How can LCS be championship if it doesn't include all modes and maps

How can you call someone a champion if they only master ONE mode/map? That is a specialist, not a champion. The LCS ought to include all modes, all maps. At least one game from all modes should be included ... even a bots for that matter (though of course there would have to be some way to actually score it ... it isn't like it isn't going to be a win). Crystal scar, Twisted Treeline, the Rift, Howling Abyss ... they all have different tactics and strategy. Can a person be a "champion" without learning and mastering all of them? Sure, you can be a "champion" at freestyle, but there are few swimmers that just swim one stroke. Mark Spitz and Michael Phelps are champions because they hold the top spot in more events than anyone else in swimming. In Mr. Phelps case, more than any other in any person ... 18 gold medals in 3 Olympiads. Mr. Spitz won 7 gold medals in a single Olympiad. Okay, have separate "gold" medals, but at least put in the events for the other modes. The Olympics is not just a single event, how can the world championship series be so limited?

It'd be like saying a pro poker player has to prove his mettle in go-fish.

Probably because 90% of their players play rift strictly. with a side of howling abyss

I would agree if the other game-modes didn't suck.

Michael Phelps only had medals in swimming. He's a "specialist". He can really only swim. He should be able to run and throw javelins and play soccer. Swimming is probably more specialized than League SR.

SR is what the entire game is balanced for. Do you think these pros want to have to learn every single map's meta? We'll just end up with pro 3v3 players and pro Dominion players rather than every player learning all of them.

  • Do NBA playoffs include HORSE, Slam Dunk competitions, half-court versions, and 3 point shootouts? No. Those are alternate game types. All-Stars events do include some of those.
  • Does American football include Two-Hand Touch or Flag versions? No. Those are alternate game types.
  • Does the PGA Tour include mini golf or driving competitions? No. Those are alternate game types. The PGA does have a Long Drive Championship, but that is separate from the main competitions.
  • Does the MLB World Series include Home Run Derby, Tee Ball, Softball, or Wiffle versions? No. Those are alternate game types. All-Star events do include Home Run Derbies.
  • Does the LCS include Howling Abyss, Twisted Treeline, Crystal Scar, or different rulesets? No. Those are alternate game types.

Because MOBA have been played on the same 5v5 map for more than 15 years now ?

There's many baseball field dimensions, yet pro players only play on one type. I understand it may seem bizarre to you due to the fact that you might be new to league of legends and / or the MOBA game genre in general, but other ''modes'' are only made to play for fun, Riot doesn't balance their items nor champions, thus it's not modes for competitive play but for ''fun'' play.

They do occasionally have ''casual'' tournaments where pro teams can compete on those maps ( for ARAM it's usually retired players tho ), but you need to understand MOBA ( league, dota ... ) are played by most fans only on the standard 5v5 maps because that's what we played 15 years ago, and that's what we'll play 15 years from now. Sure it may look stall to MMORPG / RPG fans ( sorry for the assumption, but I assume you do as you seem to think league might be slightly repetitive ), but that's what FPS or MOBA players think of MMORPGs / RPG, it's boring, too much story, too much grind ...

Just my two cents, hopefully you understand better now :)

Competitive league is Summoner's Rift. Everything else is just fluff to increase their playerbase.
