@Riot, why play 10 matches instead of fixed placement based on mmr?

From all the posts lately, it seems that it doesn't matter how well you perform, the system will place you where your mmr is. So why waste time playing these 10 placement matches if the players will be placed in a division that represents their mmr? Might as well just, boom, put them there.

Wrong.

Last year I went to prove my friend you can get from Bronze to Gold in under a week playing champions I don't even own, nor ever played, so took a spare Bronze 3 support main account and went to placement matches.

10/10 and got Gold 4.

That proves my point...and you didn't prove anything to your friend except that your mmr influences your placement, not how many placement games you win.

It doesn't matter if your smurf was Bronze 3. Your mmr was higher than the Bronze level.

So my post is correct.

Unranked account ends up in Bronze 2 after first ranked games ever. Then after about 15-20 games is at 20% winrate and falls down 2 divisions. Next season ends up in Gold 4 after going 10/10 in placements.

What was your post again?

Because fucking riot wants you to believe that you have influence on your rank while they just fuck your life up anyways.
