Ideally, she should look much less "stripperiffic", but in terms of her anatomy (i.e. face, hair, skin color, etc.), the above image is a good match.

In terms of outfit, I'd go with something more like this:

General Concept

Freesia is a short-ranged support Champion who uses mobility to keep up with her teammates and provide various buffs to them, as well as inflicting CC's on the enemy. She trades safety and harassment capability for making power plays and maneuverability. Oftentimes, she will put herself at great risk to secure her team's victory, but she has some tools to help her (and her comrades) survive.

When on the offensive, Freesia is very difficult to escape from if she chains her spells onto a target. However, she opens herself up to counterattacks when doing this, as she has to get within close-to-melee range of her target(s). Freesia players thus must gauge whether or not they can survive their engage. Additionally, Freesia does not make a good assassin, lacking good damage and AP scaling for damage. To compensate, her utility scales with AP in some areas.

Abilities (expect changes according to feedback)

Last Update: November 5, 2014

P - Rhythm (UPDATED)

Freesia gains 4/5/6% bonus movement speed for 5 seconds each time she hits an allied or enemy Champion with one of her abilities (increases at levels 7 and 13, respectively). This effect stacks up to 5 times. Additionally, Freesia passively ignores unit collision.

Q - Wind Waltz/Soothing Step

First Cast - Wind Waltz: Freesia spins her sash to stir the air around her (300 range), dealing 50/80/110/140/170 (+0.5 AP) magic damage to all nearby enemies and pushing all enemies struck back a fixed distance (50 distance) away from Freesia. If Freesia damages an enemy Champion with Wind Waltz, she can cast Soothing Step within the next 3 seconds.

  • Wind Waltz costs 40 mana at all ranks.

Second Cast - Soothing Step: Freesia spins her sash again to restore 40/55/70/85/100 (+0.3 AP) health to herself and all nearby allies around her (300 range). The strength of the heal increases by 1% for each 1% missing health for each individual target, and is halved for minions. (Maximum heal: 80/110/140/170/200 (+0.6 AP))

  • Soothing Step costs 40/50/60/70/80 mana.

8 second cooldown (does not cycle while Soothing Step is available). Both spells can be cast while moving.

W - Spirit Samba

On-ally cast: Freesia dashes to target allied Champion or minion, granting it a shield that absorbs up to 40/60/80/100/120 (+0.25 AP) damage and lasts up to 2 seconds. While the shield holds, the target receives +20/25/30/35/40 (+0.1 AP) bonus movement speed. Cannot be cast on self.

On-enemy cast: Freesia dashes to target enemy Champion or minion, dealing 50/70/90/110/130 (+0.25 AP) magic damage and slowing it by 30/35/40/45/50 (+0.05 AP)% for 1 second (max. 80%).

Freesia stores a Dash Charge every 14/13/12/11/10 seconds (reduced by cooldown reduction), up to a maximum of 2 stored at once (this cap increases when Freesia ranks up her ultimate). Champion kills and assists grant Freesia a Dash Charge. Upon death, Freesia respawns with maximum Dash Charges.

Whenever Freesia dashes to a target, she marks it for up to 3 seconds. Freesia cannot dash to marked targets, but upon dashing to a new target, the previous mark is removed. Freesia's dashes can be interrupted by snares, stuns, and other similar crowd controls (much like Yasuo's Sweeping Wind).

1 second static cooldown. Costs 30 mana and one Dash Charge per use. 550 range for both effects.

E - Mesmerizing Mambo

Freesia tethers to target enemy Champion, dealing 20/35/50/65/80 (+0.3 AP) magic damage and shields herself for up to 40/55/70/85/100 (+0.3 AP) damage for up to 2 seconds. If the target remains within 550-range for 2 seconds, Freesia receives the shield again, deals the damage again, and forces her target to dance (stuns target) for 1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5 seconds.

14/13/12/11/10 second cooldown. Costs 60/65/70/75/80 mana. 450 casting range.

R - Lover's Lavolta

Passive: Increases Freesia's maximum Dash Charges to 3/4/5.

Active: Freesia performs her ultimate dance, emitting pulses of magic around her every second that deal 40/70/100 (+0.3 AP) magic damage per pulse and apply a Heart stack to nearby enemies (300 range, stacks last 4 seconds). If an enemy receives 3 Heart stacks, the stacks are consumed and Freesia charms it for 1/1.25/1.5 seconds. Freesia cannot charm the same enemy more than once this way per casting. Lasts 8 seconds.

The cooldown of Lover's Lavolta is reduced by 5 seconds each time Freesia gains a Champion kill or assist. Lover's Lavolta does not hinder Freesia's actions.

120/110/100 second cooldown. Costs 100 mana.

Tips

Playing as Freesia

  • Keep track of the positions of all enemies and allies during fights and plan out your Spirit Samba dashes accordingly.
  • Proper use of Wind Waltz and Soothing Step will let you bait most enemies into overcommitting against you.
  • Because you have to get in close-quarters so often, invest into some defense to help you survive. Frozen Heart and Mikael's Crucible are great choices.

Playing against Freesia

  • Freesia lacks good range, and relies on heavy commits to engage you. Poke her from a distance or punish her for diving.
  • Flash can let you easily prevent Freesia's Mesmerizing Mambo from forcing you to dance.
  • Freesia's healing is strongest when she or her allies are low on health. Save Ignite and crowd controls for when your enemies are weak.

Champion Synergy/Difficulty

Works well with

Ashe - Between your crowd controls, no one should be able to touch you. Even if they manage to get close, Wind Waltz and Spirit Samba will keep Ashe safe. She can also slow the target of your Mesmerizing Mambo, making it much easier to finish the tether.

JarvanIV - If he uses Cataclysm, dive in and use Lover's Lavolta to charm his trapped targets with ease.

Sivir - Spirit Samba will make kiting easy for Sivir, and you can crowd control anyone who tries to jump her. When she uses On the Hunt, your ability to engage drastically improves, letting you and her run circles around your enemies.

Struggles against

Alistar - Alistar can immediately negate your dives with Headbutt, or punish you for them with Pulverize. You also can't harass Alistar due to your short range, leaving you without the means of exploiting his lower mobility. Any damage you DO end up dealing to him, he can easily heal back up. Your crowd controls are also useless on him thanks to Unbreakable Will.

Tristana - Anything you can try to do to her, she can easily negate with Rocket Jump or Buster Shot. Her high late-game firepower will also shut you down long before your crowd controls can affect her. Explosive Shot can also be used to prevent you from using Soothing Step effectively.

Annie - Get anywhere near Annie and she can instantly kill you with her stun and burst combos. Coupled with her long auto-attack range, Annie is a nightmare for Freesia to handle. Never get near her if her stun is up or nearly charged, as Disintegrate cannot miss you.

Background (rough outline)

In the old Shuriman Empire, Freesia was a slave brought into Azir's palace to serve as a royal dancer. She had similar circumstances as Xerath, but unlike Xerath was not resentful of Azir.

Shortly before Azir was to ascend, Freesia overheard Xerath in his plots to betray the Emperor. Before she could try to warn Azir, Xerath caught her and imprisoned her in a magical lamp, which he then secrets away in a tomb. Inside the lamp, Freesia lay in a dormant state where the lamp's magic slowly changed her, granting her magical powers and immortality. Unfortunately, she could not escape her prison.

Thousands of years passed, along with the crumble of Shurima. In the modern day, Ezreal entered the tomb and found Freesia's lamp. Ezreal rubbed the lamp to make out an inscription on it, accidentally touching it with his Ascended Talisman. This broke the spell on the lamp and released Freesia. Freesia learned from Ezreal what had passed, and was devastated to learn of Shurima's fall.

A few days later, Freesia learned that the Sun Disk had risen from the sands, and traveled to it. There, she met the newly-ascended Azir, who recognized her, but was skeptical that she was the same girl he knew in the past. He put her to a test, making her dodge the attacks of his soldiers with her unrivaled dancing. She passed the test effortlessly, earning Azir's trust.

Freesia now works with Azir to both restore Shurima to greatness, and to bring Xerath to justice for his crimes.

Not gonna lie this is probably one of the best champion design concepts I've seen. Wish people could at least give some recognition of this idea so a fan created champ can finally make it through. The only other champ that I think was community hyped was the completion and implementation of Lee Sin that riot initially didn't think would make it through during the alpha stages and so stopped his production. Other than that there really is no other fan inspired champ except maybe Angus into Braum...

I FINALLY figured out a new E ability for Freesia!

Now she's got a Nocturne-like tether that gives her a shield (up to twice, actually) and, if it successfully channels, makes her target dance for a short time ala Sona's ultimate!

This plays a lot more to her "dance through the danger" playstyle and takes out her one skill-shot, which I felt was out of place on her. Now she's really all about dancing around in fights, sticking near the enemy, and tripping up movements.

Let me know if I've got any numbers wrong.

EDIT: Also realized I really undertuned the damage on Freesia's ultimate (comparing with Rammus), so I increased it to 40/80/120 (+0.3 AP) per pulse from 30/50/70 (+0.1 AP) per pulse.

As a support player, i LOVE this concept. One thing that sticks out to me as opposed to other fan-made champion concepts is that she feels like she has a very clear set of strengths and weaknesses. I can plainly see how I could be successful playing both as and against this champion in lane. Mesmirizing Mambo could be an obscenely powerful spell, but I can see how it could be challenging to use correctly. I was a little unclear on whether this was a channeled spell like Galio's Idol of Durand or more akin to something like Crow Storm where Fiddle can run around as usual once the spell is actually cast.

Either way, I love the dashes and the fact that she's a low range champ that needs to take risks in order to be successful. Nice work!

we need a mobile support as that is something that just doesn't exist right now, so anything like this would really fill a unique role in league right now :p

Really good idea and so well made.

The only problem i have with her R is that you sadly leave your ADC defenseless.

May i suggest something? Like Lucian R,make her sash spinning number equal to a % of her MS(total would be better than bonus). The damage output would be the same, but later in game she could apply that stacks faster. 4 sec of spinning while applying stacks seems a little wierd for a support.

Also the range of her R seems currently a little to small for how risky she has to position. Does the casting of her Q,W,E cancel her R or by clicking R again?

P.S i like the first picture better (maybe her chest and belly should be more covered

Give her more cc instead of these ap ratios. People will play her as a second katarina with more sustain. Btw I like concept, but the name is kinda strange. Probably because it starts with "free". Also i really like that she will be able to charm. A second charming champ Ahri :3

Major updates!

Actually, I've been working on this one on Reddit, so some of the changes are logged there. Here's a link to the reddit page: http://www.reddit.com/r/LoLChampConcepts/comments/28ublr/freesia_the_spirit_dancer/

In a nutshell, Freesia's kit now has some better counterplay, but can be more potent as a result if she gets her stuff off successfully.

darkdill8/16/2014, 8:32:00 PM1 votes

Update!

Freesia's W now gets Dash Charges on kill/assist. Dunno how I missed that. =/

Also extended the range of Freesia's W to 550 from 500. Now ranged carries can't bully her so harshly.

Again, feedback is needed.

The 'less stripperiffic' dancer is Tethys from Fire Emblem 6 in case anyone was interested.

I personally think bards and dancers are lame, but ... well i kind of really like this idea... would be a real unique role. there arent currently any dancers in game, not enough regular shuriman humans (this kind of champ would do wonders to populate the culture and character of shurimans)

I like the idea of her ult being an aoe charm (was going to suggest it before reading).

there were a few thoughts that came to mind before reading but you seemed to have already thought of them. +1 from me.

Few questions does she have any connection with the shuriman ascended? feel like she could be some sort of spiritual link between them and regular people Would you be open to allow her to scale from AD as an assassin as an off build? AP for support, AD for burst?

darkdill9/10/2014, 4:41:56 PM1 votes

With the Shurima video that just came out, I've got some material to work with for Freesia. Here's my rough idea so far (not formatted yet; I plan to write it in a first-person style from Freesia's perspective):

Freesia is a dancer of Shurima whose family's bloodline consists of guardians of Xerath's tomb, though she never cared much for the legends. One day, she was dancing for a group of travelers when she overheard one of them (Cassiopeia) mentioning the tomb while conversing with a mercenary (Sivir). Knowing the terrible calamity that could happen if Xerath was released, Freesia attempted to dissuade Cassiopeia and Sivir from their journey, but Cassiopeia ordered Sivir to "dispose" of Freesia for her meddling. Sivir knocked Freesia out and tied her up in a shack (opting not to kill her to avoid a hassle).

Freesia was later freed from her predicament by a small Yordle mummy (Amumu), and immediately took off to pursue Cassiopeia and Sivir, and stop them even if it meant killing them. Unfortunately, she was too late, and witnessed Xerath emerge from the tomb with Renekton and Cassiopeia in tow. Cassiopeia thought to kill Freesia there, but decided to let her live instead, feeling the girl could be useful at some point. Freesia entered the tomb and found Sivir badly wounded. She tended to Sivir's wounds as the two were found by Nasus, who told them of the whole story of Xerath's imprisonment.

Freesia now has allied with Sivir and Nasus, and seeks to stop Xerath and Cassiopeia, one way or another.

Expect changes as more of the Shurima story is unlocked.

This is exactly the kind of support I've been waiting for. I'd seriously shell out the RP to buy her right after she comes out if they keep this kit.

JurassicParth10/1/2014, 5:11:18 PM1 votes

Her kit sounds awesome and I would love to see her in game, but she definitely needs re-balancing in her number. The healing from her q alone would be ridiculous especially with it only being on an 8 second cooldown. I can see her being an extremely powerful top laner with her high amount of sustian and consistent damage while leaving the opponents unable to effectively retaliate. Her kit is just extremely unbalanced. SHe would also work as an extremely effective mid laner against assassins considering most of them are melee and if they try to all in her, the heavy amount of cc she provides could easily turn the enemy's all in around.

A general trade for her in the top lane could look something like this:

Note: Both Freesia and the enemy laner are behind a minion wave, csing like normal in this situation. Also, assume all skillshots are landed.

Freesia goes in with her W. She immediately procs her E. She then can use her Q dealing the last damage for her trade and then she can W out if need be.

So why is that trade so broken? Look at the effects her abilities provide.

When Freesia hits her W, not only does she deal a decent amount of initial damage, but there is also a potentially massive slow joined to the damage. This allows her to use her E with free rein. With the slow already used, her E will easily be able to CC the enemy unless they have a 500+ range dash/blink. But even then, the trade would've gone heavily in her favor. And if the enemy doesn't have a dash/blink, then they are literally screwed because her passive will give her the ability to stick on them. The movement speed boost would giver her an additional 67 movement speed (402 total) at base stats. This is massive especially considering that her passive can be refreshed and does not have a timer in between the refreshes. To finish her trade off, she would use her q, pushing the enemy away slightly and dealing damage. Now if the enemy doesn't have a blink, but rather a dash, I assume that a well timed Q could disrupt the dash as the ability description makes it seem like her Q would disrupt abilities. So if her Q can disrupt a dash, then most enemies will have no way of escaping if they don't have their flash. Assuming Freesia is maxing her E, she not only chunked her opponent greatly but she also has a 2 SECOND SHIELD. If the enemy continues to stay within her E, then her shield is reapplied. Now I'm not sure if the shield is refreshed or if it is stacked on top of the existing one. If it is stacked on, then that gives her the ability to turret dive with little consequence as she not only recieves a massive shield, but she can use her Q to heal up IF need be.

Her kit could completely counter every melee assassin, or any melee for that fact, unless they are far ahead of her. This is because as soon as said assassin engages on her, she can use her E (once again, assuming that it is being maxed) to grant herself a shield and if they stay within range then they risk being chain CC'd whilst Freesia is healing (Soothing Step) and gaining up to 2 shields (Mesmerizing Mambo) that last up to 4 seconds, and in turn negating a greta percentage of damage dealt to her.

As for her build, I'd assume that a Rod of Ages and/or a Tear of the Goddess, eventually a Seraph's Embrace, would be core o n her along with items that gave both tanky stats and AP. It seems she also scales pretty well into the mid game with CDR. In the late game, while her damage will have fallen off indefinitely, she still provides great initiation along with massive amounts of CC. If her build also follows something along the lines of what I mentioned, then the enemy team would have to back off as she would be relatively tanky late game and by the time they killed her, if they killed her, she would be able to CC a portion/all of the enemy team allowing her team to then easily follow up on her. Not only that, but she provides a massive potential to counter engage as she has heavy CC but she can also give movement speed boosts to MULTIPLE teammates.

darkdill10/1/2014, 9:36:37 PM1 votes

Made an update to give Freesia even more counterplay: Her W dashes can now be stopped/interrupted by snares, stuns, etc., much like Yasuo's E dashes.

As such, if you try to dash right into a Morgana's Q, you'll be stopped cold and be at her mercy.

Tarot Senpai10/1/2014, 9:48:49 PM1 votes

I really like the idea of a risky support who's less about kiting and staying back and more about getting all up in the opponent's face. I agree that some ratios should be tweaked, but the concept is still really cool. It'd be pretty neat if she were darker in color, especially since she's from the desert. At least a little bit tanned from all the sun and whatnot. We don't see too terribly many of those.

darkdill10/3/2014, 8:21:33 PM1 votes

Added a section that shows Champions who Freesia synergizes with, as well as Champions who she struggles against.

darkdill10/17/2014, 10:25:01 PM1 votes

Updated Freesia's passive to be more like Ezreal's passive. Now the speed she gets is based off stacks, maxing out at 5 stacks, but the bonus lasts longer and doesn't decay.

To accommodate this, I've also changed up Freesia's E a bit so its damage isn't over time, as that would synergize too well with her passive. Now it deals half damage immediately, and half damage at the end of the tether.

I'll need to update her quotes, though.

I think you must have seen the post on reddit regarding a dance-based champion. I saw it too and just four days ago put up a champion concept here in fan creations kinda similar to yours, called Violetta, The Enchanting Steps. It didn't get much attention, so maybe you could integrate yours and mine together? Update!

  1. Freesia's gotten some number changes (generally nerfs) to reduce some of her power in best-case-scenario situations. There's a lot to look at, though, so I can't quite remember all of the number changes. Let me know if these look good now.

  2. Freesia's ultimate has had its cooldown modified to 90/80/70 seconds instead of 100/80/60 seconds. This is to both reduce the spam rate of her ultimate in late-game team fights, while compensating for the nerf by making its early game better.

  3. Freesia's W has had its recharge rate nerfed to 13/12/11/10/9 seconds from 12/11/10/9/8 seconds since her ultimate gives her a freebie. Now Freesia players will have slightly larger windows of vulnerability if they blow all their charges in quick succession.

I probably sound a bit of a nag, so I apologize if I do. I like the idea, but they did just make a support champ, so the odds of this happening any time soon is small. Secondly, I know you put that her outfit would be less, err, skanky, but honestly as someone who's been a dancer for almost my entire life, that outfit wouldn't go down nor would it work for the movement and her body. I'm not sure what kind of dancer you're trying to lean towards, but I get the impression it's a ballerina. It'd be pretty cool to have her on en pointe with proper attire. Not a flat out leotard and tutu to be stereotypical, but something a dancer would wear. For instance, the Popstar Ahri reference. It's a dance outfit from a Girl's Generation, sure it's tight looking, but it's something a dancer would wear (minus the heels unless you're wearing the proper dance heeled shoe). Anyways, I like the idea, I just think she needs a complete different outfit. Maybe same idea, but nothing so overly revealing and something that could interrupt a dancer's "flow". Good job with the entire design though. (:
