[Champion Concept] Ellie, the Maid of the Mist

I was a bit worried KayFears' Kaya would be too much like Ellie, but I think they're sufficiently different for me to post Ellie.

Ellie is a forest spirit (perhaps her lore could be intertwined with Maokai's?) who just wants to help others. Naturally (see what I did there? LOL), she's a support. All of her abilities involve aspects of a forest or mist in some way.

She could technically be an AP mid, but I intended her to be a support. (Her passive would be useless in a solo lane.)

Appearance:

Ellie is humanoid, with wispy trails of mist/fog around her, perhaps dressed in leaves sort of like Zyra. She has a very calm and gentle personality.

Passive: Nurturing Spirit

  • Upon dying, Ellie's spirit diffuses, healing nearby allies for (10+(1.5 per Ellie's level))% of their maximum health. (At level 18 this would be a total of 37% of their max HP.)

Q: Fireflies

  • Ellie summons a firefly at a target location, illuminating the area. If the firefly encounters an enemy, it will explode, dealing magic damage. If Ellie passes under the firefly, it will follow her for x seconds or until she encounters an enemy, when it will explode. (Maximum 1/2/3/4/5 Fireflies at any time)
  • The mechanics of this would be similar to Maokai's saplings, but with the addition that the Fireflies follow her around if she walks past them.

W: Faerie Ring

  • Ellie places a single glowing mushroom. She can allow it to grow, or activate it immediately. Upon activation, the mushroom's spores create a magical circle (larger radius if she allows it to grow first) that traps enemies inside and deals low AOE magic damage per second. Flashes, dashes, jumps, teleports, etc may escape the ring, but enemy champions cannot simply walk out of the ring.
  • The longer Ellie allows the mushroom to grow, the larger the circle gets and the stronger the magic damage inside the circle is, but the circle's duration is shortened.
  • This is essentially a single-person snare if activated immediately after placing the mushroom. Otherwise it can be used to create an arena and force enemies to fight in it.

E: Mistify (Toggle)

  • Ellie trails a mysterious fog behind her, costing mana per second. Allies in the fog gain movement speed and bonus HP regen (i.e. any healing effects, life-steal, base HP regen etc are boosted by a percentage based on Ellie's AP). Enemies in the fog have a reduced vision radius and reduced HP regen (essentially grievous wounds that scale with Ellie's AP).
  • I wanted another champ with a fog/gas spell like Singed xD

R: Forest Spirits

  • Ellie summons gentle spirits to protect her allies. Nearby allies gain:
  • (Level 1) Bonus armor
  • (Level 2) Bonus armor and magic resist
  • (Level 3) Bonus armor, magic resist, and a shield
  • These bonuses scale with Ellie's AP, and the duration increases with each level of her Ultimate.

Let me know what you think of Ellie in the comments. Any feedback is always welcome. :D

Edit: There's been some awesome feedback on this champ concept, and I'm going to update her soon to reflect some of the great ideas I've gotten from the community. Thanks for all the support!

My Idea for lore (To explain just exactly why a forest spirit even would want to be in Summoners Rift

Through the years worth of battles constantly undertow throughout Summoner's Rift, Millions of Nexuses have been blown apart, each time releasing a small quantity of mana. Throughout time, however, all those small portions of mana, unable to escape the Rift, had built up. Eventually this mana began to infuse into the forest, and it is fabled that various small sprites and nymphs have been born from the mix of mana and life.

During a Nexus Reconstruction project in-between matches, an apprentice sorceress notices a faint, but glowing mist, just past the base's outskirts. With curiosity enveloping her, she snuck away from the rebuilding site, only to see the mist trailed into the forest. Unsure of what could be causing the mist, she wondered around for only a short while before she saw a beautiful women, literally glowing, as she flowed and weaved about the trees.

Amazed by the sight before her, she didn't even notice herself stepping forward until a twig snapped beneath her feet. At the sound, the beautiful woman swung around to catch the young apprentice in plain sight. As she glided nearer and nearer, the apprentice shuddered to think what her possible fate was likely to be. The women stopped only a foot away from the now sweating sorceress, staring into her eyes. Then, suddenly, the glowing beauty broke into a large, welcoming smile, and simply said, "Hi! My friends call me Ellie! Whats your name?"

I know its not a masterpiece. I wanted to make it longer, but I know they need to be short and sweet. Anyway, maybe some of her lines could have to do with the Rift being her home.

An easter egg i would enjoy: If Ellie is 1000 distance from an enemy vayne, and the vayne condemns someone into a tree, Ellie would yell "Hey! Stop nailing people to my house!"

Comments welcome

To start, I really like the idea of another tree spirit champion. She could sympathizes with Maokai who obviously hates his life. Good thinking! On to her abilities:

Her passive is a little on the OP side. What if it healed for 37% of their missing health or 37% of Ellie's maximum health? That would seem more reasonable.

The Q is far too similar to Maokai's Saplings, lets be real. What if she sent a swarm of fireflies in a skillshot based line that did one of two things:

  1. If they encounter an enemy unit, the fireflies explode dealing 65/100/135/170/205 (70% AP) magic damage to nearby enemy units and revealing them for four seconds.
  2. If the fireflies do not encounter an enemy unit upon reaching their maximum range, they will illuminate the surrounding area for 20 seconds or until an enemy champion scares them away (stays in their vicinity for two seconds).
That gives her a little uniqueness while still maintaing the nature theme.

Question about the W. Say its 30 mana to create a spore. Is it another 30 to instantly grow it? Like double the base cost or what? Is there a timer on the shroom before fully growing? How many can she have down at once? Gotta be specific. Otherwise, interesting idea.

I like the E a lot. Maybe something like this:
Allies within the fog gain 2/4/6/8/10 (+1 per 50 AP) flat movement speed and 2/4/6/8/10% (+1 per 100 AP) increased healing effects.
Enemies within the fog lose 2/4/6/8/10 (+1 per 50 AP) flat movement speed and have 2/4/6/8/10% (+1 per 100 AP) reduced healing effects
Is that about right?

The Ultimate, is there a passive ability? Like -
Passive: Nearby allies gain 4 Armor / 6 Armor and Magic Resistance / 8 Armor and Magic Resistance and 3% Damage Reduction. This passive is lost while Forest Spirits is on cooldown.
Active: Ellie disables Forest Spirit's passive and then triples the passive effects for 6/8/10 seconds. In addition, nearby allies gain a shield that absorbs 100/200/300 (40% AP).
Something along those lines?

Anyway, great idea, I really like it. Just work out those specifics!

10 votes already and they're all variations of yes or maybe. :D

Why do I get so much response to some concepts and absolutely nothing for others?

I would like to see number's ( asian ) to think about this champion in a more specific way so i know what this champion is supposed to be, like i know this champion will be a support but will they be truly played in the making.( I don't even know if you understood what I just said)

Would her Ult be just to allies around her? Global? Or do you have to select them? Make the Q the trail, E Farie ring, and W the firefly thing, R the same. The mushroom needs to e activated??? IF you step on it, it would go also, but only when it is fully grown (to balance the cc and damage). I am feeling that she would really only work with adc's with high cc. (ashe, varus) but could be used as a singed mid type champ. She needs some fine tuning but over all looks good.

Everything is interesting :D but how much damage deal firefly?

"If the firefly encounters an enemy, it will explode, dealing magic damage."

You need more original ideas, although she could be fun she copies many abilities.
