Well, it’s been an amazing week guys and gals, but sadly I have to announce the closing of entries into the Champion Concept contest. To be clear: As of me posting this no more new entries will be taken, no exceptions.

If you can prove you submitted your entry into the entry post before this deadline then that is fine, but if your concept was posted even minutes after this post it will not be taken, sorry.

#Announcements

  1. I will say to everyone who has entered, thank you. You pounded my initial guess of a mere fifteen entries so hard into the ground I think Alistar would be impressed, this’ll be the last time I underestimate Community Creations! Seriously people, forty two entries in a little more than a week? That’s awesome! Here’s to hoping we get even more participation next round. =D

  2. The judging period was initially stated to be until this coming Wednesday. But I’m afraid I’m going to have to extend that until this next Monday (8.4.14). We’re going to need the extra time (and weekend) to sift through the amazing amount of awesome concepts we got, as well as give me more time to make more (and better made) poros! Keep in mind this also gives you more time to refine your concepts, because I know I’ll be looking back through the concepts again this weekend and I’m sure the other judges will to!

  3. This also gives you guys time to visit other concepts in the contest and give feedback to help them improve. I highly suggest doing this. It's just a nice thing to do and who knows what good karma may bring...

  4. Speaking of judges, if all judges could please be in the League chatroom this Wednesday sometime between 6:00pm and 9:00pm (EST) for discussion and feedback that would really helpful. Thanks!

#Feedback and future contests

I’m going to need your help if I’m going to keep doing this, I need feedback! I’m open to suggestions, criticism and ideas on how you’ve dealt with the contest so far. Tell me where I could do better and where I should work to make the next contest easier and better, shorter/longer entry periods, entry requirements, anything! Feel free to also ask me how the judging process works, I will happily show you (minus judge names and current scores of course, those’ll come later)

As far as how future contests go I’m definitely planning on doing more if it’s wanted, and I have a lot of ideas on new things to bring in and what to do, but I can assure you of one thing: prizes will not be as grand. This was the premier contest so I wanted to splurge a bit, but I can’t keep that same level of winnings up on a monthly basis. I just want to make that abundantly clear. That being said I am looking into low-cost, repeatable prizes that can still be freakin cool to bring to bear. A great start is Hoffmisc’s (The summoner behind the Board’s Champion Compendium) outstanding offer of a “Contest Grand Prize winners chapter” for posterity. But I would always love to hear ideas from you guys on what I could offer to bring in even the shyest conceptor! :)

Ideas so far:

  • Red Judges (being looked into now)
  • Concept Art for the winner (being looked into now)
  • Grand prize winner’s choice of bonus category next contest (definite possibility)
  • Guaranteed spot as judge for next contest?
  • Donation/Pledge Prizes?
  • ????????

42 entries? Admit it, you tried to stop the contest at that number just so you had the answer to life, the universe and everything :P

How about a rework contest?

You must preserve game play style and champion identity - but lets see what people can do with champions who could use some updating? Entries would be like "concept for Sion rework" or yorick, fiora, mordekiaser, evelynn, etc. Champions not recently redone, unless a legitimate reason for the rework can be given.

I'd like to second the Grand Prize: winner's choice of bonus category. Then the winner could choose that the next contest has a Jungle theme (all entries must be junglers) or that all entries must come from Piltover, or all entries must taste of purple, or whatever they want.

Also seconding the "best of each lane".

(FYI: I'll disappear on Wednesday for a week, so I won't be here until the 7th of August. Just in case anyone wants to contact me.)

THE TIME APPROACHES, I AM EXCITED.

It would be cool if there was Role categories, like best of Mid lane or best Jungler concept, and then make a team out of the best 5 concepts. Something fun along those lines.

I'm going to assume we aren't allowed to edit our character concepts after the deadline?

For suggestions, I think there should be some sorta requirement for a valid entry. I've seen some of the concepts that entered and most of them don't even have a lore. That does worry me, because what if the kit is awesome as hell, but the person can't stand a chance against other concepts with lore, concept art, quotes, ecetera.

When will the results be posted?
