[Champion Concept] Randuin, the Last Defense

Hi guys, I haven't posted a champ for a couple days cause I've been busy playing ULTRA RAPID FIRE mode. Boy is that ever fun. xD

I decided to do another item-based champ concept, and Randuin's Omen is one of my favourite tank items. As you can probably guess, Randuin is a super-tank. He has low mobility but makes up for it with retarded tankiness. I didn't consciously do this, but he doesn't actually have any CC abilities. He's pretty much devoted to defending his allies and absorbing as much damage from enemies as he can.

Appearance:

Randuin is a hulking specimen of a human, outfitted with super-strong armor and his trusty shield as pictured here: item 3143 His attitude is one of grim optimism: he will never give in to an enemy, and rarely backs down from fights. He believes in the strength and bravery of his allies and defends them at all costs.

Passive: Guardian's Blessing

  • Near his own objectives (i.e. Turrets, Inhibitors, Nexus, Captured Control Points and Buffs, etc), Randuin gains 3 bonus armor and MR per level.

Q: Unbreakable Will

  • Randuin passively gains bonus armor and MR as he loses health (1/1.5/2/2.5/3 each per 100 HP lost). This passive does not work while Unbreakable Will is on CD.
  • Activating Unbreakable Will converts this bonus armor/MR back into HP ((bonus armor + bonus MR)x10) and grants Randuin 5/10/15/20/25% bonus attack speed for a period.
  • Example: Randuin goes into a fight (at level 18 for simplicity) and loses 1000 HP. Over this period he's gained 3 armor and 3 MR for every 100 HP he lost, so that's 30 armor and 30 MR. Activating Unbreakable Will restores ((30 + 30)*10 = 600)HP to Randuin and grants him 25% bonus attack speed, but takes away the bonus armor/MR.
  • To clarify the passive part, Randuin's armor/MR don't simply scale with his missing HP: he only gains armor/MR as he loses HP, so he will not automatically gain a bunch of bonus armor/MR if he's at 50% health.

W: Devoted Protector

  • Randuin grants a shield (based on his maximum HP) to an allied champion. The shield is halved (but costs less mana) if cast on himself.

E: Shock Absorber

  • Randuin's shield absorbs splash effects (from any spells or basic attacks dealt to him) for x seconds, reducing their effects by 20/30/40/50/60%
  • Examples include: Jinx's ult and mini-rockets, Ashe's ult, Malphite's brutal strikes, melee attacks using Ravenous Hydra, Corki's ult, (I think Lee has some splash spells but I've never played him?), Twisted Fate's splash effects from his cards, etc.

R: Stand Your Ground!

  • Randuin chooses a location to defend and digs in, rooting himself and fortifying his armor and magic resist (30/45/60 bonus armor/MR). For the duration, Randuin cannot move (and cannot be moved). He is immune to movement spells like grabs, knock-ups, knock-backs, kicks, etc. Randuin will still take damage from these spells (if any is included), but cannot be moved by them. Nearby allies in a small radius (and Randuin) gain bonus attack speed and life-steal (2.5/5/7.5% base plus a ratio of Randuin's AP) for the duration.

  • Alternately (because I'm sort of questioning the wisdom of locking into one spot), Randuin could set an area to defend, and allies who stay in that area gain a buff, and Randuin gains his armor/MR as long as he's in the specified area.

I really like this concept, but then I'm a big fan of tank champs. Let me know what you think in the comments. Questions, comments, and any feedback are always appreciated!

He sounds like a very strong solid champion against split pushers and a strong anti-siege tank. I generally don't play tanky champions that often anymore since S3 but i would probably like to give this guy a try. Though this guy is really mostly an optional pick since he doesn't really have any attacking abilities.

I think that his E could be used as a CC, with the splash damage area reduction decrease being a passive effect, then as an active effect he stuns targets around him. but even without a CC, he's freaking awesome and i would totally want to play him.item 3143
