Ignorance is Bliss [Leona Fiction]

In her private chambers within the Institute of War, Leona knelt before the insignia of the Solari. Her armor had been shed in her private chambers; Leona only wore her ceremonial Solari robes. How many years had it been since she went from a prodigy of the Solari to the Radiant Dawn? It seemed like centuries...

Slowly, Leona canted her head to the ground, eyes shut. She felt...confused. Betrayed, for lack of better words. How else could she come to terms with the realization that her greatest nemesis and rival, Diana, was a product of her people? All she had been told was that Diana was a heretic, that she broke free and slaughtered them all when she was told of Diana's escape.

The Solari Elders (The remaining ones anyways) had said that she shouldn't listen to Diana or any of the summoners at the Institute. Unfortunately, she had broken her vow. Her ears drank deep of the rumors and stories, one common thing resurfacing over and over: Diana was brutally tortured and sentenced to death. She was not simply a bloodthirsty heretic, no. Diana was driven to her dark path by those who wanted to bring all into the light.

Softly, Leona canted her head upwards now, staring deep into the Solari insignia. "I don't suppose a sign would lie to me?" She questioned to nobody in particular. Could she honestly face Diana now? Yes, Diana needed to be brought to justice but how could she not have sympathy for her? The Radiant Dawn is a paragon of the Solari's values, of protection, honor, leadership, compassion . . . and yet the Elder's treatment of Diana spit upon those values. Values she trusted and believed in.

As Leona thought of these topics, her heart grew heavier. Ironclad principles she had once held on her life and religion were now muddy and stained. How could she trust the elders now? How could she relentlessly pursue Diana now? What about the Rakkor? What if the Lunari were actually the positive half that was destroyed instead of the negative? It felt likes hours that Leona sat there, not a single thing changing except for her wavering trust in the sun. No sign, no words of wisdom, nothing she could do but accept that things were not as simple as she believed them to be.

"I guess a firm answer to my problems would be too simple?" Leona questioned the Solari insignia. Naturally, it did not respond, Leona hanging her head with a troubled sigh. If only she could turn back the clocks a few hours, before she knew of the cruelty Diana had suffered with the Solari. It was honestly the worst. Her eyes were open now and nothing would ever be the same.

Ignorance is bliss, after all...

Excellent read ol' bean(tips Fedora)! For a connoisseur of such fine literary delights such as myself, this opulent piece of grandiose storytelling hath made me shake in my velour robes!

Really though, it was good. Was expecting fanfic tier writing, got much better than that. Only thing is you used "canted" twice.. maybe try using a synonym?

All in all worth 9/10
