why is C9 so bad yet so good?

QuadraBananas··1 votes·2,662 views

i dont understand why c9 can go toe to toe with rng, beat a korean team make it to semifinal... yet can never get first place in NA

like seriously, c9 is the only reason why NA is still somewhat a "major" region. without c9 NA has the international lvl of a wildcard team.

so why cant they win in NA?!?!?!?!?

Team Liquid? Doublelift!

why did doublelift never made it to quarterfinals at worlds then?

Because Doublelift isn't the reason for Liquid's success and frankly he's the most fragile ADC in NA. His game is very reliant on aggressive play and having teammates that can bail him out. When the adc meta favors utility and poke he looks average, and if his team can't back up his aggressive engages they lose.

so... why is TL and tsm always beating c9?

Because of players other than DLift. When DLift was on TSM, they would have Bjergsen in mid taking away the 1 consistent advantage C9 usually had. TSM also tended to have a better jungler. Now on TL, DLift has a world champ support backing him up, they have a top notch mid laner, and Xmithie is one of the best macro level junglers in NA.

Because NA plays very different than the rest of the world, including strats like "don't gank a losing lane"

C9 is well adapted to other servers but not in NA.

Maybe C9 always tends to use different types of team comps even when they know it's bad in NA but still uses new strategies, knowing they will be one of the three NA teams for Worlds in which after 2 splits in NA they use what they learned against better teams.

In the past, it was because of a lacking cohesion and aggressive playmaking. Jensen would regularly win his lane but often would be very slow to apply pressure around the map. Impact was famously inconsistent. They had enough change in who was jungling it messed with teamwork overall.

you pointing out flaws, but doesnt explain why they good internationally but bad reagionally

Ok, those are all reasons why they couldn't get it together to win splits.

As for tournaments? As others said, they adapt better than other NA teams have to other metas. I also think they have shown better mental resilience. Many NA teams have gotten decent leads in group stages, but when it came to marathon day and they had to go out and play 3-4 matches, they folded.
