Pretty much every big rework is very good. But many reworks in "class updates" (especially the assassin one) are just kind of.. bad Malzahar Fizz Rengar Shaco

Yi Bencheikh12 votes

the assassin update is a joke lol

Dani El Pezglobo7 votes

Yep, they should revert lb , rengar and shaco reworks , all of them trash

Talon's and Kat's changes were definitely for the better though, I think their kits are now in a way healthier spot amongst other assassins

Kat is still aids to play against for most melee champions, her dagger zone is really strong. Though fortunately it's kinda balanced in that if Katarina decides to try and farm in melee she's going to get roasted by most melees.

How many ad champs ARE in mid lane, though?

LankPants16 votes

I'd add to that list Graves , Zyra , Skarner , Mordekaiser , Akali , Sejuani , Zac , Rammus , Maokai , Syndra and to some extent Brand , Corki , Vladimir and Caitlyn as well.

I think class reworks have been overwhelmingly failures, especially the last 2.

I actually like a few of them off this list, like Graves, Mao and Brand rework.

Is it because I have poor tastes?

LankPants9 votes

I have my reasons for disliking each of them.

In Grave's case it's that he's just cancer incarnate. Ranged bruiser/assassin who clears the jungle taking 0 damage has a long ranged execute, insane ranged burst and one of the best tank steroids of any champ. I just hate that a champ like that is even allowed to exist.

Maokai's just a mess of a champion. His entire rework seemed to lack a direction. He doesn't really seem to do anything, he's just there, with his masses of misplaced CC, completely interchangeable with any other tank. He's far less unique than he was before his rework where he was able to make his team bulkier.

Brand I was more on the fence about. I don't think there was anything wrong with the rework functionally, there's the potential for it to be one of the best out of the mage reworks. His problem is numerical, he just lacks the scaling to really be a midlaner and has been mostly shafted into support. That's the main thing I take issue with on Brand.

I like the 2-shell mechanics and the cone blasty AA they went with him. I see that to be unique and a good addition to him as a character.

I think as long as they remove or severely reduce the minion/monster knockback of his AA, fix his admittedly stupid ultra-tank steroids and replace or shifting that budget with something else, and do something with his "press R" syndrome. He can be a good rework.

The foundation imo is there, which is why I "like" it. It just wasn't well thought out when they integrated his new gameplay mechanics into his kit.

You got me there. I can admit that Mao's ulti is less unique than before, and I do miss his old ulti.

That said in the rest of the kit I tbh only have issues with the gimmick 'enraged' brush sapling thingy. Otherwise idk, I think the other tweaks are okay imo. But I can be wrong, obviously.

I can get behind this.

You put best girl Sejuani on the list of bad reworks?

T R I G G E R E D

LankPants7 votes

Yes, Sejuani was a significantly better champion before her rework.

The Sejuani rework took everything that was unique about her as a champion and did away with it in favour of generic tank strengths. Sejuani before her rework had the offensive strengths of both a Tank and a Bruiser with strong engage and high damage but she lacked the defensive tools either of them would generally have, having no extra durability outside of what she built and a completely insignificant 25 armour.

Rather than actually working with what Sejuani had Riot just decided it was better to make her the most generic tank ever. Tell me, what reason is there for picking Sejuani over Gragas now? It used to be that Sejuani was a significantly stronger teamfight threat with better damage and hard engage, but very poor disengage and far less durability especially early. Now they're similar enough that you should always just pick the stronger of the two.

Sej's rework was a very poor rework, it's amongst the worst.

Clayblob22 votes

He put graves, brand maoki, sej, and zac on there TRIGGERED

Dani El Pezglobo3 votes

Leblanc totally ineed rework when she was ok (maybe she needs a bit nerf q) ,so better do an assasin rework making her op as fuck, and nerf her till she is 45 % winrate, then call her mage instead of assasin , and say u ll rework her again taking her mobility (r) , which is her most caracteristic part.

Really smart put waveclear on an assasin that is ranged and have burst and mobility

Yeah Sej went from being in about 2% of my games to 0% of my games. I think it's a real bad sign when after a rework a champion's play rate drops significantly.

sej twen2 votes

i actually think she's pretty ok right now, if it wasnt for zac or gragas she would definitely be #1 tank jungler

FantasySniper4 votes

Yeah, and that's the problem. She has no strengths over Zac or Gragas. People in fact liken her as an "Inferior Gragas".

Mister Support1 votes

....no. Sej is engage, Gragas is disengage. Their kits are overall very different.

LankPants4 votes

Sej's Q and Gragas's E are the same spell. Sej's W and Gragas's Q have the same use case. Sej's passive shares a use case with the DR on Gragas's W. This means the actual differences in their kits are Gragas's Passive, W and R VS Sej's E and R. Since Gragas's R is pretty much strictly better than Sejuani's R the only question between their use is "can Sej's E outpower Gragas's W, passive and the excess power from R?". The answer to this currently is "with 2+ melees".

This isn't a good division between the champions though, with old Sej I picked her for her superior engage and teamfight damage/ability at the expense of durability and extreme disruption. Now the logical reason for picking her is just "she's better because my comp says so".

That was because her ulti was disgustingly OP while the rest of her kit alone was hot garbage (though scaling was okay). Can't imagine why that got reworked...

Automated Riven3 votes

Poppy and Sion destroyed their playstyles. So in that sense they sucked balls. Yorick is ok cause he does the same thing. But he is relegated to a side lane without anywhere else to be.

Joseraph5 votes

Poppy needed a playstyle break imo. She was an assassin that did 1 damage early on. When you can get bullied out of lane by AP Zed, something is wrong.

i actually hate the new Yorick . i literally have no idea how to stop this freaking guy.

he just does WAY to much damage for how tanky he is its like a freaking Nasus except that doesn't even have to stack... so u cant stop him.

He does need to stack! He needs to stack ghouls. Kappa

Well, it's true. Just like Illaoi relies on her tentacles to be useful. Yorick is really weak without his ghouls/maiden

Juggernaut as a whole is a failed concept in league. Immobile slow unkillable statsticks with carry level damage IF they get into range. Good peel=useless, trash peel=unstoppable nightmare.

Dextix LT18 votes

Immobile, yes. Slow, yes. Carry damage? Hell no, for that to happen they have to continue sticking to their target as most of them have ramping up damage.

I mean, a class that has clear defined strenghts and weaknesses? WHAT HORROR! What failure!!!! /s

TriForce is the most expensive item in the game, and rushing it makes you squishy. Play this lane like Jax, Nasus, Irelia, or whatever other champions usually rush Tri. Bully him out and his spike will be delayed and watered down.

Actually rabadons is the most expensive, but I still agree with ur post no hate :3

Nidalee and Warwick reworks were AMAZING

i mean they effectively undid nid's rework in season 5 when they threw her into the jungle, but that doesn't mean the 4.10- 5.4 rework wasn't amazing...

PrinceOfStorms1 votes

How so? Letting her hunt jungle creeps was the change in s5, and it made her actually good because you wouldn't be throwing spears from lane, where you could easily dodge them.

they removed the % damage from her traps... the doubled the cast time on her spear from .125 seconds to .25 thus they removed her ability to lane in season 5

then in season 6 they removed her auto attack resets. (which truthfully were certainly abuse-able in the jungle.. but were very useful during lane) and they the destoryed ANY hoipe of her EVER being able to lane again by removing they pounce reset until lvl 16... (i mean yes it scaled at 6 and 11 but its a MASSIVE difference and it means you cant CS with it anymore. (pounce was your main CSing ability when you had lane pressure and could safely use your melee kitty form)

they also nerfed her heal and they increase ALL her kitty form abilities by 1 second from 5 to 6 seconds

so yeah... her rework bright her from a nuclear tipped tree trunk mid laner to a top and mid ar 50% win rate in every elo, and even some support and jungle) with a slight winrate decrease

you could first pick and the enemy had no idea what lane you were going to counterpick you with

i would literally say "fill except adc" and lock in nidalee as first pick

thats what her rework gave her... they took THAT away from me.

i mean granted i cant do that anymore with the new daft system anyways.. but i would love to play her in lane again... and i dont ever see that happening... so i at LEASt want her to be better than 45-46% winrate in the jungle role that was forced on me...

PrinceOfStorms6 votes

That was less undoing her rework and more Riot deciding that they didn't want people playing Nidalee.

Sraeg20132 votes

The never-ending circle of Nidalee changes.

  1. Nidalee is picked all the time.
  2. Nidalee is nerfed into something useless.
  3. Nidalee is not picked anymore.
  4. Nidalee is reworked into the opposite build (AP->AD or AD->AP)
  5. Go back to 1.
