I disagree with both of you.
Taunting your opponent because they're losing is dumb Neanderthal stuff and explains why sports are declining.
Taunting your opponent for winning is also dumb and childish. If you're so insecure in yourself as an athlete or a professional or a game master - my term for videogame and board game athletes because lets be honest there's nothing athletic about board games and videogames. Logic reasoning and muscle memory are the staple of games plus it sounds way cooler - that you HAVE to put others down to prove yourself in some way by saying "I'm better than you" or "you're not better than me" then you need psychological help for your self esteem issues and a good dose of reality. there's ALWAYS going to be someone better it's part of life.
If the Olympics had a 5 minute celebratory dance every time someone did better than the person before them that would be the most annoying thing to see and would possibly be enough to start wars. Imagine watching the quarterback dance every time he threw a great pass for 5 yards or a first down, imagine seeing a center in basketball start doing pushups right after tipping the ball and flexing, and imagine a boxer or ufc fighter acting like a pro wrestler from WWE.
Professionals who KNOW they're talented and that they have skill don't showboat. Only rookies and people looking for attention. Truly talented people are dignified and everyone sees them and thinks "wow I wish I could be as good as they are".
Showboaters are divas. Leave it to the cheerleaders.
Happy Gilmore's shooter mcgavin or whatever his name was always did that dumb pistol thing every hole he made. It was a perfect satire of sports taunting. Repetitive and annoying to watch. When you showboat that's what you look like. Maybe one day you'll be made into a meme.
celebrate by doing something that no one else can perceive like looking at your fans and smiling at the thought of hard work and natural talent paying off and act like you've been there before. 50% of people win. And if you're losing - you're losing. There doesn't need to be a reason. Try to win and if you don't don't worry about it. Maybe they were better or maybe there was a factor that made it unfair. Either way you lost. Go win your next match. Humbly by knowing you're still pretty decent and that there's always room for improvement with the right amount of effort. Not by flaming a winner about their dedication (I.e. Calling then a no life) or complaining about disadvantages (the wind caught my dart! Or this pool table isn't level!) what would you do if someone who was literally handicapped beat you? "OH YOURE HANDICAPPED SO THATS WHY YOU WON I WAS GOING EASY ON YOU, NO LIFE GO PLAY WITH YOUR COLORING BOOK I GET LAID EVERY DAY" I mean get real. Everyone deserves to feel happy about winning, but losing shouldn't be more of a disappointment than it already is for anyone.
that's my view on showboating, taunting, and gg ez
I apologize in advance for the handicapped remarks, but I feel they add weight to my opinion and I hope no one was offended. It might not look like it but I'm actually standing up for handicapped people's right to enjoy winning.
