Riot, Removing Ornn’s ability to block cc is gonna make him even more braindead easy

Abibyama··51 votes·3,033 views

Increasing his Ult CD is great, but changing his W to not block any cc is really not good as it’s has a bit of skill expression to block incoming CC.

Can you like, nerf the brittle proc damage? Or the flame damage and increase the CD by a bit maybe I don’t know and shift the power to his Q-E combo maybe I don’t know

briitle duration is 8 6 seconds

let that sink in

Wait i thought it was 6 seconds wtf

ModJango Mage5 votes

beacuse its 6 seconds. rubick failed his ornn exams

AirKingNeo2 votes

reduce to 4 please and tank you

And his W is on a 13/12/11/10/9 second cooldown. _His first full item will probably be either item 3800 or item 3025, giving 10% cdr and 20% respectively _

Durzaka4 votes

Its 6 seconds not 8. Stop spreading useless lies.

Ahristocats2 votes

still has a huge ass duration what the hell

8 seconds is the duration i felt like it was from playing against ornn, even if it's 6 seconds it needs to be reduced to 3 seconds

Durzaka2 votes

At 3 seconds he would literally never be able to proc it unless the enemy is already fighting him. it would be a useless effect.

Z3Sleeper1 votes

Yeah that needs to go down alot. No reason for this, just screws over alot of melee champs who want to engage while W is down but can't reengage with Brittle on them but when Brittle is gone W is back up rip.

WukongMain22 votes

i think the immunity CC is fine. However, if memory serves when i played him his W when to as little as a 4 second cooldown. CC immunity on a 4 second cooldown is just poor balancing.

LordGeovanni2 votes

This was never a factor before his damage changed to max health damage because its not op. he just does too much max hp damage other wise his kit is still bad because he has no way to keep up his lead when he had current health damage because each of his skills scaled diffrently

Sorry what? CC Immunity is not skill expression it is quite the opposite. Now the player has to be more careful when using his w because he can be punished for it.

Removing his CC immunity will make him harder

Well now he doesn't even have to think about timing it to shrug off a crowd control, he just goes whatever and presses W in fights. Well I guess nothing really changes.

Kubox2 votes

Not really, no.

Removing the CC immunity makes it similar to a Sion Q in that it is a powerful move but forces it's user to open himself up for attacks. If Ornn wants to make himself an easy target to do damage, he should be punishable by it.

junglerboy168 votes

The issue is there's no skill expression when that CC immunity is on a 4 second CD. You spam that whenever you can and it's equally effective because it's up so often.

If he had a limited window CC immunity ability on a long CD of roughly 20 seconds (like most spell shield abilities), then I'd say it allows for skill expression. Not so much right now.

nice table2 votes

eh being able to block CC adds skill and outplay potential into the champions kit while being able to be interrupted by CC adds counterplay.

Azadethe3 votes

He doesn't even have CC immunity. He has Unstoppable, which delays the effects of cc until the end of the skill. if you stun him shortly before W ends, he will still be stunned after it ends. He just won't stop W until it's over.

It's effectively a "sort of" immunity, because he can W through a cc that is short and come out battling on the other side, but if it's a long duration cc like a karma Root.... He'll still be rooted.

Also, since when have champs ever been designed to cater to opponents? Yi has unstoppable. Part of why he's so annoying, is that if you activate a CC on him during his Alpha strike, he will ignore it. So, you time your cc for after the alpha. Yi punishes people who don't know that, which is why he easily snowballs vs teams that don't know him. I can't tell you how many times I've had a Yi auto attacking my Nami because he knows it's a game of chicken. If He Alpha's me, he knows I'm going to bubble him with 100% success on the other side. If I bubble ahead, he knows he can abuse the .78 seconds to lane to Alpha strike so that the Bubble will land without affecting him.....

That's how Ornn is. You focus on not standing in his W the entire duration (he can't change the direction of it), and not getting Brittle applied (it only applies on the last tick, so you have 2 seconds to strafe sideways and avoid it).... and then you CC. That's Ornn's kit in its entirety. If they take away his Unstoppable, Ornn will immediately drop to a 40% win champ.

nyakasgoods12 votes

Getting rid of the Unstoppable (btw) won't even do anything because they said that the actual firebreathing will keep going if he gets cc'd, he just won't keep walking forward.

Which is weird.

underscores2223 votes

That behaves just like any other damage over time Aoe (rumble, corkie)

The nice thing is that this allows certain moves to be more of a counter (urgot flip, nasus wither, ryze snare, quinn vault, etc) which is nice. I'm not sure it's exactly the right move, but it should open up a few more in-the-moment options to help deal with him.

What exactly is weird about it?

The ccs you'd typically use to stop damage (ie stuns) will have the same effect as simply snaring him, since he won't actually stop dealing damage.

Now granted, knocking him back will still do him a ding (more reasons to enjoy playing against Jayce btw) but most champs still won't be much better off dealing with his damage.

Stunning Rumble doesn't stop his flamespitter.

Garen? Rumble? That's just normal thing for some of the skills, why would it be strange for this one particular case? :D

nyakasgoods2 votes

It's not weird in terms of the way the ability works, it's a weird thing to nerf; most of the champs (esp melee bruisers) that struggle against Ornn will still struggle, since their cc is melee range and applying wouldn't get them out of any of the damage a lot of the time, so Ornn doesn't really get much weaker from his nerf. I'm just wondering why they didn't choose to touch something like W damage or brittle duration instead.

Sire Hippington6 votes

I also think it's the wrong spot to nerf, same with the ult CD nerf that mostly hits later ranks. Imo the main issue with Orn right now is how effectively he trades in the laneingphase with no really down times or weaknesses that his opponent can use(atleast for most toplane champs)

His teamfighting feels just about right for me, it's just playing melees against him in lane leaves you with hardly any options against him while his lategame teamfights are naturally good, and then his passive items kick in for the endgame. Given that his late naturally will be good with that kit and the passie items, i think the early is just a bit overtuned. However, overall i don't see what all the fuzz is about, he's strong, probably to strong atm, but far from broken and i'd rather face ornn than many other toplaners like Jayce, Quinn or even Shen.

changing his W to not block any cc is really not good as it’s has a bit of skill expression to block incoming CC.

It's really not. Ornn's W already grants him a shield, there's almost no point in him needing the Unstoppable debuff. Plus, his kit already consists of a very heavy chained-CC combo, so some way of interrupting him in the middle of it, such as during his W, can really help a lot.

Azadethe2 votes

The entire point of the shield is to allow him to channel the dang skill. it's not like the shield is just utility like Karma. He has to be able to stay in a fight. Without being able to mitigate cc, he's going to become a 40% win champ. His entire core is about actually being in the fight.

I don't see them nerfing Garen for having a kit to be in the fight, even though he heals 3.2% of his max hp per sec at low HP and has up to 97.6% tenacity to get away.... even on a Lethality build.

I don't see them nerfing Mundo's ability to stay in a fight.

I don't see them nerfing Maoki's insane heals to stay in a fight.

That's the purpose Ornn's W's barrier serves: He can't do anything for 2 seconds, and he's literally the ONLY champ who is subjected to that rule by his own skills. He is basically CCing himself by using W. if you can't avoid his last tick Brittle, you probably shouldn't be playing ranked.

Urgot W doesn't need the Unstoppable debuff to be able to stay in fights. Adding the fact that Ornn's W duration is like less than a second.

I don't see them nerfing Garen for having a kit to be in the fight, even though he heals 3.2% of his max hp per sec at low HP and has up to 97.6% tenacity to get away.... even on a Lethality build.

His healing requires him outside of combat. This also applies to Ornn with Warmogs anyway. Also Garen's kit has 0 scalings with %HP builds like Ornn's does, so it's sensible for Garen to typically go for Lethality builds instead of the normal beefy HP builds.

I don't see them nerfing Mundo's ability to stay in a fight.

Grievous Wounds from items already kills him enough. And he has close to no CC aside his Q to be able to peel a lot for his carries.

I don't see them nerfing Maoki's insane heals to stay in a fight.

His damage reduction ult removal kinda hurts him back during the update. But nonetheless, Grievous Wounds can also hurt him plus his Q has been repeatedly nerfed.

Chaining his QE CC combo and then using his W can seriously destroy his opponents and then uses his shield to mitigate any incoming counter-damage. He has more than enough chained CC to be able to whittle down his opponents with his W. I'm guessing a change in playstyle where using his W first directly at the enemy Riven's face is no more a good idea.

  1. Urgot's W doesn't lock him in place, gives him ghost, 40% slow resist, and can still strafe and avoid attacks.

  2. Post 9 it doesn't, and it activates anyways if he is below 25%. Ornn's only part of his at all that scales to HP is his barrier. The rest is AD/AP and garbage ratios at that.

  3. Grievous wounds from AP sources will never activate on Mundo, and using Mundo vs an AD team is generally never done. If he does, he has enough armor to make it work and never actually engages. He just throws Q's.

  4. Maoki with current runes is hyper healing. I don't care if he's been nerfed. The new runes basically allow him to self full heal off melee encounters. I've seen 987 heals, in addition to Second wind, and whatever other heals like Grasp or Ravenous Hunter (He can use all 3).

  5. If you fall prey to a combo that's your own fault. His chain is entirely avoidable, choreographed and there is literally no stand alone part of his kit which forces you to take it all. it takes 1.5 sec for the Q to spawn, and you have to still be near it. if you're near it, you have a LOT to learn. It also scales low actual damage. E also has low damage. W only does 20% as well. If it's destroying you, you're at VERY low HP.

Ornn +item 1031 doing 300+ damage per ability plus getting a shield and slow and knock up with hardly any mana spent hahaha nerf this fucking champ

WukongMain2 votes

wait i realize it's been an hour since my last comment but i just randomly thought... "WAIT! they're removing the cc immunity!? wtf?!"

Are they!? O_O . Because that's one of the reasons why i enjoy playing him (just recently picked him up)

Kosm1K2 votes

Can they just lower the uptime on brittle? As soon as it fades he's already got his W again ffs. I played him and thought "god this is toxic"

Let us be able to dodge his ultimate. Unless Ornn fails, an immobile champion just cannot dodge it at the moment.

Yeah wtf Rito. His damage is the problem, not his CC immunity

SeaChange1 votes

Yeah I think his W could turn into a utility spell instead of his main damage spell. Either that or move the CC dodge to one of his other abilities.

Azadethe1 votes

What nerf are you talking about? And ornn losing Unstoppable during W will bury him.

He is literally garbage without it. Super immobile champ losing its only way to mitigate cc and chase during a skill which forces you to face 1 direction spells instantaneous erasure.

The only place where Ornn has ever been really doing well is top lane, and that's because it's a 1v1. I could name several 1v1's where the champ is just oppressive as a laner.... And even then.... in a 1v1 Ornn is still beatable unless you intentionally choose a melee champ into him.

He doesn't need any nerfs. He's already been nerfed. several times.

He should be at the least of your worries.

Fix Akali Corki Fiora Garen Jax Katarina Khazix Leblanc Malzahar Nocturne Nasus Riven Quinn Zed MonkeyKing Yasuo
