An important message from everyone who understands balance mains to Katarina mains

As the title suggests, this post is a response to the currently posted Katarina post, specifically the part about having no cast time for Shunpo: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/n48HBN8V-an-important-message-from-katarina-mains-to-riot

Adding an instantaneous blink to an ability with a 14 second cool down (decreasing with levels and with CDR) ability is a horrible idea, it's basically putting flash on an ability (not mentioning Zoe's wonderful pickup). Shunpo has a range of 725 units, while flash has a range of 400 units. There is a reason why flash has a 300 second (5 minutes) cooldown. The excuse of "but it requires a target unit to use" is not a valid point for why Shunpo is able to be without a cast time.

tldr;

Flash has a 300 second cooldown (5 minutes) with a cast range of 400 units. Able to be used whenever. Shunpo has a 14 -> 8 seconds cooldown based on level (excluding cooldowns) with a cast range of 725 units. Only usable vs target unit, Jarvan IV's Demacian Standard, Thresh's Dark Passage, and jungle plants.

Those who support this idea to make Shunpo an instantaneous blink are driven by pure favoritism towards their champion.

Edit: I would deeply appreciate anyone who disagrees to leave an explanation as to why they disagree, as just downvoting and leaving just shows bias, making this discussion useless.

The cast time on Shunpo is so minuscule that it’s only accomplishment is creating frustration for Katarina players. The delays in her Preparation and Bouncing Blade are enough indication of Katarina’s Intentions that also create clear danger zones for her opponents.

Furthermore, your comparison with Flash is atrocious, it is a valid point that Shunpo’s targeting is limited, and you can’t discredit a group of players by claiming that supporting a change is “favoritism.” I have no interest in Katarina and I think it would be a beneficial change.

I'm pretty sure that thread is just Pushback against Added Counterplay. Kinda like they did with Leblanc.

Frankly it should be ignored.

Personally i think the only valid thing in their post is that she should target her shunpo target for auto attacks instead of shunpoing to a target then running back to her previous auto attack target.

I lost every bit of interest in katarina the moment she got her kit reworked. The champ was so wonderfully fun to play, easy to counter, and most importantly balanced.

I say revert her.

So what are you getting at? Put Shunpo on a 5 minute cooldown and let her passive cool it down as the game progress?

There is a minor delay when you cast Shunpo. A short channel before casting it's very very brief. If you cast Shunpo you'll see a channel bar.

Furthermore Shunpo can't be cast anywhere. It requires a dagger or enemy unit. Before it could be cast on allies and wards. And that's not an argument that's a fact.

The cast time on shunpo is to small to really help you playing against her, you actually won't notice it at all playing against kata. However, playing as kata it does feel a bit clunky and sometimes causes issues with fast input chains, which are required for her since the rework as she now is all about multiple E resets.

Useing clunkiness as a balance lever is rather poor design, especially if it hardly impacts playing against the champ in question.

I'm confused why there was a new post created on this topic. It's in response to an existing thread and wants to continue that discussion, so shouldn't it be where the discussion is already happening to increase the visibility to the people involved?
