[Champion Concept] Kombol, The Last Giant

I don't have any lore for Kombol other than the fact that he's the last of his kind and wants to help defeat the forces that wiped out his people (perhaps freljordians, or the shadow isles folks?)

Again I'm not big on detailed stats and numbers for my champ concepts, I just like coming up with ideas for abilities and champ kits.

KOMBOL, THE LAST GIANT

Passive: Gargantuan Size

Kombol's massive height reveals him while he is in brush, but also gives him a greatly increased vision radius and allows him to see non-stealthed enemies in nearby bushes. Upon dying, Kombol falls (player chooses direction, similar to zyra's passive), and crushes enemies beneath his bulk. Nearby enemies not caught underneath Kombol are knocked up briefly.

Q: Need A Boost?

On enemy cast, Kombol picks up the target and hurls them behind him, dealing physical damage on the initial grab, and also when they hit the ground. (This spell takes long enough that the target may cleanse or eat an orange etc to escape and avoid the second part of the damage) Kombol may not attack or use any other abilities during this throw.

On allied cast, Kombol offers to pick someone up (mechanics similar to Thresh's lantern), and if accepted, the target is picked up and becomes untargetable for the duration. Ranged champions may still attack. Kombol can cast Giant's Wake once an ally has accepted a boost.

W: Giant's Wake

Kombol rushes to a target location, knocking aside enemies in his path and leaving a wake that deals low magic damage for enemies who walk through it.

E: Brute Force

Kombol passively deals extra damage with every 7th basic attack based on his current HP. Activating this ability guarantees that Kombol will critically strike with his next basic attack.

R: Avalanche

Kombol collapses a section of a nearby wall, slowing and damaging enemies caught in the path of the avalanche and blocking all movement for a period. (After a while the rubble disappears and the wall is restored.)

Extra Notes:

  • Kombol is a giant, so he's 5-6 times the height of the average champion. This grants him moderately higher base movement speed, but I gave him low attack speed to compensate.

  • Kombol is intended to be a support/tank type champ.

  • Kombol's basic attacks are kicks. He has no weapons other than his hands and feet (I figured a club would make him seem too much like trundle).

  • Despite his massive size, Kombol doesn't have insanely high base HP. However he does have slightly increased armor and MR.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on Kombol. Let me know what you think! :D

I feel that this idea is great, but here's some input from me. I feel that his passive is a bit much, I would only go with the being seen, and increased range of sight (only like 15-20 over a normal sight) and for the height I feel he should be as big as a fully grown Zac or Cho, so that he's large, but not insane. And he could have more HP, armor, and MR if he stumbled about (because he's so large) making him have a 310-320 movement speed at start. If he gets boots he will start to walk better making him faster. Just some friendly input, trying to balance him and make him more of a presence but still keeping him kill able and useful.

for some reason i think his q would be the thing making him broken. if the champion is untargetable that its like elise flying in the air. he could pick his adc up right under turret and nothing would happen. he does have his pros and cons and id play him because he seems new and interesting. for ranked play his ult would be crazy trapping the team in baron pit.

I'm not sure why W has the need of a boost to work.

I love this idea, but here are my thoughts. Also, you might consider making him a Cyclops for the whole vision and giant theme.

Passive- Just increasing his range of vision would be enough to make him a great support AND top laner because he'd be able to avoid ganks SO much. No need to be able to see into brush. That's what wards are for. Also (just for fun, lolz, whatevs) if someone comes within ~600 range of him while he is standing in brush, he becomes visible to them.

Q- Need a Boost?- I'd change the name to "Shot Put", and here's how I'd change it: Make it more like Zac's leap. He remains stationary while his range increases into a large cone. While he does this, his team can right-click on him to be "picked up", and then he launches his attack to throw his teammate to a location in the cone, dealing damage to the target area. If no teammate right clicks on Kombol, then when he clicks, he hurls a rock to the target location. Max Range increases with rank from ~700 to ~1500.

W- Giant's Wake- I like the charge with knock-aside, but instead of magic damage to those in his wake (mainly because I don't understand where the damage is coming from), it should do initial damage, knock them aside, and giving an armor/magic resist bonus to him and all allies that are in his wake.

E- (I don't feel his E fits his kit, so I'm proposing a change to it) Kombol rolls a boulder toward his cursor to a range of ~700. Any enemies take damage, are pushed to the boulder's maximum range, are stunned for 0.5 sec and slowed for an additional 2 seconds (the slow dissipating over the duration)

R- Avalanche- Range ~1500 Kombol selects an area for a 400/600/800 width wall. Kombol channels for 1.5 sec, hurling boulders into the air. After an additional 1 sec, the boulders come down in a random order, dealing damage and stunning any enemies in the area for 1.5 sec and forming an impassable wall for 3 seconds. Enemies in the area are pushed to the closest location outside of the wall's area. After the 3 seconds, the wall breaks apart.

How I think he'll play: He'll want to keep his enemies at bay. He'll want to use his Q for poking and farming if he's being bullied off his minions. I think the key to playing him well will be deciding when to use his W, because it is part of his maximum damage combo, but he will probably want to keep it for his escape, and he won't really want to be in the middle of the combat for his ranged prowess. Most of his kit is based around using that maximum range vision to its advantage, allowing him to lob his attacks like Maokai.

He'll likely be a top laner, considering his low damage and high health, but also a great support.

Let me know what you think!
