@Sion MAINS: JG or Top?

So recently I re-re-picked up Sion, playing him 90% of the time jungle. From previous experiences, I always felt like his top lane wasn't very strong due to his weak early shield, and weak lane presence compared to champions like Irelia and Jax.

As mentioned before, I recently played several games of him jungle. He can clear very well (properly using his W), and doesn't even need a leash. The synergy between Sion's W and SoA is fantastic, thus he can get relatively tanky quite fast.

That being said, I raised the question of which role is better overall. I feel like jungle Sion can make great use of his passive, Cinderhulk, and SoA. I also think that his gold requirement isn't too steep, so it won't hold him back significantly than going top.

What do you Sion MAINS think? Have you had more success top or JG? Which roles do you prefer on Sion between the two?

Jungle, absolutely. It's 90 bonus health per clear. Cinderhulk is amazing on him. Ganks need some setup, just because you have to get in Q cone without ult, but successful chain CC is almost a guaranteed kill.

Support with Jhin

You slow, he snares, you Q, he starts ulting, you ult

He's far better top imo. Jungle has very bad ganks without ult and he is a huge lane bully in top, and falls off after early game a little so you probably want to maximize the base stats he has. However on the flip side he gets a little more bonus health from his W in the jungle, but it's really not worth it.

But yeah, that's just from my experience, everyone's play style is different.

I'm a Sion main and he can go Mid, Top, Jungle, or Support. I honestly can't pick a favorite, but I usually go Mid. Out of Jungle or Top I would pick Jungle because he isn't as good laning against a tank because his amazing poke won't be as effective.

Also, if you really want to have fun, build a Guardian Angel. Frozen Mallet is also a great item.

jungle because your W passive is better and you dont have to worry about laning against cheese champions like GP or ekko or some random champ that has mobility and negates most of his kit

honestly Sion is one of the most oppressive early game toplaners, he wrecks most matchups so hard it feels like cheating XD

Sion is a weird champ. He can go mid, top, jungle or support. I actually play him in all 4 positions, but prefer him mid, jungle and support. Not really a fan of top lane Sion tbh. If you take Sion mid you start Doran ring, use magic pen reds and just max w or e first depending on if they are popping your shield or not. You Rush ZZrot and possibly banner of command if they are AP heavy (double or triple AP). There is an ex-challenger sion main that only plays him mid, stole the build from him. Basically you just shove them into tower, abuse them as much as you can with e spam and then gank side lanes.

I do like him support and jungle too though. When jungling I generally max Q first and do AD reds and quints. When supporting I generally do magic pen reds and kinda do what I do mid but bot lane, but AD reds are nice too for the cheesy level 1 bush Q.
