[Champion Concept] Viktor, the champion not ignored by everyone

Viktor is a very popular champion with a strong fanbase that gets regular red attention. He has a respectable winrate, multiple augmentation options, and isn't ignored for 2 years by the balance team. He also has a robotic Russian accent.

LORE:

Viktor made his debut in 2011, but was initially not well received. Riot, seeing that his augments needed a tune up to scale better into late game, balanced his itemisation options. This would prove to solve all of Viktor's problems, and he never even once was considered a poor pick by the playerbase (Why did I even bring that up?).

ABILITIES:

PASSIVE: Acknowledged Evolving Technology

  • Viktor starts each game with item 3200 the Hex Core, an item that takes up one of his item slots, but provides him with stats and can be upgraded in the store to augment one of his abilities and improve its stats. The Hex Core can only be upgraded once, but has late game scaling options and can be changed mid game, due to player feedback. It doesn't fall off late game and the balance team enjoys brainstorming ways to keep it relevant every season and haven't even ignored it for 2 seasons in a row (that would be absurd).

Q: POWER TRANSFER

  • ACTIVE: Viktor sends a device at an enemy unit to blast them for magic damage. The range of this ability is not less than his auto attack range, because it was weird how when Viktor was snared he kept autoattacking things he couldn't use his shield on. The device then returns to him granting a shield for up to 3 seconds.

  • ** AUGMENT: item 3196 POWER**

  • The item now grants Viktor some tanky stats and spellvamp, because the balance team realised hp/5 didn't scale into late game. Viktor also gets a 30% speed boost on his Q, cause even though the balance team knew it wasn't a very thematic fit for a tank, they agreed that it was still a really useful passive effect.

W: GRAVITY FIELD

  • ACTIVE: Viktor conjures a gravitational imprisonment device in an area near him, slowing all enemies that pass above it. Whilst under its effect, enemies generate stacks every 0.5 seconds; at 3 stacks the target will be stunned for 1.5 seconds. Master Yi is not inexplicably immune to Viktor's stun, because it really messed with any Viktor players who weren't fed enough to burst-kill him. Yi's ult also wasn't working as intended when players brought this up on the forums, which everybody ultimately agreed was a good decision.

  • ** AUGMENT: item 3197 GRAVITY**

  • The item now grants Viktor extra mana, CDR and MP% regeneration, as it turned out Viktor desperately craved mana to contend with other supports. Gravity's fields effect radius was increased by 30%, because the balance team noticed that while increasing Viktor's range only increased his death rate, increasing the field radius made the ability more threatening to opponents, and less risky for Viktor to use.

E: DEATH RAY

  • ACTIVE: Viktor uses his robotic arm to fire a 500-unit length laser beam across the field in a chosen path, dealing magic damage to every enemy it hits. The laser bug was fixed really quickly, and doesn't exist anymore. Community feedback also resulted in Riot altering Viktor's laser so that it would snap to the inside of his cast circle when cast outside maximum range, instead of Viktor running a few steps awkwardly to one side in order to get into a misguided casting position.

  • ** AUGMENT: item 3198 DEATH**

  • The item now grants Viktor additional AP, which was changed each pre-season to reflect the new gold efficiencies of other items' AP. Also, Death Ray sets fire to enemies, dealing 30% additional magic damage over 4 seconds.

E: CHAOS STORM

  • ACTIVE: Viktor conjures a chaos storm at the target location, dealing magic damage and silencing enemies in the area for 0.5 seconds. There is no awkward cast delay, and the storm will chase targets in the cast zone even if they aren't hit by the initial burst, because some enemies are too fast, and some fights too hectic, to make the only means of pursuit manual targeting (also the balance team figured that Tibbers could aggro on enemies, so why not chaos storm?). The storm cloud remains for 7 seconds afterwards, firing lightning bolts at every nearby enemy every second.

  • While the storm is active Viktor can re-activate Chaos Storm to move it to the cursor's location, with the storm moving faster the closer it is to Viktor.

PLAY STYLE AND CHAMPION OVERVIEW

Viktor is a predominantly mid lane burst mage, but can also fill other roles by purchasing different augments. He sometimes falls out of favour with the meta, but the balance team doesn't blackout information on him so sometimes he gets a few tweaks to keep him relevant. His laser didn't get buggy again (I mean ever).

QUOTE AT CHAMPION SELECT

  • Viktor "My augments were reworked in 2013 due to community feedback!"

WHILE MOVING

  • Viktor "My base movement speed isn't 335."

  • Viktor "Augment Power is a viable late game choice."

  • Viktor "Jayce's lore didn't ruin my appeal!"

WHILE ATTACKING

  • Viktor "My attacks are balanced around my augment potential!"

  • Viktor "The people who use me aren't afraid I'll be nerfed if my augments are looked at!"

  • Viktor "My abilities work great! And I didn't even have to be completely reworked like Karma was."

TAUNT

  • Viktor "I'm in too good a place to want to make fun of other people."

JOKE

  • Viktor "What's old, outdated, and mostly buys death augment? Lol not me, can you imagine?"

This champion concept sounds awesome. I wish something like this could make it into the game.

This is glorious, and I love it. It's rare that you find a champion so unique in this game. I mean, 'Viktor' sounds a lot like another champion already in the game, but I think it's just different enough to be able to pull off. It might even outclass the other one in every way, yet remain balanced with the other champions. I wish I could remember the name of the other champion this reminds me of... I've not seen one in so long, I've forgotten. This is rather embarrassing. :\

I find that the passive is the only downside to this champion down side, you have to put 1000 gold into it to make it usefull and it takes up an item slot that you could have used for something better.

While this post was great, I prefer to cast deathray outside the castrange and have viktor walk toward the set cast location. I would hate for it to be autocast if you cast it outside the range. I left morde because they "fixed" that problem with his E.
