Stop making posts trying to ridicule Nightblue and praising Nubrac unless...

Unless you actually watched the conversation between Nightblue and Nubrac. You guys who support Nubrac are actually defending a clown, his arguments are so flawed yet people actually fall for them. League community is full of geniuses, that's for sure.

Anyone defending or supporting either of them is honestly a clown - both are in the wrong in their own ways.

The report NB3 made to a Rioter was not wrong. NB3 appears to be part of a Riot program for “influencers” - streamers, you tubers, etc. This program seems to have given them access to a public discord - this was not a PM to a personal friend, but was a message sent in a discord server with presumably other influencers and likely other Rioters. This was not some hidden “secret” action - it was never attempted to be hidden from other Rioters/influencers, which leads me to believe that this was an intended use of the discord server, and that the Riot employee responded appropriately. When people are in public, even if it’s only a couple other Rioters/influencers, one would think that there would be much more scrutiny before someone posts something.

There are multiple reasons that having an official method of communication/discussion with influencers would be appropriate - as an example, having access to content for videos, being able to request a still/video image if one needs it, etc. Riot seems to have determined that it is also acceptable for the Rioters in charge of this program to take reports via this manner. This is not necessarily a bad thing. Virtually all companies have a “priority support” for their most important customers/partners. This does not mean the support request would be actioned any differently. If this player (Nubrac) was going to be punished, they would’ve been punished regardless of if it was reported to the Rioter in the discord server or through a support ticket.

NB3’s actions were inappropriate in other ways. This is pretty obvious, but NB3 harassed/flamed other players, has continued doing so publicly, and has at multiple times participated in AFK behavior in games when he’s not happy with the game.

Riot requires a report from an affected player to investigate behavior. This is quite simple - if nobody has a problem with something, is it really a problem? As an example, in some regions (especially in higher ELO), “open mid” is such a common strategy that both teams will agree to it. Let’s say one of those players is streaming. Should the player be punished just because Joe Schmoe decided to send in a report that OMG HE AFKED? Of course not.

So, if NB3 wasn’t reported by any player in the game, then there is no investigation to be had. The LeaverBuster system will still flag that game as a left game and after enough leaves will issue automatic Leaver Queue penalties, but there will not be any additional punishment if nobody reported him. Riot does not witch hunt behaviors, nor will Riot act on reports where you have no stake in the matter - similar to the US legal doctrine of needing “standing” to file a claim in court - you must show that you have a reason to be affected by it, and “i was watching the stream/video” is not a valid reason.

Nubrac was in the wrong. Nubrac has been doing things like this for a while, and as Riot has confirmed, it appears that Nubrac is attempting to “tilt” or “hijack” or “snipe” streams in order to... well who the fuck knows? Maybe he gets a laugh out of it. Maybe he is trying to tilt the streamer to get them banned. Who knows? But regardless, targeting players simply because they are streamers, and taking actions you would not normally take simply because they are streaming is not acceptable behavior, period. Playing off-meta is not griefing. Playing off-meta while your team has reservations and isn’t fully in agreement still isn’t really griefing. Playing off-meta while your team doesn’t agree, and only doing so because one of the players is streaming the game, that’s griefing and harassment.

So no, nobody is right here, except maybe Riot. I guarantee you Riot’s internal departments will be evaluating whether this was an intended use of the “influencer discord” - if the Rioter was even supposed to be taking reports in it. If they were, then that Rioter did nothing wrong in taking the report in the discord. If the reports were outside of policy (i.e. that was not an intended use of the discord), that will be clarified and possibly result in discipline for the influencer/Rioter. But even still, it is not wrong for Riot to have a “priority support” for their VIPs. You want priority support? Become a VIP.

Just as if you want to fly in first class - pay the money. If you want a faster phone answer when you call a company for support, give them a million dollar contract - they’ll give you a priority line, I guarantee it.

What about people who support neither?
