Sona Will Become Viable in Competitive Again?

Sona has been a champion that has been struggling in the current meta as she just couldn’t keep up with the meta supports like morgana and rakan. But, with the 8.15 gold income items cost increasing by 50 I predict she will be an S tier champion more drafted in major regions. Why? Because before supports can buy 3 health potion and a refillable potion. Which means they’ll survive longer from the pokes. But with players only being able to buy 2, this single potion change is something I believe would put nami and sona in the meta. Nami has been drafted a couple times as a counter to morgana but she’s not drafted all that much from major regions. So she’s already being sorta picked. Because champions like Morgana and Fiddle heavily relying on stopwatch, Sona and Nami could do just fine with biscuit delivery which is a great healing and mana source. Mana is incredibly valuable to sona in the early game because proccing her passive power cord can cost so much mana biscuit delivery will help her stay in lane and give some mana. Because of Sona’s high utility from her heals she should be able to outlast her opponents. But because 8.15 just dropped hours ago its way too early to tell.

I wish sona players actually had to experience a nerf that put here at a 46% winrate or worse so they can experience a real struggling champion for once.

You mean like shortly after runes reworked when literally everything Sona had got hit and then after all the runes she used got hit?

Has her winrate dropped below 50% in the past few years? I feel like it hasn't because we would have about 5 post daiily complaining about it if it had considering you guys think she struggles when it's 52%+

The condescension isn't really necessary, but yes, she fell quite a bit at the start of the year. She received a slew of nerfs, both to herself and all of the tunes she used, which left her in a really bad state for a while.

The reason she's doing well now is because the changes since have been very kind to her overall, she actually came out ahead of the pack during the enchanted shield changes, since her shield is already weak enough that it didn't get a nerf, but she uses Athene's super well, so she got a nice boost in power from that. Not to mention the small AD buff she got a few months ago.

She could even wield item 3100 better than some assassins.

She is struggling she has never been picked in the summer split in competitive.

Neither has most of the roster. That isn't how struggling works. If you tell me someone is struggling and I can see hey you aren't played in pro AND you have terrible performance in Solo Queue than sure. If your criteria for struggling is just not being competitively viable then sona is going to be in line for the rest or eternity because she would never get attention before most of the games champions.

Sona is incredibly far from being top tier

Nami has been chall/master tier for like months

RedCyclone1 votes

Probably never, unless ungodly overpowered or reworked

Sona's a support that relies on scaling, not really the thing pro players look for in supports considering their job is to get the carries through early

To be honest I kinda hope not. I dont like watching pros use her. Fine by me that they don't use her.

Youd probably be grateful too considering that if she's picked in pro Riot has a history of nerfing her pretty hard.

Morgana is an EXTREMELY favorable matchup for sona. You will run her out of lane. You definitely should pick that matchup any time.
