Post Groups Thoughts and Feedback
Group Stages -Significant improvement from last year -Need some refinement to avoid future occurrence of Group A without losing international diversity. -Group C and D had very high entertainment value and some incredible games.
Analyst Desk
-Krepo disappoints, Crumbzz surprises, Monte shines
-I am impressed by Monte’s use of rose tinted glasses. That is incredibly clever. He is making a strong case to be hired by Riot. He needs to get off of Summoner Insight and avoid controversial subjects on Twitter however.
-Crumbzz brings a unique style. He needs to work on making his point quicker. Eye contact with camera would be another thing to work on. I do feel he has the most potential outside of Monte. He brings an unique flavor on the analyst desk.
-Krepo disappointed me in that he did not improve from last year. His choice of words is questionable.
-Overall there needs be more clever use of props. E.g. how can you demonstrate ‘heartbreak’ after FNC vs OMG’s game? We need more creativity guys! In the event that of TSM or C9 upset, what would you do? Every analyst should consider adding their own signature prop.
Other thoughts
-The trio of casters worked like a charm this time around. Vast improvement from last year. Incredible casting. Incredible passion.
-Very good fans in both Taiwan and Singapore. Multi-country Worlds is the way to go.
-Overall improvement in almost every aspect. The future of eSports however is very unpredictable. We are entering an era of ‘virtual goods’ where reputation will be as important as the product. It is not just about, should we support League? The question is now should we support Riot? Riot should seek more volunteering opportunities and better involve its players/staff with the community.
-Last hitting is incredibly tedious and from spectators’ point of view - unimpressive. It feels like a marathon rather than a sprint. How can the game add ‘explosiveness’ to the laning phase? This is an area that needs to evolve.
