Where Can You See League of Legends In Two Years?

Starting sometime in early 2015, I'll be leaving on a mission trip for my church for two years. During that time, I won't be playing League and will actually purposefully avoid all league-related news while I'm away if I can help it. I will, of course, check back on League of Legends and Riot Games when I return. So I want to hear what your predictions are for League or Riot as a whole two whole years from now. I'd like serious predictions and not just people wishing for urf or something to be fixed. Come on. Let's see some creativity. When I come back two years from now, what will I come back to? Will League of Legends still be a thing two years from now? What do you think? It can be any sort of prediction, big or little, server-based or champion-based or game-based or whatever you want it to be.

I would prefer some upvotes so more people could see this. It is meant to be a fun, idea-sharing thread. Heck, even you Riot Employees are welcome to join. Share your predictions, you have two years of imagination to work with.

My First Prediction: First prediction is pretty simple. In two years time, I had better come back to see this either in the vault or available in the store. http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/293/d/0/taric_skulls_gems__halloween_2012__by_nfouque-d5icvg4.jpg

In 2 years the game won't exist anymore, or simply won't be popular. We have MOBAs like Dota 2 or Strife where all heroes are free and they actually have anti toxicity systems other than just "you have to wait few min before sending more than 5 messages". Then we have MOBAs like SMITE who feel completely different but the objective of the game is the same. And none of these games make false promises and put obvious lies straight in our face.

I think there's a 50-50 chance that Summoners Rift will get another update. The other maps will get updated, with the exception of Dominion, which will be replaced with a new map all together.

Give or take 30 champions in the game right now will be re-worked, either major re-works like Sion, Soraka, and Sona, or minor re-works like Viktor. 20 or so will have updated models.

The Lore will be filled out in some areas, but still completely barren in others. Skarner will likely not have his new lore before you get back. The website changes to host the new lore will barely come online before you leave.

The client will be different. It will probably be re-written before the end of 2015. The game engine will be in the process of being re-written, which will fix some long-term bugs and introduce new ones.

There will be 12 champions you have never seen before. Their kits will seem way OP by the standards you're use to.

You'll have missed a month or so where Ziggs Support was a thing. Riot nerfed his potential to be a midlaner in response, so no one plays Ziggs at all when you get back.

You'll have missed URF 2.0, the featured game mode that was actually better than URF.

League of Legends will be dropping in popularity due to the rise of another MOBA that integrates Virtual Reality, but will still be alive and well.

The UI of the game will be completely different, with nothing where you expect it to be.

Your username will be taken by someone else (I think two years is the point where Riot considers an account in-active and allows other users to pick up the name). You'll have to wait three years to get it back, one year while you're both playing, then two years while he's on his mission.

if they keep following the pattern we will probably be at season 3 again in 2 years

the jungle creeps will have gotten so strong that they actually come out of the jungle sometimes and kill your laners. baron and rek'sai have a baby and move away from the rift. Warwick actually becomes so strong from all the jungle changes that he replaces baron. after awhile warwick gets together with his jungle monster buddies and together they overthrow riot. the game is then renamed "league of warwick".

My friend just got off a mission, and he's like "Who's Zed? Elise?"

And i'm like, "dude, they're not even new."

Well, given thaT I'm not really planning to PLAY the game, just watch it... I hope that in two years time we can see the e-sports scene grow to the point where it has an appreciable presence in everyday speech. I hope to start overhearing people talking about the world finals, etc. at work just like I'm forced to endure constant conversations about hockey, football, and whatever other sports are discussed that I know nothing about lol

Time and Time again I have played 40 minute long games where one player goes off the deep end and intentionally feeds for god only knows what reason and then 4 players get stuck in a miserable game that is no where near fun or coming back to play. Why are we not aloud to kick a player? there are so many 4v5's I've won where we simply toughed it out I would rather play a 4v5 with a feeding or toxic player

By two years, most people are unable to play, because game bugs keep disconnecting them, and Leaverbuster keeps banning them because of all the disconnects.

That moment where Moba's become a part of the "BRO" gaming (ANY 2k game, C.O.D., Fifa)

because with the pandering to casuals with the lore, idc what they say about why they did it, they are killing good lore they had. and now we see call of duties childish attitudes as trolls.

Boulderox12/3/2014, 2:28:48 PM1 votes

yes that is true, but there are those whos entire existance is about the League, jax is a main contender, and easily they could have taken out the LOL bit and kept some lore the same like xeraths, just take out the eating nexus's for power bit and boom, same lore, no lol.

-We'll still have the same map -League still won't be on ESPN -2 different colors of samsung teams will win the next championships. -There will be a new, even higher price tier for skins. Flying Spaghetti Monster Vel'koz will be the first. -Phreak will probably die. -Any champion without a gapcloser/escape of some kind will be considered unviable. -Irelia will get buffed.

BiZeBoY12/27/2014, 9:14:25 PM1 votes

yea when the behavior deems Hell yes - think about the community when 4 players agree that someone is not going to help them win and face a 4v5 to win the game - thats a huge commitment and people will stop trolling in a heart beat now lets balance this some - this option is only available in solo q ranked

The way things are going, this game is dead the very second DOTA changes it's graphical style and champion naming, Blizzard might actually pull a chunk of the playerbase by making a softer game with actual zero "toxicity".

Most companies change by the time it's too late (SOE was one of them with PS2).

There will be no league. The servers will continue to decrease to the point that no one will be able to play.
