Near matching CS, enemy laner 2 levels ahead

So last night I had this game and I'm awfully confused. I was really tired so I'll probably watch the replay when I get off work tonight but I'm here all day so I figured I'd see if anyone has any theories.

I was playing garen against a chogath. At about 30 CS my jungler was invading their jungler I fell down to help him. Chogath followed too. My mid laner picked up a kill while chogath was able to kill both of them. When I left lane to help I was lvl 4. After getting the two kills chogath cleaned up a wave of minions in mid lane (I think it was just one wave) when the mf came back to lane he was lvl 6. I realized after a couple seconds I checked out CS, I had 2 more cs than him I was still lvl 4, barely going lvl5 probably like 80% to lvl 5.

I'll watch the replay and see where I went wrong but honestly thinking about that game right now has me all frustrated I can't watch the replay till I get home in 9 hours. Any ideas to calm my brain. I'll post update after i watch replay tonight.

He was a little more than a level ahead. Probably a combination of the kills and his CS including more melee and cannon minions than yours.

I mean, I had a game on Wednesday where I had two fewer deaths and was literally 11 kills, 4 turrets, ~15 CS, 2 dragons, a Baron, and an inhibitor ahead of my enemy laner, and she somehow beat me to level 17.

The only way I could even try to explain that would be all the super minions from getting taking the inhib. It was still a pretty WTF moment. I should screencap it.

if i need to explain to you the flaw in your argument.. then you lack some pretty basic understanding of the game normally the ADC and support are both lvl 5 at the same time... they have different CS

aka you only need to be in exp range to get EXP. to get CS you need to actaully land the last hit

i can stand next to the minions dying for 30 min and get no CS and still get exp

he was in EXP range.. just missing CS

you were getting all the CS when u were in lane... but you weren't in lane.

therefore u have the same CS and different levels

He gets some pretty hefty exp from killing people and exp doesnt directly tie in with CS. You dont kill to kill a minion to get that exp, and the exp you get from minions differ. Cannons > melee > ranged so even if you soaked the exp from some ranged minions then left lane while he soaked exp from the melee minions and left lane he'd still be up
