It's been 1 month of Worlds Regionals, Play Ins & Group matches

And I still don't understand how did Urgot became one of the biggest pick & ban champion in Worlds out of the blue. He used to be non-existent back then, why the hell he's played now? I don't remember him receiving a big boost buff or something.

Reasons why I'm asking this? I'm an Urgot main, he was real fun playing since I'm fighting against people who has close to no clue on how Urgot works. Now thanks to Worlds, he's spammed everywhere by sheeps who happens to stop playing their everyday favorite Yasuo.

It started most notably within LPL scrims before their playoffs and it picked up from there. I believe back then, it was nothing really patch aware; Urgot's kit as it was had been an effective combat counter to what was becoming that standard sticky tank meta in lane. And like Aatrox broke the mold for duelists, this was similar.

His initiative tools in the likes of Righteous Glory, cooldowns helped by Black Cleaver, percent damage utilities, and a clean execute for an ultimate. Basically he was a good example of a Randy Orton RKO....outta nowhere.

Riot did a complete rework of Urgot. They didn't nerf him. And the pros learned how to play the reworked version is what it amounts to.

He was simply discovered. You'd think that pro players play every champ and know how they work/how to build them. But they don't. There are many champions that simply don't see play because they don't bother to spend time on trying them out. Usually when a sleeper gets discovered, they get instanerfed next patch. Urgot didn't.
