[Champion Concept] Midas, the Ruined King
Hi all,
I've been working on this Lore (Titled The Dawn of the Shadow Isles) for the past week or so, and it introduced some cool new Champion Concepts. Midas is the first of 4 Champ Concepts I'll be rolling out this week.
I'm sure most of you are familiar with the traditional Midas story, but if you want a League of Legends twist on it, go ahead and read that lore. Midas is a gold-based fighter/tank who uses his golden touch in various ways to create a nice shiny kit.
Without further ado, I present Midas, the Ruined King:
Passive: Untold Wealth
- Midas has increased gold per 5, but his abilities cost gold. His current gold is displayed where the mana bar would be, with divisions similar to the health bar to indicate exactly how much gold he has.
Q: Midas' Touch
-
(Passive) Midas' basic attacks increase the bounty on his target by 1% for (Midas' level) seconds. (This means whoever kills the target gets more gold)
-
(Active) Midas' next basic attack briefly turns his target to gold, stunning them for (0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5) seconds.
W: Transmute (toggle)
- Midas sacrifices HP per second to increase his movement and attack speed.
E: Gilded Armor
- Midas gold-plates his armor, momentarily blinding nearby enemies who are facing toward him. This also increases his armor and magic resist for the duration.
R: Curse of the Ruined King
- For (10/15/20) seconds, any enemy champion who spills Midas' golden blood (through basic attacks or spells/abilities) is overcome by greed and taunted for (0.5/1/1.5) seconds. This effect cannot occur more than once every 5 seconds on the same enemy.
Additional Notes:
- Midas is intended as a melee/tank top laner, but he can also be played as a jungle or support.
- The passive on his Q (as well as Transmute) are intended as an incentive for Midas players to buy Blade of the Ruined King (which increases life steal and attack speed, recouping HP lost from Transmute and increasing the bonus bounty from Q), but BOTRK is not an absolute requirement when playing Midas.
- I will shamelessly plug my idea that Riot needs to include a gold-based champion in the League of Legends roster. Rikur + Raena are two others I've created in the past.

- As always, questions and feedback are welcome as long as they're constructive.
