Can any Vlad mains offer some advice

I'm trying to pick and learn Vladamir but at the same time I am struggling even in blind pick where I feel strong early on in laning phase but in team fights throughout the midgame its somewhat difficult because I often feel like I don't deal nearly enough burst damage but then I get bursted in team fights. So I was wondering if someone could offer advice or builds for the early to mid game. I've tried looking at different builds, rushing protobelt, Rylai's, spirit visage, but I guess where I struggle the most is the midgame.

While item 3116 is strong on most mages nowadays, I'd say you only need either or item 3152 , not both (and I personally prefer the latter for the cdr).

During teamfights midgame, if you're able to protobelt, ult, blow your E while being in your bloodpool, assuming both sides are even, you should be able to deal significant amount of damage, absorbing tonnes of damage while being healthy, and slowing enemy team long enough for your team to ace. I personally prefer going item 3065 item 3158 item 3152 item 3157 for full cdr, dmg, and some tankiness, and just build w/e after depending on the situation. Then again, I ain't vlad main so whaddaiknow.
