Amumu's best start, is raptors?

So after several games (custom and live) of trying out different amumu clears I have come to the solid conclusion that amumu's best jungle path start is Raptors taking his first skill as E.

Raptors spawn 5 seconds earlier than buffs, the raptors attacking amumu lower his E's cd, they give him level 2 like any other camp would. Been clearing raptors in just 3 E casts (smiteless), then going wolves > blue > scuttle > top/bot gank. and almost matching the old lv3 krug cheese in speed.

I am actually amazed at how well this works. Since you didn't actually start Blue, the chance of being cheesed at the buff is lower as well. Is this crazy or am I just late to the party on knowing this? (note does not work on shyvana, they do too much damage and W wont kill them in 1 go)

As an Amumu main myself I 100% agree and was wondering if anyone else realized this. Starting red isn't all that useful since Amumu doesn't gank pre 3 and it's usually better to keep red until he ganks and same applies for blue since he goes oom so easily during ganks. It also gives you an advantage over the enemy jungler since you'll be hitting 3 before them .

Honestly, I would probably recommend starting at a buff camp.

Raptors will always be easy for Amumu to clear due to his kit, so you don't really need help doing it. Instead, you would probably be better off having your teammates leash for you on a buff camp; those generally take much longer and it should shave off far more time on your clear.

If you are starting on Blue or Red buff, I would recommend taking W at level 1 for sustained damage to the camp.

Obviously you can gank if you see a good opportunity, but farming the jungle early-game can be very rewarding (and reliable).

As a side note, I would recommend building Cinderhulk rather than Runic Echoes. Hunter's Potion is generally sufficient for mana sustain when clearing and Cinderhulk provides far more durability.

I wonder if they same thing can work with Rammus...

He clears Raptors pretty fast too with his W.

Raptors spawns at 1:35? I had no idea. Good catch.
