Starters Discussion & Week 5 Analysis (Who Do You Start Week 6?)

UPDATE: Week 7's forum, along with week 6 analysis, is now posted! Check under the New/Hot tabs to find Week's 7 forum, and be sure to post all questions you may have regarding week 7 there!

Hi there!

Ok, so the purpose of this forum is exactly what the title describes, to help people set up their best line up possible heading into the next week of games. We've all experienced a moment where we are choosing between two players, not sure which one will have the better turn-out with regards to their current match-ups, their record, if their on a losing streak, new subs of the team, etc. This can now become a place where the fantasy community can help each other out with their rosters so that they are receiving their full potential each and every week. This can also be a place to discuss possible Add/Drop possibilites. Anyway, everyone can understand the purpose behind this forum now.

Just simply post a question about who you are deciding between, along with your reasonings behind why you should and shouldn't start them. Then hopefully a fellow fantasy community member will be able to respond and help you make your decision. Anyone can help out! Multiple opinions and beliefs are better than just one! Remember, Strength in numbers.

Disclaimer: Human beings cannot foresee the future, everything posted on here are just calculated predictions.

Hopefully this now provides a means for all of us as a community to help each other in achieving the glorious 1st place spot in your respected leagues, along with the entitled sensation of "Bragging Rights." Best of luck to all of you! #LCS #Fantasy #DecisionsAreHard

Week 5 Analysis

Remember when I said week 4 was upset week? Well, I lied. Week 5 was upset week. This is the week where GMB, CW, and H2K go 2-0; Where as SK, UOL, and EL record a deflating 0-2 week. And as for the NA side of things, (apart from C9 and Coast), EVERY OTHER TEAM WENT 1-1. The consistency is non existent, which for us as fantasy owners, drives us up the wall. And so begs the question: In whom do we trust?

I have two general notes: 1: Amongst the inconsistency, there are a couple of areas where there is a silver lining. (And these should not come as a shock to most of you). But FNC and TSM have now truly proven themselves to be the most consistent, fantasy scoring powerhouses this split. Whenever you have the option to choose between Player X or a FNC/TSM player, You go with the FNC/TSM player. (Granted there are exceptions, but more often than not, this logic will ring true). And on the opposite ends of the spectrum, MYM and Coast have now officially bestowed themselves the title of "LCS Punching bags." If you see one of your players go up agains either of these teams, its another safe reason to pick said player.

2: Now this is more of a general fantasy strategy note. As I have said before, there are three main things you need to look at when making a decision in fantasy: Play-style, A players individual kill participation, and their match-ups. However, people really get hung up on the idea of the matchup side of things, and are afraid to start a star player simply because they have a hard matchup that week (e.g FNC vs SK). In fantasy, match-ups should not be the main reason to bench a player (Especially this split, since everybody beats everybody), But rather they should be looked at more as a tie-breaker when deciding between two players. If CLG is up against TSM, you should still start the CLG player due to the fact they get a lot of points, regardless of the matchup. However, If the players in question have performed equally well throughout the split, Then thats when the match-ups really matter and should be used as a tie-breaker.

Ok, now for my sleeper picks this week:

NA: GV and C9.
GV, while they had a slow start to the split, are beginning to pick up some steam in NA. And their matchup heading into week 6, (TL and Coast), these are both teams GV has won against earlier in the split. Cop in particular had a very strong week when facing these teams. (Week 2: 45 pts, Week 4: 63 pts). He may be note-worthy to pick up heading into this next week of games. And as for C9, they are up against NA's punching bag (Coast), and a very aggressive WFX. Coming off a 2-0 week and with the mindset that they have light week 6 match-ups, they should come into week 6 with a boat load of confidence, which is what C9 really needs at this point.

EU: H2K and GMB (Once again) H2K have truly become a force to be reckoned with in the EU. They are on a 4-game winning streak, and are up against Giants and ROC (Both teams on the lower end of the standings). If H2K continue to play the way they've been playing for the past two weeks, this should EASILY be another 2-0 week for H2K. Not to mention these are both teams H2K have beaten before. Ryu in particular should do really well this week. (He really came to form this past week, scoring 54 points). And GMB, well as everybody has been saying, THERE BACK! They are playing with new life, and are feeling extremely confident after having two very strong weeks. They have a bloody schedule ahead of them once again ( CW and ROC), and should, once again, rake in a bunch of points.

Hey boys, how about that week 5? I've been running rekkles every week thus far (I first picked him!) and will not give up! At least his point totals haven't been complete garbage... So I'm running him and Krepo again this week. One can hope they beat MYM at the very least, and maybe the chip on the teams shoulder will help them put up a fight against SK. Having invested so much into the EL bot lane since the beginning has me falling to second place in my fantasy league.

I also should mention I'm running a purposefully risky squad. I've always had the Ricky Bobby, "You're not first - you're last!" mentality, and I recently fell behind one of my opponents. Without further ado, here's my goon squad.

Top: Zionspartan Jung: Saintvicious Mid: Link ADC: Rekkles Sup: Krepo Flex: Soren Team: CW Alts: Svenskeren, P1noy, Xpecial

So, from the start:

Top: I have run the CLG top laner from day one. Benny was so nice week one. Zionspartan hasn't been racking up points, but what top laner has (aside from Huni)? At least he's consistent. If I wasn't running him I'd take GMB Caboshard, H2K Odoamne, or GV Hauntzer. They all have the potential (as a CLG fan, I know this as well as anyone) to be great this week.

Top laners are generally low-scoring, it's never a bad idea to take a risk here. I'd be following my own advise but I don't want to bench Zion, he's a good player and that space is better reserved for my backup bot lane in case I have to finally give up on Elements. T8 Calitrlolz8 and C9 Balls should also be decent pickups this week, they're good players with good matchups.

Jungle: I'm running Saintvicious instead of Svenskeren. This one was mostly because Svenskeren, and most of SK for that matter, seem to be good when they're winning and incredibly mediocre when losing. That is, I've never had an explosive point total from him, and that's what I'm looking for this week. And now that teams are learning how to beat SK, I want to hold off on running Sven for this week. So I looked to who was available and chose based on who had the easier matchup + who had shown to be able to have an explosive week. Saintvicious fit the bill rather nicely. Junglers are a very inconsistent role in Fantasy since the powerful junglers nowadays serve engage roles, but build Warrior's enchantment as a first item (ie, not a tank item). In games where the team loses, they come away with terrible KDAs. As far as advice on who to run, any jungler who isn't Santorin or Reignover (or Diamond/Airwaks recently) is going to carry a risk, so choose the risk you want to run.

Going with Sven, I can expect 20-ish points on a bad week or 40+ pts on a good week. With Saintvicious, I may only get 20-ish points on a bad week but have the potential for a 55 point week. Another thing I want to mention is that Saint's 55 point week (week 4) came when he played TSM and TL. This week GV plays TL and Coast, so similar points may come out.

Mid: Link's been really good point wise. He has explosive weeks and is otherwise consistent. There's no reason I would run anyone else here, unless Febiven comes available. For anyone looking for a sleeper mid though I'd strongly suggest H2K Ryu. He had 54 pts last week and will likely score similarly this week. Otherwise the good mid laners remain to be TSM Bjerg, FNC Febiven, CW Soren, CLG Link, and SK Fox. They're all consistent and potentially explosive regardless of matchups. Honourable mentions to the notorious WF Pobelter (though I'm not liking his matchups this week) and Keane (I'm liking his matchups this week).

ADC: I'm running Rekkles. I have P1noy, who I'd actually recommend to other people over Rekkles, but this is going to be my big risk this week. Rekkles is still one of the best when it comes to explosiveness (had a 70pt week in week 2) and he's playing MYM which should guarantee some points, then against SK I'm really hoping for a TSM vs. CLG or TSM vs. TL style game. Of course, I strongly recommend trying to pick up CW Freeze, TSM Wildturtle, CLG Doublelift, WF Altec, GMB P1noy, FNC Steelback,SK Forg1vengre, GV Cop, or TL KeithmcBrief. Sleepers this week are probably T8 Maplestreet (T8 should have some pretty close and bloody games this week) and H2K Hjarnan (H2K on the rise).

Support: Supports, like junglers, are really team dependent, but unlike junglers they typically don't involve themselves meaningfully until midgame (though pay attention to which supports do try roams often, those are the guys you want on your team). Just taking a support from one of them top teams, or a team that has good matchups in the coming week is usually all you need. I'm running EL Krepo because the hype is messing with my sense of better judgement.

Flex: I have Soren. I got him to replace an alt in week 2, now I run him fulltime. I recommend switching alts around often to be ahead of the curve.

Team: Teams are not very important. I mean every point is important but there's never much of a difference between teams unless yours goes 0-2, which with the upsets that've been happening is entirely possible for any team.

Thanks for the read! I'm going to put something in-depth every week, look forward to it!

Hi, just curious about something. I have 8 people in my league, so who do I play week 8 and 9? Is it the same people I played in weeks 1 and 2? Or is it random?

GondraX2/24/2015, 8:58:15 PM1 votes

Sorry for disturbing once more for this week, but I´ve just noticed that Krepo will be playing instead of Nyph for W6 and I´ve started to think about it little more. Krepo or Kasing? I see high potential in match vs. MYM and with Krepo they would hopefully take revenge on SK? Who knows ... Would you recommend me to put in Krepo to my roster? Krepo - free to pick, Kasing -in roster, nRated - alternate

in top i dont know if i start Impact, Odoamne or Hauntzer. (Impact and Hauntzer is in my team and odoamne is in the player pool)

Flex i dont know if i start hjarnan (h2k adc) or Betsy (GMB mid)

Need a help in this one.

Hi, and thanks in advance.

My Team:

Top: Quas Jung: Loulex Mid: Febiven ADC: Doublelift Sup: Bunny Fufuu Flex: Freeze Team: C9 Alts: Froggen, Vizicsacsi, Krepo

Opponent's Team:

Top: Huni Jung: Reignover Mid: Soren ADC: Steeelback Sup: Unlimited Flex: Hjarnan Team: H2K Alts: Keane, Hylissang, (open)

What I think of it:

I really like keeping Rebiven and Freeze in due to the CW v FNC game this week.

What I need help with:

Freeze is facing FNC and GMB which have both been very good these past weeks. Should I put Froggen in? Both get a lot of points so I'm unsure. Plus Krepo came in this week which may boost EL. EL is also facing MYM which should be nice for them...then SK. So I'm unsure.

Then top lane. My opponent has all EU players so it's nice to have some NA players for points later in the week. Is Quas (with Keith in TL) better than Viz? I think so, but TL is facing GV and CLG while UOL is facing MYM and SK, the mirror to EL.

So basically it comes down to: is it worth it to put in riskier players facing MYM (yay) and SK (boo) or stick with consistent players facing harder teams (FNC/GMB and GV/CLG).

Thanks!

Any suggestions on who to start? Here's my roster: Top: Dyrus or Hauntzer Jungler: Santorin Mid: Soren or PowerofEvil ADC: Steeelback Support: Krepo or Kasing Flex: Cop Team: CLG

vs.

Top: Zionspartan Jungle: Reignover Mid: Pobelter ADC: Rekkles Support: Xpecial Flex: Keane Hecarim Team: Elements

Top: Dyrus is consistent but averages fewer points than Hauntzer. Mid: PowerofEvil seems to struggle in hard games, and is playing against SK. He is also against punching bag MYM, but that could mean the game ends quickly and not a lot of points are put up. Soren is pretty consistent, even against tough opponents, but his match against FNC might be a fluke that inflates his stats. Support: I know Krepo is new and needs to break in, but my opponent has Rekkles and on the chance that EL goes off somehow, magically, I might want to have Krepo to hedge on Rekkles's performance.

Any help or suggestions is appreciated. Thanks! :)

How are you always here to put in responses Nural? It's absurd like do you have a job? May be personal or weird question but it astounds me that every week you are here.

Hey there, just a quick question before the week kicks off if you have a moment. I have Fnatic as my team currently, and h2K is open. I recently grabbed Ryu off the wire and was contemplating grabbing the team as they seem to outscore Fnatic these two weeks. I'm think that'll continue. Any Suggestions? Thanks!

Top - Huni Jungle - Reignover Mid - Fox Marksman - CoreJJ Support - Kasing Team - Fnatic Flex - Ryu

Bench - Meteos Bench - Piglet Bench - Xpecial

Any suggestions on how to beat a dude in your fantasy that just drafted TSM, picked TSM as a team and then grabbed doublelift as his flex?

I was wanting to do the same thing this week and draft a full team to fight fire with fire, but the only team I can think of that would grab the same points is fnatic, and Huni, Febiven and yellowstar are already taken. I could pick up the entire SK lineup but aside from forgiven I dont see any other big hitters on SK.

My current roster:

Top: Zionspartan Jungle: Reignover Mid: Froggen ADC: Steeelback Support: Nrated Flex: Forg1ven Team: Fnatic

Also got Krepo, Svenskeren and CLG as alts but i'm not sure D:

TheYungSensei2/26/2015, 2:20:51 AM1 votes

Hey, if you don't mind, can you help me out with my roster please? Here it is:

Top: Huni Jung: Reignover Mid: Soren ADC: WildTurtle Support: kaSing Flex: Keith Alts: Betsy, Xmithie, YoungBuck

My thoughts:

I'm confident in Huni, Reignover, and WildTurtle in the starting lineup.

What I need help with:

I'm not sure if I should start Betsy over Soren or Keith. Keith has a tough schedule, going up against Cop and Doublelift, but he has shown that he can score huge points in a single game, even against a tough matchup (he dropped 39 against WildTurtle last week and 41 against Doublelift in a previous matchup). Soren also has shown that he can have huge scoring weeks. But Betsy's 58 points last week sounds very tempting.

Also, I'm thinking about picking up Edward over kaSing, but I'm still unsure. And I also am contemplating whether or not I should swap Keith for Hjarnan or P1noy. Hjarnan is a very consistent scorer, and with H2k on the rise, ROCCAT and GIANTS GAMING are like little children compared to H2k. Hjarnan should be able to rack up solid numbers. The reason why I want P1noy is because after that 70 point week, he dropped 38 and 57, which are very good stats. The only reason that is holding me back from adding him is that he is going up against CW Freeze.

Any advice and suggestions is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi there, sorry to be posting again... Should I drop SK? Are they falling apart now or were their 3 losses flukes? Gravity and Impulse are the next best teams, unless I can make a trade with anybody for CW, UOL or a team of that caliber. Also, Altec has been on my bench for a while now. I know he is a good player and rarely dies with always good CS, but I feel that there are stronger Fantasy ADCs out there. The next best free agents are CoreJJ and Apollo. Freeze is my adc right now, but he only got 9 points against Gambit. I'm facing the strongest team in my league next week and I'm starting to worry my roster isn't as strong as it could be. Really appreciate everyone's advice!

Hey Nural! I'm playing my undefeated friend this week, and your advice to take GMB and H2K members has got me 50 points ahead so far. (Thanks!) But for top lane, should i put in Zionspartan or Dyrus? My opponent has Wildturtle, TSM, and Xmithie. Thanks! I don't think you're thanked enough for your help here.

Trying to decide between two junglers, saintvicious (GRV) and IWD (TL), for NA day 2 this week. Gravity has got a pretty weak opponent in coast which makes saintvicious look like a good pick but IWD is coming off a decent showing last week. Any thoughts?

I went full-blow out H2K on one of my drafts, and I'm beating my friend 290-38, but he has primarily NA players.

For my flex, should I go Keith or Doublelift?
