World Tour of other regions on the Shelly Express
Here on this world tour, we will do a late split check on each major region. This will mostly be an outsider’s perspective and opinion so yeah.
LEC: G2 is back on top? Wow what a surprise! Fnatic you need to take what is rightfully yours. Do you want to reclaim your throne or play second fiddle and pay rent to your oppressive landlord samurai shogun? Sure you beat them at the start of the Split, these samurai can bleed. You got a taste of that blood and want more of it. So take care of any other teams that stand in your way and fight fire with fire and face G2 with everything you got!
Yamatocanon style motivation aside. Speaking of him, how’s Vitality doing? They’re in contention for a playoff spot? Well I’ll be damned. Now watch as Vitality either goes full Rocky with a massive playoff buff or full Apollo and get banished to the shadow realm.
Who else is in contention for the top? Splyce. It’s been a bit since I’ve seen them this relevant. Origen are stuck in purgatory as while they’ll most likely make playoffs will probably be a mere stepping stone for one of the top three teams. As for Misfits, umm…. How the heck are you underachieving with a roster that stacked. I’ve heard a lot about how Febiven has been off lately. Yeah that explains it. Lastly we have Excel. I would say they are trash but that would be an insult to it. They are as bad as the 2018 Arizona Cardinals, all teams had to do was maintain some semblance of life and a somewhat decent gameplan.
LCK: Korea is as top heavy as ever where the strong feed on the weak. SKT have somehow turned around their fortunes and are one win away from overtaking Gen G. The squad looks much more dialed in and have been on a warpath with a 6 game winning streak. Faker himself has been playing with a conviction he hasn’t had since 2015. But, they have to get through Griffin to do so who while they are less dominant than last split are no laughing matter and should always be taken seriously. While the top teams are the same the teams SKT have left in the dust are stuck in mediocrity or are in the basement. This includes their rival KT Rolster who have lost any form of momentum for a late season push at 3-9. As for Jin Air…oh we might have a winless team on our hands. If that happens, that split will be immortalized along with the Spring 2017 Origen squad for ineptitude against their respective regional teams on the Rift.
LPL: China playtime’s over. Hope you had fun because Rookie is back. FunPlus Phoenix was the first to be caught in the maelstrom of overwhelming high end talent. There isn’t any toxic culture to slow this juggernaut down. After they deal with a couple of mid tier and struggling teams, RNG is next on the menu. Unfortunately one of those struggling teams is WE who I give some pity to as they are trying to escape the basement only to become a stepping stone on IG’s rampage. The other teams at the in contention, Top Esports are right behind FPX in the tight battle for 1st, though maybe not for long. EDG, LNG, Suning, and BLG are deadlocked at 5th as they all have 6 wins and are on the verge of breaking into the elite club. Not much to say about the rest of China as they are mediocrity or are in the basement.
