What a PR bullshit answer, I'll believe them when they start actually saying the full team name instead of the initials of it in every instance.

RottedApples10/10/2019, 4:17:28 AM22 votes

Riot is owned by tencent.

i believe precisely none of this because of that fact.

KnKitsune10/10/2019, 5:03:25 AM19 votes

If something like Blitzchung happened in LoL and considering that unlike Blizzard, Rito is completely owned by Tencent, you'd bet that they'd do the same thing. Maybe even go the extra mile.

This is BS, this is only being said because they are caught out on it. The casters wouldn't be changing the wording mid-sentence as if it was a big mistake if it wasnt. You've probably seen the VODs, there would not be a good reason to suddenly change the wording around like they are suddenly forgetting what they are supposed to say now as its not just one caster, unless its because of the Hong Kong fiasco. Like, why else would it be a big enough deal to feel the need to change your wording in the middle of saying it?

LOL! total bull shit. the look jatt gave when that girl said "hong kong" to the production crew. they were told not to.

also the "team hong kong, rather HK".

hahahahahha

now given blizzards bad rep due to it, riot is trying to avoid blizzards mistakes by playing dumb.

hahahahh what a joke

JedenVojak10/10/2019, 3:11:18 AM13 votes

Makes sense. People are out for blood over the Hearthstone thing, so they're probably lashing out at people who they perceive to be "on the wrong side".

Beacon Academy10/10/2019, 10:10:10 AM13 votes

That. is. complete. bullshit.

"...we refer to their team interchangeably by both their full name and their tricode..."

If that were true, there would be no reason to stop in the middle of saying "Hong Kong"

Get outta here with that shit.

Jennifer42010/10/2019, 5:29:30 AM12 votes

"we dont censore anyone we just dont want our casters to say their full name and correct themselfes if they did"

ChrisBrownze10/10/2019, 7:44:28 AM10 votes

You tell me this doesnt sound like the voice of someone who was specifically told not to say "Hong Kong" https://twitter.com/i/status/1181888296558874628

TrevorAlu10/10/2019, 4:26:28 AM10 votes

Or so they say lmao, lets wait and see what actually happens

FREE HONG KONG!

Metal Janna10/10/2019, 8:04:21 AM6 votes

I mean, the guy who claimed they were avoiding saying the team's name cited TWO instances of it. Two points are not enough to extrapolate a pattern from... Especially when the data set seems suspiciously incomplete. There have to have been more times that the name "Hong Kong Attitude" came up during broadcasts... Why weren't those cited? Maybe because they don't fit the narrative?

Tamuut10/10/2019, 7:16:52 AM6 votes

Why should we trust this? If Blizzard had that reaction while they are partly owned by Tencent, it's reasonable to assume Riot will act similarly in the same situation. They have no reason to stand by Ryan's statement in practice and every reason to censor/suppress any mention of Hong Kong on stream.

Kanzler10/10/2019, 1:23:02 PM6 votes

If they werent being censored, why do backtrack after saying Hong Kong to instead say HKA?

The rioter is lying to appease the chinese money.

Spooky Skeleton10/10/2019, 12:20:48 PM4 votes

If Riot wasn't censoring their announcers/casters they wouldn't be so obviously nervous about it. They correct themselves mid sentence and glance around quickly, it's very obvious they were pressured to do so.

Lazy Grandpa10/10/2019, 2:02:52 PM4 votes

damned wether they did, damned wether they didn't.

ChrisBrownze10/10/2019, 7:39:00 AM4 votes

All the delusional people, that believe these lies should sign up for my great investment opportunity called "Definitely not a pyramid scheme" Why would it be a pyramid scheme? I just said it wasnt.

ModPeriscope10/10/2019, 5:20:12 AM3 votes

Ya, but....did he forget the boards exist?

(Ilu Cactopus, and we missed (still miss?) you.)

The23rdGamer10/10/2019, 10:29:11 PM2 votes

Yknow if you actually watched Worlds you'd see that casters say Hong Kong Attitude way more than they say HKA. Can't cherry pick a couple sentences and ignore the company's statement on the supposed issue unless you really love fooling yourself.
