What is silence?

What is silence? In league of legends, a silence is a form of crowd control where the player cannot activate their champions abilities, use items, or activate summoner spells but can still move. But is it the champion that is being silenced or the summoner? I wanted to quickly touch on what I believe silence actually would be in terms of the game. One way to look at it is that the champion is now silenced, unable to activate abilities. However, would a champion being silenced or "muted" really stop them from reaching into a pouch or belt and using an item such as a health potion. Now let's look at summoner spells, summoners spells are simply that. Summoner Spells. Or spells that are used by you, the summoner. If you are not the one silenced than there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to cast your own spells that you have control over. And if the summoner is the one silenced, than what a silence really is is an ability cast by enemy champions that literally can affect you, the summoner, the person sitting behind your computer. If you agree that this makes some sense, let me know or upvote my ideas. I want to see what people think.

What's a Summoner?

Or simply remove flash as a mechanic. Flash is broken and always will be, and riot has said as much many times. As a mechanic, whether a spell or an item, it is fundamentally broken in that if you DON'T take it, everyone else has an advantage.

^Not healthy gameplay. Better to remove it altogether than have it either as a spell or an item.

To give you a game-world perspective idea, here's a thought.

Silence doesn't affect the target's voice, it affects what they hear.

Ignoring the whole "Riot retconned the lore" deal, the summoner and the champion are linked, and the summoner gives them commands on the battlefield, correct?

For two or three seconds, the champion is affected by Silence; rather than this being the DnD-style silence, where you can't cast spells because you can't speak the verbal part, this silence affects the champion's mind, blocking out any communication. Including the Summoner telling them to cast a spell or use an item.

Just a simple headcanon.

Agreed, silences should not affect summoner spells. (Especially since those who can silence can also spam it.)

No matter what people may argue, it is a skill-less feature that falsely puts emphasis on the champion kit rather than the person controlling the champion. It is simply the most facile form of CC to use in game, as the majority of silences are point and click or AOE skill shots. While I understand that sometimes such a cheap move is necessary to counter certain equally-powerful abilities, it shouldn't block out all summoner spells.

After-all, do we not all concur that Flash and Heal are Balanced?

I actually just made a topic about this lol. Glad I ain't the only one thinking about it. Silence should only affect abilities. And preferably not an ability that is a nuke lol, that's a bit cheap, even for silences.**
