Can we admit that Riot kind of ruined this World championship with their recent releases and reworks

Mordekaiser and Gangplank both have a 100% pick or WIN rate. (Mordekaiser 99%, he was not banned or picked once IIRC) Darius and Fiora completely dominate toplane (yes they have some counterpicks but the fact that they have to play vs "Counters" every game and still win more than half of their games shows how broken they are) Tahm Kench managed to even make Thresh look useless as a support...insane winrate and first pick or ban for SKT (according to many the best team in the world)

I still think the best team is gonna win worlds and they will deserve it but I honestly feel this Worlds patch is horrible and extremely unbalanced and especially disadvantageous for red side. Very unfortunate decision by Riot in my opinion.

Ye that rant about Fiora doesnt come well now, after she got wrecked by Renekton on Worlds. This is by far most exciting Worlds. We had many off meta picks. In middle of worlds meta shifted to double teleport. We had ADCs with teleport, we had Kennen ADC, we had alot of Malphites, There has never been more different picks before in worlds. Ye people focus only on top lane in their whining but look other lanes. We had Olaf mid, Anivia mid, Riven . We had alot of Orianas, Vlads. We had Ryze. Renekton is back, Lissandra was also picked. Couple of Kassadins, Nunus, Syndras, Vi. Ashe,Draven,Vayne,Ezreal, Tristana,Jinx,Kogmaw,Lucian,Gravy, Twitch,Jayce, Cait, Varus... so almost all ADCs were picked.

As if Zilean andAlistar during season 4 worlds was any better. There going to be 100% p/b champions every single Worlds; that's not going to change.

Every season is the same crap. Worst than KASS season... riot just dont know how to balance their game. Go watch DOTA 2 instead. 10x better in terms of balance.

So I think that nearly everyone can agree that the 'S' tier picks this patch are a bit to strong. Then again there are picks like that nearly every year. There are more than normal this year, but every worlds has 'must pick/ban' champs.

That said I do not think that this worlds was ruined by any means. As of the end of the quarter finals there were 72 different champions picked with a good amount being picked into multiple roles. That is more different champs seen at one worlds than every before (the next highest being 68 in season 3) and the tournament is not over yet. Among the different champs picked there have been a lot of picks not often seen. Kennen AD with a fairly good success rate. Renekton has been played to great success for the first time in the pro scene in a while. Almost 25 different picks mid and about 14 different picks for AD, and 18 or 19 different top lane picks.

This is also the first world I have seen that a Korean meta game did not become the default winning style. This worlds meta is a combination of Western style lane swaps with the popular Chinese double TP.

Other worlds have had the must pick/ban like Corki, Kass or Jax. The shear number this worlds is a bit larger than I personally feel comfortable with, but all the same the diversity and different play styles have been really great this year with many really exciting games to watch. I can't agree this worlds was 'ruined'.

Every Worlds there's been a pick or ban. A specifically remember Karthus being that status for Season 2.

I disagree that Riot ruined worlds with patch 5.18. The top lane meta was obviously not favorable to the NA teams, but putting nationality aside, I think this year's worlds has been great. More champions were picked so far than last year. Highly unpredictable group stage + knockout stage (only 1 person is still alive in the pick 'em).

I do feel that last year was more exciting than this year but I don't believe that is due to the 5.18 patch. It wasn't even clear which Korean team was the strongest, in that it was unclear who was stronger between SSB and SSW. Remember that Blue had beaten White all that year so many people had not picked White to win it all. Also the Chinese teams were strong enough to be in the discussion for world championships also.

I do which that we would go back to an assassin based Mid lane meta, and I also would like to see stronger carry junglers and less emphasis on top. That being said I don't think that the patch ruined worlds, I just feel that the Koreans are better than everyone, and one Korean team seems to be much better than the others (but we'll see how it plays out!).

on the one hand i like how things had been shaken and teams had also needed to prove their ability to adept - on the other hand though it´s really showing that balance is somewhat in shambles and they really would have need either more hotfixes pre-worlds or 2-4weeks more time to adjust the worlds-patch and make sure it´s stable (maybe with a smaller tournament of teams that wouldn´t go to worlds for each region to test the waters?).

I said this as soon as they announced the Juggernaut changes. You don't change the meta right before Worlds. HORRIBLE decision on their part.

I am starting to think that there was an ulterior motive. They changed the game to a top lane focused meta which is hands down Korea's strength. Seems pretty suspicious if you ask me.
