Remember when League was a game made for American and European audiences?

I remember. Now League has been changed into a game only fit for Chinese and mostly Asian cultures. If anyone doesn't know, Riot made this move to let Chinese play more games by shortening game spans. Strategy and slow pace games have been replaced with rng, twitch-based skills, and minimizing game planning.

It would be nice if the devs made 2 league of legends games, instead of forcing players into this nonsense. I'm not a fan of this LOL either.

No, This game was made for everyone. Not for European and American audiences nor the Chinese audiences, everyone. That's why there's servers around the globe.

Many westerners can also like the current state of the game, not only Chinese. because you don't like it doesn't mean the rest of the west don't like it.

Stop with the generalization and gatekeeping.

Honestly, when you say Asians, you only refer to China.

Koreans don't want a one shot meta, the Japanese don't care, we Indians don't have a fucking server. Riot would much prefer lubing their holes and bowing down in front of their chinese overlords.

strategy and slow pace games

You mean the era where Korea (an Asian country) completely dominated League and dictated the meta?

New changes benefit NA more than anyone else and they still can't compete. Stop blaming China for it.

Riot has no integrity period, adding more crit items and balancing champs based on 10% of the players is just stupid.

The point of league, FROM THE GET GO, was to be a "dumbed down" version of Dota that more people could get into easily.

Wait what happens if I'm from Spain and I enjoy the game

Can I ask for the chinesse citizenship ?

I will never understand this bizarre logic. So only Chinese/Asian people enjoy fast paced games?

Baby Ghoul11/21/2019, 1:20:56 AM5 votes

It's not just the Chinese market that's the reason for this change.

Many western games have an emphasis on the "get in and get out" model like Fortnite and battle royale games in general. Before Overwatch started going down hill, the popularity of that game reflected a desire for shorter matches and more accessibility in this genre. Gamers are leaning towards short bursts of gaming, rather than the traditional grind. That's a trend that's only growing.

League wants to attract new players, and most new players are going to be kids who grew up playing those fast paced games. However, Riot can't really do that without sacrificing what made League special in the first place.

So we're kind of stuck in this awkward place where nobody is happy anymore.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that riot games (an indie american company) was completely bought out by tencent (a massive corporate chinese company.)

Chinese servers also get useful additions to the client. Like being able to test ping before entering a match. Last I was told anyhow.

You mean when it was good?

MetalGearTeemo11/21/2019, 9:02:38 PM4 votes

Match this with tencent pulling a power play within china where they basically held their game catalogs hostage if lan centers carried Dota 2 in China as well.

Funny since league is a game made on stolen dota champ forum concepts that pendragon looted.

When you play a Western MMO you will see how "serious" it is. LoL was that. Now you have quick, flashy, annoyingly twitchy gameplay and so many on-screen messages like in free-2-play Asian MMOs. LoL is that now.

Go trough a German city and then to an Asian city. Blinking neon lights, loud music, you get epileptic seizures there. Now go trough Washington. Not so much.

It's their culture, and those fucking Sailor Moon skins made it even worse, so I have to turn off the sound.

Sylaelque11/20/2019, 8:14:13 PM1 votes

It is a Korean one shoot meta because Koreans love fast phased games while Chinese players prefers a bit more strategical like Dota.
