Aurelion sol Nerfs question

could I per chance get some deeper insight into the Aurelion sol nerfs? I recently started playing him (almost exclusively) in ranked and he's done well for me, but not to the point where I thought he was op in any definition of the term. I actively had to play different from the way i'm used to playing (--extremely aggressively and avoiding other lanes' bullshit) in order to really shine with him. hacking off a lot of his damage from his W hurts his early game where he's most vulnerable and the changes to his E weren't positive. Requiring him to be out of combat to use his E lowers his skill cap considerably as it used to be usable as a method to escape situations that were about to go south quick. Of course the trade off is that you couldn't roam because the E would be on cooldown, and I thought that was a fair trade (i.e. saving your skin in exchange for lack of global presence)

I was hoping I could get someone to explain the reasoning behind drastically reducing his early game potential and "Buffing" him at levels 16-18 when games rarely go that long in the elos he's played.

Uhh before the changes, Aurelion Sol couldn't use his E at all if he'd been hit unless he moved enough to build his Escape Velocity back up to 100 stacks. You can still use it to escape something that's about to go south fast, but you can also use it if you've avoided being hit or hitting things in the last few seconds.

The other thing is that a good Aurelion Sol is really strong. Several high-tier players were saying that he is, in fact, busted when the player knows what he's doing. You say that his early game is fairly weak, but are you starting Q or W? If you're starting W, you turn it on, push the first wave, force your opponent to tank an entire minion wave while you're booping them just to get the farm without it going into tower, then get level 2 spike as soon as the next waves arrives, stun them, and kill them with your boops. It's something that, as long as you can play with his positioning properly, is extremely simple to do and guarantees you a first blood. And Aurelion Sol can do this to anybody. Why? Because his stars allow him to push a wave much faster than anyone else in the game can deal with level 1. His early game is extremely powerful because if you start booping your lane opponent, they HAVE to turn and fight you or die. If they turn, but don't have a mobility tool or something to stop the boops, you just kill them; you have the same movement speed as them, so once they're in the star field, it's flash, burst, or die.

Also, notice that the base damage from his passive was increased early, basically taking his reliance off of his W to deal damage in the early game.
