[Champion Concept] Raeltiv the Infinite

disclaimer -- I'm still working on numbers and such, and I'm not really good enough at this game yet to have a clear understanding of balanced or not, but the concepts of this guy are, I think, pretty cool. I really like his resource system and the nature of his abilities

Raeltiv the Infinite:

Raeltiv used to be a simple peasant a long, long time ago. His lord was a madman who obsessed over the sun, Sol. He believed that there was something dark to counter everything light, and so he sought to understand what could be opposite of Sol. In his madness, he reached out to the Void in an effort to understand what could be the ultimate darkness, and the void answered. They gave to him the knowledge of something small, yet great and terrible. A black hole. Though unseen against the darkness of space, and small in size compared to the more noble suns, a black hole is infinitely more powerful. It sucks in everything around it, warping space, time and, most important, light to its will.

The mad lord sought even greater understanding of this ultimate power he'd "discovered." So, one day, in a stroke of inspired genius, he called for his soldiers to retrieve a lowly peasant -- someone especially insignificant. The man who would be come Raeltiv was brought before him, unaware of his terrible fate. Using science and alchemy previously unknown and afterwards lost, the madman grabbed a piece of the black hole from across the cosmos and fused it with this lowly peasant. The lord, the castle, and the entire continent of Atlantis were instantly sucked into this new, all-powerful being. Before the entire world could be annihilated, though, the fabric of space-time ripped and Raeltiv, as he would come to be called, was sucked through into the far reaches of the abyss beyond our universe.

Raeltiv the Infinite is a sentient being fused with a black hole. He has learned, over the last couple thousand years, to control the black hole that is now a part of him. He now seeks to understand how he came to be this way. With a vague memory of his old home, he created a portal and warped back into a universe outside the abyss. Once there, he found other beings with strange, wonderful, and terrible ability. Some among them have promised him understanding, others have deemed him an unholy monstrosity of the void. There is only one thing he knows for sure -- he will have to bend everyone to his will if he is to learn who he is.

Mana-based melee tank/mage

Melee
Slow attack speed
High health/defenses

Passive: Black Hole Core

Black holes devour everything that comes into contact with them.

  • Basic attacks convert 100% damage dealt to mana
  • All lifesteal, spell vamp, and life-on-hit is doubled

Black holes constantly eject unused energy and mass.

  • This ability activates when the champion enters its first combat.
  • This ability deactivates for 5 seconds when Raeltiv is out-of-combat and visits his team's platform.
  • Mana drains away at a rate of 50% maximum base mana per second
  • Life drains away at a rate of 1% maximum life per second. This effect cannot reduce Raeltiv's life below 1%
  • Mana and Life regeneration are always 0. Any other means can be used to gain life or mana, though some might not be very effective with his drain in place

Actives:

Q - Ejection

cost: [?]
500 range narrow cone
damage: [?]
cooldown: 12
A burst of cosmic particles and energy erupts from Raeltiv, doing magic damage and applying a dot from the exposure to gamma radiation.

  • Any enemies inside an Event Horizon whom are struck by the beam are violently ejected from the black hole, taking [?] extra damage and being stunned for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds. Additionally, any enemies struck by the ejected mass of those enemies take half the extra damage and are stunned for half the time.

W - Event Horizon

cost: [?]
200/250/300/350/400 AOE centered on Raeltiv
damage per second: [?]
duration: [1/1.5/2/2.5/3]
cooldown: 18

  • Raeltiv relaxes, creating a sphere of such crushing gravity around himself that nothing can escape. Enemies outside the sphere see only a black spot and have no vision of anyone (ally or enemy) inside the sphere. Enemies inside the sphere cannot see outside the sphere. Beings trapped in the sphere take constant damage while they are crushed by gravity and have their movement and attack speeds reduced by 50%.
  • Escape from the Event Horizon is impossible!

E - Ergosphere

cost: [?]
range: [?]
AOE: 125
damage: [?]
duration: 2 (travel is "charge" speed)
cooldown: 24

  • The gravitational forces inside of Raeltiv are briefly unleashed, spinning and hurling Raeltiv through space. Any enemies hit by him are caught up in his ergosphere and carried along uncontrollably. Residual spinning particles slow affected enemies' movement and attack speeds by 25% for a couple of seconds as the black hole is once again contained.

R - Singularity

cost: [?]
AOE: [?]
damage: [?]
duration: [.75/1.25/2]
cooldown: 120

  • The black hole within Raeltiv is completely unleashed, drawing Raeltiv's his enemies into its core, where they all occupy a single undefinable point in space. The unimaginable gravity crushes them while disloging them from time and space.
  • Enemies in the AOE are pulled into Raeltiv and take damage - their character models are scaled down and they actually disappear for an instant.
  • After taking damage, they reappear next to Raeltiv, are stunned, and their cooldowns do not advance for the duration.

Man this guy sounds beyond op. All of his abilities have a slow or stun element, making him virtually impossible to escape from, and attacking him gives him more mana from what I understand.

this is probably more OP than kassadin and teemo mixed together, but cool concept in my opinion. only thing is, how the heck do you pronounce his name?

His name is a play on "relative" like the theory of relativity. It is pronounced /RAY-ul-tiv/.

To answer the question about the mana -- he drains his own mana constantly with no benefit. Half of his base mana pool is lost every second, so in 2 seconds, with no auto-attacks and no +mana items, he will be at 0 mana. So playing him means you have to attack people to absorb the energy you need off of them, then you have to immediately use that energy or you lose it. +Mana items can help with this to some extent, since a larger bonus mana pool can give him a few more seconds before going empty, but it isn't like he can wait in a bush and ambush people. To clarify further, he must hit them to gain mana, not the other way around, so a ranged opponent who kites him can kill him with impunity if he's caught out and unprepared.

The thought is that he will have to engage with an auto attack (which is melee), then lock them in place/isolate them with Event Horizon. Other people cannot see into the Event Horizon, but they can walk into it (you just can't walk OUT of it). Once in it, they can assist their teammates, but they cannot leave unless they are ejected or the duration ends. The people inside an event horizon can still be affected by AOE, but enemies will not be able to use single-target abilities to hurt your allies in the field, or to help their allies. I picture him as a primary jungle tank, so he can roam around in a jungle leashing units and hitting stuff until he gets into a position to engage. But if he doesn't, then he will have 0 mana and low life when he first tries to attack his opponents.

Also keep in mind his AOE's are pretty small. For example, event horizon is 200-400. Keep in mind that melee range is 125, but with an aoe of 200, he can only reach 100 units in any direction, so he must really stand on top of someone to isolate them. 400 would let him get just outside of melee range on all sides.

The attack speed debuffs are so that once he is in range, he can keep alive and tank after peeling the team. However, he also has no short cooldowns, so he basically positions enemies as best he can, and then just tries to stay alive until he can act again.
