How do you deal with lategame Yi?

When the game goes past 25 mins and Yi is quickly becoming the cancer he is later in the game. How do you deal with it? general champion, not like "pick someone into him".

Im still new to the game and i dont understand what to do to have a chance.

PS: just got out of a game as Eve, went like 10/1 in the first 15ish mins, had several kills on Yi in his jungle, snowballing team except for our adc and Master Yi came out of nowhere and was melting everyone in the blink of the eye at like 25-30 mins in.

stuns, roots, suppresses, knockups, and just ending the game before he gets too scary.

most yi will use their Q to close the gap with the adc, once they do that, just cc him and focus him down.

please don't try to 1v1 a hard carry.

Just say it don't be afraid : "Just CC him" Yes we all know that's how you deal with problems In this game Cc is the cure It's just that yi renders half the cc useless against him and the other half are easily dodged. Most annoying of all is the fact that exhaust is much weaker when used agaidnt him colpared to someone like tryndamere who gets shut down almost entirely by exhaust.

cc doesn't cure tanks, odds are they're still alive by the end of the duration and glad that they soaked cc that you can't use on REAL damage threats cc doesn't cure artillery or burst mages as they've already blown their wad by the time you react to their presence, that's more of a game of rocket tag than a counter Master Yi is a champion that is especially weak to hard cc because he needs time to deal his damage and usually doesn't build tanky enough to survive the length of a stun if focused

Thanks guys, its so annoying when you're doing well and then Yi goes from being a worthless spec of dust into suddenly being the biggest monster on the rift just because you couldnt end the game fast enough xD.

25 minutes is not lategame, games are just somewhat short right now for some.

What that means is that certain champs that get a midgame spike are able to end the game before it falls off.

If you disengage and starve him it wont matter how fed he is when everyone is the same level with the same number of items, in fact he will likely be a liability at this point.

actually a late game Yi will beat Nasus in a 1x1 situation because his ult makes him completely immune to Wither, and his DPS is just too much for Nasus. Unless Yi is going glass cannon.

Not true, Nasus with enough armor, and around 4000 + health and 2 stacks with ignite or any type of grievous wounds will destroy yi.

item 3072 item 1419 item 3071 item 3047 item 3046 item 3031 would still destroy Nasus since Yi can just meditate through the ignite. Nasus would be forced to take an extremely suboptimal item like item 3165 or item 3033 to get sustained grevious wounds, while Yi takes nearly zero damage from Nasus thanks to PD+red smite+tabis and lifesteal, and essentially ignores Nasus armor with his true damage and cleaver.

Its a fight that depends on nasus stacks tbh. I usually as nasus ghost the yi ult then kill him to guarentee the kill. Yi without ult is nothing.

in 1v1 not many can 1v1 him except most likely just jax. in team fights just blow him up. thats it. hes easy in team fights. if you have cc that is. if not he will run you down

If you are playing eve, you can actually 1 shot him from invisibility with item 1414 item 3089 item 3100 item 3152 item 3020 item 3135 .

From invisibility, ult him, immediately go in with hextech, hate spike, E+lich bane proc, hate spike, he's done.

Another option is to stall the game out EVEN LONGER. Yi is actually strongest mid-game, since he hits a huge 3-4 item power spike, but the extra 5th and 6th items are just utility stuff for him. When everyone is full build and grouped, Yi is actually not that scary.

Ive taken on a full build katarina as yi while she ulted on me with my crit build and beat her.

But if you don't react fast enough (within 0.1 seconds) it doesn't matter how fed you are with a damage build, you'll still get deleted from invisibility. Kat doesn't delete people instantly from full HP the way Rengar or Eve can.

Just like how that Talon got deleted by Rengar.

Well, Yi should always take Katarina in 1v1 even with some suboptimal builds. Katarina's not a duellist

I'm aware of how he operates. Thanks for the downvote. Your opinion is duly noted. That being said, I have found in my experiences that the only reason he carries late game into wins are enablers, players who think they can 1v1 him, find him and die. His cooldowns then reduce and proceeds to wreck the rest of the team for lack of that 5th he just caught out. It takes a team to focus him, and sometimes late game he can easily 3v1, but in a situation where players know what items to buy against him, when to engage him, when not to, and know how to chain cc him, he is a very easy kill and a risk to his team. Likely in this scenario, he's the bulk of his team's damage, so his team can't really win a fight if he's picked off before he catches someone out.

Even when he has reached his insane late-game potential, Yi is still pretty squishy, so he cannot melt your whole team without either (i) the surprise factor or (ii) his team providing a good engage. Best way to deal with Yi is to not let his team engage for free, and to not commit into a fight if he is MIA. If you commit without seeing him, he'll just arrive 5 s later and clean-up your whole team.

Warding is so important, if he can't do that teleport into your team + 100 attacks thing he does he is easier to deal with. That is usually what happens in a team battle you are fighting 5v4 then everyone is dead Yi Pentakill! Otherwise you just need to take him as a team, if you can make him waste his main attack on your tank then have your adc Mid and JG swoop in to cc and kill you can shut him down. The way he does it is really annoying but no worse than other snowballing champs. I'd rather deal with him than an overly Fed Yas, Zed or Fizz

Too bad thornmail isn't the answer any more. Killed so many squishy high AD jungles by playing tank jungle with flame cloak and thornmail. Friggen yellow buff on jungle item ruined that though.

ive seen some solid points on here but no one is addressing the fact that meditate is absolutely broken. im here because a yi took on three of my team with heavy cc, almost died but then meditated full health and wiped us. okay thats understandable in some wack reality. but what really got me was when he charged into our turret, took three blasts while our entire team attacked him and he became immune, healed and walked away like nothing happened. theres absolutely nothing in this thread that has explained what to do in this situation. sure cc and group when its actually possible to kill him, but i had a team of completely level headed teammates all focus in on something that was absolutely above the game itself. i dont see how something like that has a place in this game when characters that get mildly overpowered are constantly reworked.

You can’t deal with him. End of discussion. If you can’t end the game before 30ish minutes, the master Yi on the other team will probably kill your whole team pretty easily.
