I never accidentally hit them.

But...if you don't land the last hit, you didn't kill them. Assists aren't that bad.

I actually agree with OP. The last hit determination is a stupid and tired mechanic and really only useful for minion gold. I can't tell you how many times I've lost teamfights because the dps players wanted to snipe the kill for stats as opposed to actually winning the fight. It is absolutely toxic to teamwork.

If they just split the gold evenly among those who contributed to the fight it with the highest damage getting the stat and a small bonus it would work out better than the stupid system we have now.
