@Riot- Is this the direction you wanted to take the game?
Even though it took time for me to get here, but I truly believe season 6 changes were overwhelmingly positive. ADC item diversification and the new masteries are the of the best changes to the game. Poppy, Taric rework were great.
There are some major problems the season had-
- Ekko (he's been tuned down), but I believe he came in to prominence because gauntlet and sunfire are too strong right now.
- Sated Devourer + Rageblade (I am so glad the new jungle item is replacing Devourer)
- Jungle tier-list did not shake up at all during this season (all we saw in higher elo were- NIdalee, Kindred, Gragas, Elise, Lee Sin, some time Rek'Sai)
- In lower-elo Xin, Master-Yi, Udyr, Shyvana ran havoc with the Sated Devourer. Master-Yi with Sated+Botrk or RB+tank is insane.
With the upcoming mage update, here's what concerns me-
- Not a lot of 100+ AP items
- No Magic Pen or Tank busting AP items (Liandry's is niche and void has become a must-buy)
I play Mid/ADC and jungle. Everyone has favorite champions, that's a given. I like playing assassins, control mages and almost every ADC. So obviously, I'm inclined to hate tanks. lol. But, this season, I feel that it has become increasingly hard for control mages to go through tanks, but ADCs shred them so easily. What's worse is as an ADC I can just stack crit and kill tanks. Stacking crits is good for anything. It's good against squishies, its good against tanks. Sometimes, without even having LW items I can shred tanks. The two LW items are usually 5th or 6th items for ADCs in most games, but mages have to get void 3rd or 4th in order to do damage. Also, for AD assassins, Maw, Duskblade and Ghostblade all give armor pen. Mages have to resort to Abysal, Liandrys and void. Abysal is only good against ap heavy teams, so its not a good buy against ad heavy comps, liandry's is niche, the AOE dmg reduction on it makes it not as effective on AOE based mages so void is a must. What I hate the most about the state of AP items right now is- deathcap. With games getting shorter and shorter, deathcap is rarely seen in the game. And because deathcap requires more AP to be effective its a bad item to start off with. ADCs can start off with their major items off the bat, but mages get around to deathcap so late, and it's so expensive. deathcap is usually a 4th-6th buy now. its so essential for mages and i really feel some sort of adjustment is required. Also, I really believe the MR items, especially Maw (that 10 MR reduction barely did anything) is very strong right now.
I have a PBE account that I use frequently, so I've already tried out the new items. I really like the changes, but I just want to ask- is this the direction Riot wants to go?- Assasins<->ADCs->Tanks. Assasins<->Mages<->ADCs. Assasins<-Tanks->Mages Assasins try and kill ADCs and control mages, ADCs pretty much damage everyone, mages try and zone, clear waves, provide utlity, try and damage backline, but do not shred tanks, while tanks provide CC, disruptions, and soak dmg
I'm totally ok if that's the philosophy. I know I've generalized greatly and it's a lot more complicated than that and certain champs are outliers (eg. Malz counters tanks). But I just want to know what the general philosophy is.
