WELCOME BACK EVERYONE!
Oh yes, its that time again. The 2016 spring split is finally upon us, with a brand new fantasy season to go along with it! And with a new fantasy season, everyone starts from scratch, (Aka, the draft.) A LOT has changed since the end of the summer split. So. Many. Roster. Changes. So with this in mind, this forum here is all about discussing the draft, from potential picks to draft ideology.
Personally, I have attached a screenshot of my draft cheat sheet below. This cheat sheet consists of all of the known players in the 2016 Spring LCS known to date. (Granted, there are still some roster changes to be locked in, but those will be updated in due time.) Feel free to use this cheat sheet when coming up with your own strategy!
(Please refer to the draft cheat sheet during the following explanation... Prepare for a lot of text!)
The draft cheat sheet is set up in a Tier Format. What this means is that I have all of the players listed in different tiers in their respected positions (20 players per position). There are four tiers I am referring to. Tier S being the best of the best, and with Tier C being the worst fantasy wise. See in fantasy, most of the players roughly perform at the same level as their fellow opponents in fantasy scoring. Statistically speaking, all of the players within each tier, in the end, performed at the same level as one another, and therefore are in the same tier as each-other. And this is beauty behind the tier system, it makes visualizing the playing field very simple.
So hypothetically speaking, lets say its your turn to draft, and you see that Bjergsen, POE, Niels, and Doublelift are off the board. You could go an pick a Tier A mid or ADC; OR you can go pick up a Tier S jungler, top, or support instead, knowing that there most likely will be a Tier A mid or adc when your next pick comes around. This is the beauty of the tier system. (Hopefully this all made sense haha).
But more importantly, this is a place where we can all discuss potential picks with the community and help each other out in our pre-draft strategy! Please feel free to post and questions or comments you have below!
Here are a few drafting tips to keep in mind:
-
You should focus on getting a strong mid laner and/or ADC in the first round. (Mid and ADC usually are your most consistent form of points during the season.)
-
DO NOT DRAFT A TEAM EARLY ON. Your points are going to be coming from your individual players, rather than your team slot. The earliest you should draft your team is round six. Use the rounds before that to get some really strong players, even if it means doubling up and getting another mid/adc/etc. P.S: Do not have two teams on your roster. Save that bench spot for another player. (You can always swap your team during the split if need be).
-
Your goal is to have two mid slots, two ADC , two Jungle, two Top, a support, and a team. (Depending on your situation, it may be better to get 2 Supports and just 1 top laner.) The important part though is having two MID, ADC, and JUNG slots. P.S: Don't be afraid to double up on a position early on in the draft, especially when it comes to Mid's and ADC.
-
Make sure you always have a plan B in-between draft picks. If your next pick gets taken, don’t panic, because you don’t have enough time for you to panic. Make your selection…. And THEN you can freak out about how you didn’t get your pick haha :D
-
If you ever are having a hard time deciding between two players, go with your gut. Usually your first gut decision is the better one. (If it turns out to be a bust… well then that’s what Add/Drop is for :D)
A REALLY IMPORTANT General Note:
You are not going to be able to draft the perfect team right out of the gate. We can look at all of the statistics and research all we want, but no one knows for sure whose going to be hot, and whose going to be not as hot. That’s why its so important to scout during these first couple of weeks, especially the first week. If you don’t do so hot in your first week, find the weak points in your roster, and use the Add/Drop feature to strengthen those spots to the best of your ability. In my opinion, Scouting is the most important part to a successful fantasy roster.
