[Poll] Cassiopeia picked by GG vs. UOL

Deep Terror Nami··1 votes·915 views

Cassiopeia has been picked in Top Lane by Gambit Gaming's Cabochard vs. Unicorns of Love's Vizicsacsi.

Amid all the "Cass sucks screw you Riot", she is now in the Pro League. How do you think this will turn out?

As the announcers said, Cass easily wins that lane. But that is the mark of a mage with a problem. Pushed out of mid into top lane, because they scale well but can't win against anyone except melee.

It's not her issue, it's a top lane issue. Same reason you see Kass in the top lane frequently. Safe, late game scaling champs (Ryze and Rumble til ppl realized WHY they were doing well) are always gonna be the best picks for top.

No, it is her issue. She was doing just fine in mid before the rework, and nobody was actually complaining about her. She saw occasional pro play, but not much. Ryze has the same problem. He did just fine in mid before major nerfs. Prior to that, Rumble was pretty much the only mage you frequently saw in top lane, and as a melee himself, others could contest that lane.

Making mages that rely so heavily on extremely short range primary spells and little mobility will ALWAYS send them to the top lane. If they are ranged champions, however short that range is on their spell, they will become bullies up there.

Except she was played in mid lane in the same day and did fine.

Against another melee champion, one with a fairly weak early game. They picked Cass into Kass because he can't bully her out of lane and she can him. Europe's obsession with Kassadin really shouldn't last much longer anyway.

Easyhoon from SKT played Cassiopeia mid lane vs a Lulu this morning; had a pretty good performance (6-1-8). Lulu is known for being a pretty strong laner too, not as oppressive as she used to be, but still very strong. I think Cassio just struggles vs assassins that don't need lvl 6 to do anything (as Kassadin and Akali maybe are).

I've also noticed a lot of EU teams (and a few Chinese teams) first picking Kassadin, which is really interesting. Maybe just because he's a flex pick and does well vs AP champs (with double AP comps being very common), but according to imls, in Korea they would just take an ADC (like Ezreal) mid lane and then just laugh at Kassadin (now they can probably just take Gnar top lane, or do a lane swap, and laugh at him)

SKT T1... versus Incredible Miracle. SKT could pick just about anything they want there.

Besides, nobody has said Cassiopeia is weak overall. They complained that she no longer feels like Cass and suffers early against too many matchups. In the hands of pro teams, who are depending on her in the hands of a great Cass player to carry late, yes, she's going to do well pretty often. Those teams build around allowing Cass to shine. Sometimes they'll use her top for easy farm, sometimes they'll camp, sometimes they'll counterpick mid.

NONE of that changes the fact that she is still weak early when part of her identity was being a lane bully. It doesn't change the fact that she wants to machine gun her E, when her core identity was poison mage. It doesn't change the fact that her passive is good scaling for late game, but is otherwise a completely uninteresting pile of stats that serve no other purpose than gating to make up for the SIGNIFICANT nerfs she got to her base abilities.

If anything, I hope that the fact such a boring and uninteresting champ is seeing this much play in LCS will mean Riot will finally realize just how much Stashu screwed up. Even when she shines, she is incredibly boring to watch. Her pick and win rates in normal play have not improved.

We weren't talking about her identity or the associated problems with her kit; if you look on a whole slew of Cassiopeia threads (heck even in this thread) you'll find I agree that she has a ton of problems with her kit. We weren't talking about that; we were talking about whether she's strong enough to be played mid lane, which she is. Of course she can't be picked blind in to whatever team comp vs. whatever team comp, that goes for every champion (unless that champion has even larger issues cough Lee Sin cough), but she does have a place, and she is very powerful, which is more than most champions in the game. If you want to talk about problems you have with her kit, there are many, many threads devoted to that and I'll probably agree with what you have to say, but this is not that thread.

Her pick and win rates in normal play have not improved.

This is flat out wrong. Before her rework Cassiopeia's win rate hovered (IIRC) around the upper-mid 40s. With recent changes, she has one of the highest win rates in the game (Here is a second source; ; notice the 55% in Top lane and 53% in mid lane)

I mean, I came here after the game so I already know the results.

Also people are complaining about Cassiopeia not because she's weak necessarily, it's because she completely doesn't support the playstyle they used to like (huge lane bully reliant on landing her skill shots, as oppose to what she is now, late game hypercarry lane bully that just machine guns out her Es).

SPOILERS: Syndra nerfed? No one told PowerofEvil. CHOO CHOO LOVE TRAIN (Disclaimer: yea I know Syndra's in a bad spot, Meddler actually commented on this earlier)

Pretty much this. Cass' biggest issue was her play identity, not her power. It's been said many times in almost every thread made about her that scaling and number fixes can make anything strong, but not fun or cohesive.

Well fked. This gonna inspire a lot of top idiots to pick Cass top.
