Why in God's name does Illaoi do so much damage?
Illaoi does so much damage it is literally insane. It seems like her only counters are squishy enough to get dropped down to 50% health with one burst from her and she scales too well.

the issue with Illaoi is that her success is put in her opponents hands rather than in her own. She is dependent on you/your team being dumb enough to fight in her ult- under the impression that u can 3v1 her in it. You cant. If Illaio ults you run away. Thats just what you do. Disengage and go back in once her ult is on CD. UNLESS your team is just way ahead and u can do whatever u want. In that case, do whatever u want.
Because it is all she gets, she doesn't get tankiness, CC, mobility, or range, so all she gets is that damage.
Also, she has quite a lot of counterplay once you understand her kit. She is utterly reliant on having a tentacle nearby, and Illaoi (unless fed) isn't going to kill you with this her W.
Her damage drops off a cliff if you dodge her E, her Q is also slowish and can be orbwalked around.
Most importantly of all, you can literally just walk away from her and her kit doesn't fluctuate her being able to chase. She ultis, literally just walk away and reset.
She gets kited, easy to disengage from her ult..
Basically she is a frontline carry that needs a tank not to peel her to keep her alive, but to keep the enemy team in place long enough for her to combo.
Because that's all she is. Damage
Also, technically, dodging her skills is the way to avoid her damage, but then all you end up doing is staying out of her skill range and allowing her to out farm you.
She has no mobility. She is easily kited. And there are champions who out sustain her so long as you eliminate her tentacles, avoid fighting her in her ultimate, and buy grievous wounds early on.

Because she literally has nothing else? She has no mobility or hard CC. Her range is close to non existent. She is a juggernaut, champions who do a lot of damage if they manage to get close to you.
