I took a pretty long break right as the scuttle patch hit and well now I'm at a loss.
I play my normal champs, kindred, xin, kayne and I get out jungled out pressured and im constantly falling behind in lvl.
I play the "op" champs of the patch I still get crapped on. I dont get it. Do. Not. Get. This. Meta.
since they nerfed the overall xp in the jg and moved a good chunk of xp and gold onto scuttle, if you can't successfully fight for them, or you get invaded, you will be behind the enemy jg. No matter what, however, you will be behind solo laners, and barely ahead of bot in terms of xp. Because of this duelist junglers are preferred. The game plan has shifted more to counter jungling to completely shaft the enemy jungler.

Here's what i do, i play Maokai jungle and have a lot of success cause you just gotta do good from lvl 1-7. So i alway start top cause my clears are crap and the enemy jg will beat me to scuttle bot with leash. So i go top 3 saplings, don't need leash smite top buff, then go straight to top scuttle crab place sapling on bush and q scuttle, kill it. Then i go to raptors, sapling in bush + 2 qs and some autos, run straight to blue and im lvl 3. Now if you are lucky the enemy jg will be like "oh it's maokai, i can easily do my buffs and invade his red" and he will not do bot scuttle crab so you take. Then you gank either mid or bot, if no ganks possible back. The rest of the game is you decision, you should not become less under lvled than ur botlane. This clear works with many jglr if you wanna avoid conflict early game.
Get them scuttle crabs.
