Is support healing a bit too strong right now?

As a support main, I don't particularly play heal based champions or champions who healing within their kit with the exception of Taric as I am more of an engage support kind of player. Anyhow I won't go into too much depth about healing in general. However to my point a quick google search tells me that the top tier supports currently are Soraka, Sona, Janna and Blitzcrank. While Janna doesn't have a heal outside of her ultimate (Monsoon) she does have a shield which strongly benefits from item 3504 item 3174. As for Blitzcrank his kit just has that binary utility to make him a strong pick in general. However two stand out on this list and it's Sona and Soraka with buffs to windspeaker's blessings and healing buff itemization they have become powerful picks( Not to mention Sona's direct buffs). I would also like to add that I'm not looking at this from a competitive point of view.

So I ask, what are your thoughts in general.

Let the support have strong healing, that way, people will think supports are strong and play support more often.

item 3174 is garbage on Janna. She doesn't do damage.

No it's not overbearing. I completely understand your points though. Healing doesn't let you face tank like mondo. The best heals are conditional or gated by cooldowns and costs. Heals in this game lets you do 2 things. Survive 1-3 more seconds during a fight and if that is enough to turn the tide of a battle the enemy feels it. Secondly extends your time in lane and gives you the ability to bait the enemy into hard engaging. It's frustrating not getting the kill and dieing because of a last second heal bait job.

i think that this season, sustain of all types is overbearingly strong. not just coming from supports, but from items and masteries as well. there are too many masteries giving out too much HP back, too many items built from vampiric scepter, too much hp regain on targon item, too much sustain on jungle items, too much "I'll let you heal and nothing else" from support AP items andtoo much healing coming in from sona and soraka and generally too much healing overall.

aside from mundo. he sucks this season.

It is. try hexakill mode. Sona is overbearing in it. The heals are to strong.

as a support main, does that list only show me the backlash from haveing a "fill" option, its gonna have a effect on the least picked role more than others. ppl are gonna end up haveing to support, so it only make sense that they are gonna pick champions that are easier mechanically to play.

did a quick google search myself on top picked champions at LCS:

the list for support was: Braum Trundle Karma Bard.

and the only 2 here that saw any ban was: Braum Trundle

Yes healing is overbearing when a soraka heals back all the damage you do to anyone as a fed Kled with grevious wounds. Healing is overbearing.

I like that healing is a thing now. There is some diversity in the items and paths and we have such that offer more AP and offense, others which provide healing and utility and ofc defensive items for tanky supports

As someone who jungles a lot it is annoying to have a sona or soraka bot lane because raka has no engage and sona just has her ult.
